I've watched this so many times and it still gets to me every time and I'm almost 50. I think David's appeal transcends age, boundaries and gender. I agree! Esp. that DAVID ARCHULETA WAS THE REAL AMERICAN IDOL SEASON 7, PERIOD. END OF SUBJECT. Cook has talent, but DA deserved the title. He is in a class all his own. A STAR was born Shop Around night. DA has only JUST BEGUN to show us what he's made of. A remarkable "old soul" w/ depth, a razor sharp focus & passion for music. We can hardly take it all in now (I too am an older obsessed fan, who can't help but be hooked!) DA's rise to success has no limits; the best is yet to come!

If you really listen to the lyrics "lost in a dream" "where I belong" "I can fly" one realizes this is a love song for we fans who have given David a chance to fulfill his destiny. What a joy for us!

The last 30 seconds of this performance is, without question, the most beautiful thing I have ever ssen in my life. David is so moved that he has to stop singing, and the smile on his face has no words worthy of description.
i'm not a religious guy, but, it's as if God has sent this boy to us to reteach us how to feel joy, compassion, kindness and friendship. He gave him this magnificent talent in order to get and keep our focus on these values. He put him on American Idol because of the mass audience it reaches, and then made him finish second to teach us how winning is not as important as being faithful to our values and doing our best. Everyone knows that David was the best singer on that show,but now,who cares.

As somebody on one of his fansites said "he is a piece of art" and he definitely is. He's very, very, very close to perfection. I "adore" this kid! God bless him!
