@@adamwiseman9938 Running a 32 Maximus and we run a 36 Bravo on occasion but it will spin it out of sight.. I have a 34 Maximus but its not as fast believe it or not...We got it running at 118mph right now going to try to bust 120 soon ...We are always so busy at the shop at that time so we never get to go.
I just picked up a 2002 29 Fountain Fever pretty cheap just to resell. Was curious if you have ever seen a 29 Fountain with big power like you have. Was wondering how it would handle it?
@@kunkelsmarine7120 Yah I would think the Fountain would handle it fine but was surprised I could not find any videos of them with big power in a 29 Fever. What does your boat weigh? Its sure very impressive the acceleration it has for a big heavy boat. Is the out drive that you have a Imco SC or the stronger SCX. How many out drives have you guys gone through in it? The Fountain I just picked up has the Imco Xtreme SC upper and the 2 inch lower. It just has a factory 575sci with the upgraded 700hp Super Chiller kit that the previous had a shop install when the boat was only a year old. Plus he had them install the the imco sc out drive at the same time and a few other odds and ends. After looking at the receipts from 2003 thought it was crazy he paid about $23000 to gain maybe 5 to 6 mph I am guessing. It has been sitting for probably at least 3 to 4 years. Has 152 original hours. The original owner passed way and the wife sold the boat to me. I have not had it out yet just been cleaning it up and doing all the basic services changing out all the fluids, filters, and plugs on it to make sure its all good before starting it. Was surprised the gas that I pumped out of it looked and smelled like like good gas but did not want to take the chance of running it. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for posting the videos of the Checkmate they are fun to watch.
@@race2race1 boat weighs about 5000 we run a IMCO S/C 1.50 ratio with a blueprinted lower standard length I've rebuilt it multiple times with 1400hp she's hard on gears lol
We've built a few hundred plus mph v bottom Checkmates most single engine...very few brands can you even get close to triple digits with in a v bottom let alone close to 120(it currently runs 118)
@@kunkelsmarine7120 I've had a whole bunch of different boats throughout my life, I had one Checkmate years ago but that particular model was a really slow Hull , it was a pulse 211,single outboard , one thing I will say is I used to take that boat out in the ocean and jump waves right along the shore as if I was driving a jetski and that boat took a lot of abuse, they are built well
I know...but you take what you can get when you go test...it goes faster but a single 30ft that runs real close to 120mph you need fairly calm conditions to hang it out.
This is my all time favorite video now!!! He handled that chine walk like a boss!!!!
Damn she got up in a hurry. Thumbs up to the driver
the checkmate boat gods, sweet ride..
Time of there life!!
Wow!
Is this the fastest Checkmate you guys have built? Also whats the fastest you've had a 251, 253, 259/270 running?
There are boys that talk and men that do.....Great job Kunkels Marine......
Thanks Richard! hoping to bring a new video to the channel soon..fingers crossed!!!
Is this the one with the #6 drive?
No... its got an IMCO S/C
wow.. very impressive! looks like it could use more pitch but looks like a handful to drive in rougher water. Doing the Shootout in lake of ozarks?

Very nice... Sure pulls hard and gets there at 115 pretty easy. Stay safe!

Papa ain't happy.
Love his cheeks flapping
It’s to calm you need a slight chop for max speed.

We have been putting together 100plus mph boats for customers for almost 30 years
