The same rules apply to the blazer as to the suit jacket. Button up when standing and unbutton when sitting down.

There is a difference between a suite a suite, a blazer and a sport coat. They are not the same. While a blazer and a sport cost can be worn with jean but a stylish gentleman should never wear a suit jack with jeans.
