The miata is much lighter so its corner entry was faster. However the rx8 has longer gear ratios and a much higher redline so it can accelerate evenly through the corner and then when exiting, the horsepower difference shows. The rx8 gains on the miata before the next corner and the cycle repeats and repeats. Mazda makes great cars regardless.
leolim79 I like this opinion the best. Both cars are extremely capable and I think the only real way to test which car is better through the course would be timed runs... all would need to have the same driver and take the average run time from each car. This was a bit frustrating to watch because momentum was disrupted on a few turns with each race and for both cars.
That's what you're meant to do with rotary engines. You've got to rev the absolute balls off them to get all the power out. In fact, in day to day ownership you need to redline them every now and then to keep it healthy.
For those wondering the Miata is tuned and evidently has parts from a company called Integral Kobe, they make good stuff, and some of their body parts for the NC look sick as hell...
The miatas corner entry may have been faster but the rx8 corner stability and mid corner grip really showed I owned one and it's got one of the best chassis money can buy. (Objectively speaking but it's true)
Yes, i do agree. It seem that he can bring out the best in the car he drives. So, it means that it does depend on the skills, courage and experience of the driver.
Blahblop123 the wheel base your speaking of I'm guessing is the length because the width of the rx8 and nc Miata is the same due to these two cars sharing almost identical chassis. Lol the more you know 😝
Rx8 is dead paper weight most of the time. The engine sucks and most troublesome engine in the world. That’s why they discontinued it, same as rx7. I don’t know 🤷🏻 why Mazda don’t just put their skyactive engine with twin turbo into rx7 and revolutionize the Rx7, I know it’s icon of rotary engine but it can be changed to be the best??? I think 🤔 it’s just waste of a iconic racer!!!
Because it really isn't a trash engine? I meaaaan I get it, the 13B-MSP found in the RX-8 was such a pain, but the 13B-REW/RE and previous rotaries were pretty solid engines overall They require more care than your average piston engine but they're far more simpler to work on and the concept is a helluva lot cooler if you ask me And well they didn't discontinue the rotary because it was bad, they discontinued it because emission standards were (and still are) so strict that they just couldn't make the rotary any more carbon cleaner without sacrificing reliability, I feel like they learnt from the 13B MSP Renesis And don't get me wrong, skyactive engines are reliable (diesel ones aside) but they sound so boring and so average
@@Bronyfur05 On top of this, the 6 Port Renesis is the 2nd most reliable rotary engine I've ever seen. Lower maintenance and less shit to break. I mean, the most annoying thing about it is the Airbox!

Two fantastic sports cars from Mazda..both have their merits and appeals but still, they are very fun to drive, especially on tracks or winding roads.

Mazda recommended to rev all the way from time to time to clear the carbon buildups in the chambers.

2:53 that noise man
Its much more to it that long vs. short wheelbased cars. It mainly comes down to suspension setup and tires on the touge.

NC Miata shares the chassis (albeit slightly shortened)
hows the maintenance on your rx8? i assume your broke now 😂
@@courier007 So indeed, that makes RX-8 chassis better since it has the roof.
After watching this I want both cars. I own an NC and definitely want to do the same with gauges.
No matter the car. Tsuchiya is a beast and that car will always show to be faster as he death corners!

I like that mx5
How about mx5 custom a 13b😃
how much power does the rx-8 make and how much it cost to bring it to this level?
I would hardly call that easy, but a win's a win.
orido what are you doing . that rx8 sounds is like it is screaming for help .
Because they're legit race car drivers wearing fire suits with sponsors on them.

because they are... mighty morphin time
Rotary no Kami-same xd
the japanese found somthing here in the whole world we say street racing is illegal here they make them legal affordablle races
Rx8 is engine nightmare, I'll take the miata nc any day..;p
Butthurt?
S2 engine is far more reliable
毎回思うが土屋びいきしすぎ
Why do they all look like power rangers? Well except for that girl of course haha
Miata all the way. Rx8 is engine problem hell!!!.....;p
Skill issue
Miata nc is the best!!!....;p
let a honda make that same sound and people will call it rice ....hm . i dont get people
Hondas don't make that type of sound.
Honda's don't sound like that
Hondas sounds better or just as good
Honda sounds like what? A rotary? Uh no. I think that rice crap came from dudes with sohc civics with ridiculous sounding exhaust.early 2000's.

S2 is actually reliable
