yep, if your aim is true then it should take at least 18 arrows as it takes 2 to break each shell from the underside and then a 3rd to actually destroy it
Indeed, I just beat the temple yesterday and I feel the emotion and fun that I didn't had in years, it give me the chills, a love letter to Wind Waker and one of the most epic boss battles of the franchise, it reminded me to that dragon boss battle in Twilight Princess too.
Personally, I fought Colgera as the first boss in ToTK. It wasn't a hard fight yet gives you an epic vibe, from going up through the storm to see the horizon, to the boss's introduction, to the fact this was all airborne battle. You don't know how to penetrate through its thick scale but once you found its weak point, all that left was legend. This was the beginning of the ultimate impression of ToTk.

Yo same. Tbf, I kinda stumbled into Rito Village after trying to finish all the labyrinths with 10 hearts. Which is what I would say if I didn't have 3 hearts at the time of fighting it. The key to that fight was using Keese wings to better aim your shots

This is from Wind Waker. Rito Village theme is literally the Dragon Roost Island theme. But this boss mixed mixes Dragon Roost and Molgera fight, also from WW.
It was the opposite for me, that was how I beat him on my first playthrough. I didn't know you could hit his weak spots from underneath with arrows until later lol
Wasn't aware you could use arrows to hit its weak spots. Honestly i thought the only way to damage it was to dive straight into it and smash strsight through like a hylian cannonball. In any case, hypest first boss in the series. Showcased the new dive mechanics, was a cool visual spectacle, absolutely loved it.
Well, yeah, but the game does nudge you towards the Wind Temple first, it's pretty clear the game wants you to do it before the others, I'd say it still counts as a first boss.
I fused bomb flowers to my arrows to deal most of the damage to Colgera in this fight, but when those ran out I resorted to jump attacking it’s weak points. This was a much better fight than Windblight Ganon in BOTW.
@@aaronbuffalo7769 Okay one, the dungeons can be done in any order. Two, the Lightning temple is without a doubt the best temple in the game. Thought it was unanimously agreed on from what I've seen. The fire temple is also fantastic. The wind temple is honestly just a better divine beast and the Water Temple sucks. Wind: Okay but too divine beast like Fire: Much better, interesting huge feeling themed dungeon, can be a bit confusing tho Water: Literally just some sky islands, barely feels like a dungeon Lightning: The most temple temple we have seen in years. Linear progression feeling like an indiana jones temple leading up to a main dungeon room with some extremely satisfying puzzels. There are lots of issues with this game and it personally did not fully meet my expectations, no idea what you're talking about tho.
You do not have to fire a single arrow in this fight. Just keep gliding and diving until Colgera shoots ice spikes. With the core exposed, just divebomb and do it 6 times
Using arrows is so lame, diving through is a lot of fun. I bet everyone who used arrows in this fight found it boring and everyone who did skydiving loved it.
I played this whole Rito quest section last weekend and had such a blast. This was such a fantastic boss battle and when the Dragon Roost Island theme started playing I got a huge smile in my face. So good!
Only one of the major bosses I've fought so far and I hope the others follow suit. An awesome reimagining of the classic Mol-style boss fights and a fantastic soundtrack too. I tried hard to enjoy BotW, but it fell short on a lot of critical places for my taste. But TotK seems to completely spin that around. Loving this game.
I've fought 3 of the alleged 6 story bosses, and so far each one has been leagues better than the blights, the dungeons are equally much better than the divine beasts, they still have that whole "activate the terminals" lay out, but they are much more fun to explore. All I will say is the Gerudo dungeon is my favorite right now, the build up to it, the dungeon itself, and the boss were all peak.
I'm up to the Fire Temple now and having an absolute blast. While the Wind Temple kind of felt like a better BotW dungeon, the Fire Temple feels straight up like a classic Zelda Dungeon.
When I first saw Colgera I thought, “That looks like Molgera” then the name popped up and I freaked out. It brought back so many memories of The Wind Waker.

