Here are a few tips for planning a camping excursion at a state park campground in California.
Book early. With so many amazing views and outdoor experiences, California state park campgrounds book fast. Plan your trip as early as possible to increase your chances of landing a spot.
RV size restrictions. Some state park campgrounds aren’t big rig friendly, so be sure to check each park’s sizing guidelines before booking your trip.
Rustic campgrounds. Only 24 of the state’s 87 park campgrounds offer water or electrical hookups, so be prepared to dry camp with your RV.
Fire bans. Before making a campfire, check to see if there are any fire bans in place.
Maximum stay. Most campgrounds feature a 30-day maximum stay limit; however, that can vary by state park.
