In any other movies these guys are who the girls fall in love with and they get married at the end. Instead liana and Alexa are just so put off and disgusted by them throughout the entire movie, and then go back to their lesbian cottage core happily ever after together
5:43 the voice crack is there to reveal his powerful feelings for Anneliese (who he sings about)! As her tutor, he shouldn't let those feelings show, which is why I love the voice crack - a little moment of him getting lost in a daydream, overpowered by his feelings and accidentally letting his controlled mask slip.

Julian is the best Barbie love interest, imo. He wasn't forcing those rules on Erika, but she needed to know what princesses are expected to do to pass as her. The princess herself didn't like how she was expected to behave.

To be fair what is said about the way a princess is supposed to be is kind of true there is for example a rule that says that a princess can only wear 3 items of jewlry at one time with earbuds counted as one pair=1 to not be to flashy with how rich you are. So you can have earbuds a necklace and a ring or a bracelet instead of a ring but not both. At least that is what A real Swedish princess has explained in a film about the royal life.

Indeed, I need to know is still my comfort song in general. I can prefer it over many Disney movies and general songs by artists. I also like Island Princess both as a story and as a love story. Antonio is not just a love interest unlike other barbie movies, he literally is an equal protagonist as Rosetta with his own story and struggle.
Connected is maybe the Diamond Castle's song that people like the most, but honestly, I prefer "Two Voices, One Song", the bit they are singing after talking to the mirror lady, the harmonies are even better!

Island Princess is SUCH a good movie, and the entire soundtrack is gorgeous. I’d honestly recommend listening to any song from that movie. The songs in Diamond Castle are really nice too.
Also you should totally watch these movies sometime! The early movies are based on fairytales and ballets, but they eventually started coming up with their own stories and some of them get crazy! A personal favorite of mine is Princess Charm School, the twist at the end of that movie was honestly kinda dark (On Top of the World is a song from that movie I’d recommend as well)! Awesome video, can’t wait to see more 🖤

Just to answer some of your questions :)
The first song, "To Be a Princess" features Julian who is the Princess' childhood friend/tutor who loves said Princess, Anneliese. This song takes place after the Princess is taken and the Pauper, Erika, replaces her (wearing a blonde wig because she's a brunette, thats why his voice cracked as he almost confessed his love out loud for the Princess as their love isnt "allowed" due to different social castes). Yes the rules are outdated, but it was what was expected of princesses during that time period (educated in arts/music/well mannered and uneducated in science/math/philosophy). The cat is supposed to have dog traits, so aside from the tongue sticking out he also barks instead of meowing! A pauper is a commoner/peasant.
Second song, "Connected," the villain of the movie was turning the muses into stone to take over the Diamond Castle, but she needed to get rid of all of them to do so to corrupt everything and gain total power. One of the muses was trapped in the mirror as a protective measure to save her from the villain and to save the diamond castle.
Fourth song, "I Need to Know," she is a princess but after her family's ship was wrecked she washed up on the island with memory loss (her family is alive, she's reunited with her mother at the end). She was a child when it happened so she knew how to speak english before the shipwreck, she grew up and learned to communicate with animals Dr.DoLittle style. The prince is an explorer who goes out on expeditions and found the island, he wants to help her find her family, etc.
*FUN FACT! Julian from Princess and the Pauper and the explorer prince from The Island Princess are the same voice actor! Alessandro Juliani is known for his voice work, he voiced 5 different Barbie love interests) and is well known for his role in "The 100."
*ANOTHER FUN FACT!! The music producers/composers who worked on Princess and the Pauper also worked on Island Princess! They have the most beautiful harmonies and those two movies are the only ones where the male love interest(s) sing in the movie!

If you want to know the deal with Barbie in an Island Princess is: when she was younger (like around 10 or so) she was on a ship voyage but they hit a storm and she was knocked out or something along those lines. She washed up on the island where the animals took care of her. She does have vague memories of the past and a trunk that was washed up with her that has half her name on it. She remembers parts of a lullaby that her mom sung her and of course English but other than that she has no idea. Just a little background for you.
fun fact: in a lot of barbie movies, barbie is voiced by kelly sheridan, who played a main character in mlp fim lmao

The voice crack is because Julian is in love with Anneliese the girl in the painting and he got a bit carried away with his feelings for her. At this point in the movie she is missing and Erica has to pretend to be Anneliese so no one will notice. So Julian is also at this point worried about her safety.