There's more than one location, I found two spots in the top right of the depths, and another near the bottom center. Also other dungeon boses can show up in different areas of the depths too found the gerudo dungeon boss
I ran out of arrows during this fight lol and let me tell you, diving straight towards Colgera's icey weak spots while dodging his spike attacks is the definitive way to beat this boss haha! Also omg whoever composed the Colgera's theme i will kiss you-
how is nobody talking about how brutal this fight is? not in terms of difficulty, but just what we have to do. we have to either shoot out it's underside or divebomb in from the top to break open a layer of it's skin, and then reveal a veiny bone-like endoskeleton that you shatter, leaving giant holes in it's body. my first zelda game was breath of the wild so i don't know if the older games did this, and while i've seen most of the kirby final bosses, i didn't expect nintendo to go this hard with the visuals.
One of my favorite boss fights of all time. It felt so amazing to fight this thing in the air. I used a mix of arrows and just slamming myself into the weak spots with a Flamed Greatsword. The music also makes this seem so epic!
I was out of cold resistance and kept getting hit, had to constantly eat. And I had no idea you could have just used arrows I just decided to crack Link’s skull and dive into the crystals 😭
I discovered that Colgera can be killed with arrows instead of just nose diving through him by getting hit, trumbling downwards, open the paraglider, ascending...and head bumping into Colgeras weak spot from below, totally crushing it. Before that I thought, that the armor has to be launched off before the weak spot even exists, but no..its just below. So: crush the first one, wait for him to attack from below and then bullet time after he passed both remaining weak spots at once. This entire fight is done in like 40 seconds
It's amazing to me to see how many people didn't realize you could use arrows to damage its weak spots. I only assumed that's what you had to do because I immediately went below him to see if there was a weakspot since his spiky ice armor was on top (I didn't stay above him long enough to see that he actually shoots spikes at you and reveals his weak spot). It totally didn't occur to me to dive bomb his weakspot with Link's own body. That would have been so much cooler >_
Ngl you shouldn’t fight this guy as the first boss. I did and I died so many times. Fire temple boss was a cake-walk, Water temple was hard until I used Blue Jelly arrows. Haven’t tried the Temple in the gerudo region though.
Most fun I have with the bosses in TotK. Felt so epic, shooting my arrows in slow-mo but most fun was 'dancing' in the wind. Fought with arrows to the weak spots underneath and I was getting around since Colder decided to get up on my grill. Next thing I knew, he was died and I'm like 'how?'. Just found out you can faceplate into the weak spots LOL
I feel like the only person who nose dived into his ice parts like a missile instead of using (wasting) arrows. Only used an arrow on the last one. Shot his under belly when he was flying up from beneath
Did anyone think that the Colgera boss resembles the Skytails enemy in Skyward Sword? The Colgera heavily resembles the Skytails found in Skyward Sword, the only difference being, that the Skytails were about as big as Link.
I will say, this fight was an absolute cake walk when I did it because I had a lynel bow but god DAMN was it one of the most fun things I’ve done in the game so far

Best opening to a boss fight I've ever seen, from the musical flourishes to the cinematography. And the reworked Dragon Roost Island / Ruto Village theme is just special.
This boss is easy because link has bullet-time when shooting in the air, and also they make it so fragile that any hit take 10% of its life bar. Without those it would be very hard to deal with this one. Should make it harder in master mode since everyone enjoy the fighting moment

I nominate this as one of the greatest boss fights in the franchise.

Fought with arrows to the weak spots underneath and I was getting around since Colder decided to get up on my grill. Next thing I knew, he was died and I'm like 'how?'. Just found out you can faceplate into the weak spots LOL
I feel like the only person who nose dived into his ice parts like a missile instead of using (wasting) arrows. Only used an arrow on the last one. Shot his under belly when he was flying up from beneath
Did anyone think that the Colgera boss resembles the Skytails enemy in Skyward Sword? The Colgera heavily resembles the Skytails found in Skyward Sword, the only difference being, that the Skytails were about as big as Link.

I will say, this fight was an absolute cake walk when I did it because I had a lynel bow but god DAMN was it one of the most fun things I’ve done in the game so far
Yeah, I didn't have one when I first fought the boss, but it kinda feels like cheating to do rematches in the Depths with a Lynel bow.

Best opening to a boss fight I've ever seen, from the musical flourishes to the cinematography. And the reworked Dragon Roost Island / Ruto Village theme is just special.

This boss is easy because link has bullet-time when shooting in the air, and also they make it so fragile that any hit take 10% of its life bar. Without those it would be very hard to deal with this one. Should make it harder in master mode since everyone enjoy the fighting moment
This boss was kicking my butt until I found out you can just fire arrows at it’s icy part.
What I did was dive bomb through Colgera’s body.
Did you use fire fruit arrows are just dive into the ice when colgera did it’s ice shooting attack

This fight was fun, deginetly better than all the blight fights in bote for sure but i just hope the other dungeon bosses are harder. I wqsnt trying too hard and i two cicled it, one for each phase.
