Wow! I love how it is actually in italian taste! I've heard a lot of these contemporary fuges, all of its authors perfectly knowing counterpoint, harmony, but don't have this bit of creativity which you represent. Thank you!
@@notacontronota This is the very first fugue that I see that could really pass for a lost work of Bach, more specifically the young Bach still under influence of Buxtehude, Reinken etc. All the others were inconvincing in one way or another. Now a 4 voice fugue please !

Wonderful piece! I'm glad it's written for the harpsichord and not the piano, the harpsichord, organ, and fortepiano have much more clarity and are better for fugues than any grand piano.

Even though the work stands alone beautifully, I would suggest recycling the fugal material to be used in an allegro movement if you ever write a concerto for cembalo. The balance and complexity is very organized!
Beautiful piece. I like the way major key is subtly mined in the melancholic subject, like the sun of Italy. I'm most glad that I fond someone who write original fugue in Baroque style. How many did you write so far? @@notacontronota Bar 2 first two beats outlines a c minor chord in second inversion. Same goes for bars 11, 24, and anywhere where the subject is in the bass. It's not a pedal point.
I disagree that it is stylistically wrong. Perhaps this use of the second inversion is scholastically wrong, but the composers of the time used it on the bass arpeggios, see for example the beginning of the courante of BWV 807. In my case it is also on a weak sixteenth note.
@@notacontronota Oh I love that suite, especially the prelude. :D Are you talking about the second note in the bass of the courante? I'd say there are two mitigating factors there. Firstly, the harmony can be seen to change to a chord of V there with the passing note B in the melody. I can certainly hear it that way. Secondly, the E in the bass itself is passing between two octave As; the first two beats of the bar can be seen as outlining a chord of I in root position. So it has correct interpretations on a micro and macro level.
Thanks for your reply. I posted a link to your piece on Facebook and a number of friends commented that they liked it too. The sound is really wonderful, so realistic. What software did you use to make this performance?