I always love it when waiting for the moment someone realises just how truly good the Barbie movies can be. Through the craftsmanship of the music you can tell that everyone behind it cared what they were working for. Also no, you are not meant to hate Julian - the dude from the first song lolol. He and the prince from the final song "I Need to Know" is the same voice actor. The talent that man holds is incredible. I need more reacting to Barbie 😩😂

Theres a pretty big distinction between classic and modern barbie songs but both are great in their own way.
For classics some of the best are Rapunzel and 12 dancing princesses themes, all of island princess honestly, Free, and Written in your heart.
For modern, queen of the waves is an absolute bob, raise our voices, Life is a fairytale, Can you keep a secret, and the Here I am (finale version).
Please do another of these videos. I adore Barbie films and its great to see someone else get an appreciation for them.
Barbie movie songs rarely if ever disappoint
I've been singing these songs for years, I know them by heart. I just had my thyroid removed a few weeks ago and because of that surgery, my vocal chords are still trying to recover. I can't access the higher register of my voice (apparently it takes months to go back to normal) so I can't sing my favorite songs anymore. This video was very comforting in a way, getting to see someone listen to them for the first time.

The Asian Elephant is/was found throughout India and South East Asia, there's several species of Peafowl, all found in/around India and South East Asia and the Red Panda lives up a bit farther north in the southern portions of China. (the elephant's range overlaps with both the peafowl and panda but the panda and peafowl's ranges don't seem to overlap each other)

Barbie and the Diamond Castle was one of my favorite movies as a kid and highly recommend watching it. To give you more weirdness motivation the "Villain" is this Witch with a pet Dragon (I'm serious). It's an awesome movie and I'm not going to spoil anything, just watch it. I own Barbie as the Island Princess too which is a very cute and sweet movie. Also, if you want some REALLY banging tunes listen to the songs from Barbie: The Princess and the Pop Star. I own that one too and the music is awesome!

I love that more people get to fall in love with Barbie movie songs😍 Also, a few recommendations for just having a good time with Barbie songs: all songs from the movie "Big City, big dreams" and the series "It takes two". More classical Barbie songs to listen to are "Hope has wings" from "Barbie and the magic of pegasus", "Only a breath away" from "Barbie as Mariposa 2", "Shooting star" from "Barbie in the Starlight Adventure", "On top of the world" from "Barbie: Princess Charms School". And for the Barbie High School Musical called "Barbie: the Barbie Diaries", listen to "This is me". And definitely "Free" from "The Princess and the Pauper". And "Shine" from the 12 Dancing Princesses. I think it'd be easier to list which Barbie songs not to listen to🤷🏽♀️

I see that nobody recommands other songs from Rock N Royals and it's probably because many Barbie fans don't give a chance to newer barbie movies (which is sad because some of them are really good) so I'm going to recommend them for you:
-When you're a princess - what's fun with this song is that one character basically stops everything at the end because she finds it "boring" but it's actually not... like really not.
- Gotta Get To Camp - mostly to see chaotic and terrible dance moves.
- Raise our voices - criminally underrated.
From other movies there are many good songs but I'm gonna give you ones I haven't seen in the comments:
- Hope has wings from Barbie and the magic of pegasus - It's really an amazing song
- What's gonna happen from Barbie and the secret door - The first song of the movie and I honestly prefer it to If I had magic

I recommend This Feeling is Everything but the full version, Shooting Star also the full version and acoustic (both from Starlight Adventure), Shine (Barbie 12 Dancing Princesses), See you at the Finish Line (Barbie Big City, Big Dreams) and Constant as the Stars above, It's a nice soft song that I think you'll love.

PS: since they raised her she learned to communicate with animals, a normal person would only hear the sounds that an animal makes but for her it is as if she is talking to a person
