I love my 2x! It’s a trade off for the light-weighted keys, but fantastic to take with you, especially with it’s backpack. The organ has gotten a good facelift with the 2.0 update, which included crosstalk, rotary controller with the pedal, and a transistor-type organ model, as opposed to the tone wheel model.
Hello friend, I would like to ask you, can the keyboard be used as a midi controller via usb, to play vsts on my pc? and another question, can you change the velocity curves of the keyboard, using it as a usb midi controller? I don't want to use it as audio interface. just as a midi controller. And my last question, how about the keys? it feels good? are they noisy? I've seen videos where it seems that when you play hard, all the keys sink a bit at the same time, is that right? Please, I would like to know your opinion, thank you very much.
I own one too. I like it, but they so desperately need to fix the sound of the distortion effect when applied to the organs. It simply makes them sound awful, and would be such an easy fix. It works fantastically as in with the controller and keyboard in my studio. It’s additional ability to merge midi information from one of the keyboards is fantastic, and at 7 kg is really good to transport. I currently fix the problem with the open signs by connecting my iPhone via a camera connection kit and running the VB3 organ app on my iPhone. This works really well and sounds absolutely amazing. The door bars or even configured to work correctly. The sound comes out of the output of the Numa compact 2x, because it acts as a audio interface with my iPhone application, with no noticeable latency.
Studiologic just released an updated firmware which improves the FX engines including the drive parameter on FX1. They also added more organ setting in the GLOBAL menu including ROTARY DRIVE and LEAKAGE parameters. (Still not the greatest sounding distortion effects but it's a step up from before.)
It is now, 3/24/22, You should hear what I do with this board now. I have it down pat!!! Plus I got all the new samples loaded into it! What a great piece of gear! I love this thing!
Great video!!! As an old prog-rocker, love the extremely light weight, low-low price, and built-in EFX/speakers. But the real deal is the QUALITY of sounds---OMG, that CP-70 electric grand, the Super-Supertrampy Wurli, Genesis/YES.Moody MELLOTRONS (!!!!!) and....AND.....wait for it---a fabulous OB-esque synth that makes me wanna "JUMP." (JUMP!!!)
Cool video. The led Zeppelin thing at 2120 was awesome. I got the previous version of this board and have really enjoyed it. I hope I've got those sounds you were using on mine.
Excellent demonstration thank you! Just purchased one today but I've been checking out on YT for a while now. Had the good fortune of trying one out in a music store. Also I used to play an old Studiologic 88 key controller (DIN MIDI only) that was just a pleasure to use!
I also have a fatar Studiologic 88 key controller, a 900*. Maybe a stupid question but can I attach it's midi out to the numa and use the numa as a sound module or even play both of them at the same time ? * medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/fatar-studiologic-studio-900-22328.jpg
@@HansKeesom Yes you could absolutely do that with your MIDI keyboard (or any other MIDI source) by hooking up to the MIDI input on the Numa and setting the desired MIDI out channel on the external keyboard. You can use the external MIDI source as if it were the "UPPER" or "LOWER" zone of the Numa while still playing the Numa keyboard at the same time (like the SPLIT function but without sacrificing key range). For instance you could set it up like a Hammond organ with lower and upper keyboards with different drawbar settings, but of course it could be any sound on the Numa not just organ!
I'm an organist first and foremost and I'm very impressed with the organ sounds despite the budget price of this once instrument. Yes indeed it can't compete with the likes of a Nord Stage or Yamaha YC but it's only a fraction of the price! These are available in Australia for about $1000 so it's a bargain down under! What's the keyboard action like considering it's not an actual weighted keyboard, particularly when playing piano and electric piano sounds? Oh by the way, fantastic video and great playing. Keep up the great work buddy!
Thanks for this! I was considering this board and was thinking last time I’d had a semi-weighted piano-style keyboard was the Roland A30 in the 90s- interesting you felt the similarity!
Hi Keith! Greetings from Nigrán, Galicia, Spain! My name is Felipe. I'm watching the videos on your UA-cam channel and I like your vibe. I am writing to you because I need your help: I am an amateur keyboardist and, after 12 years retired from the musical world, I want to buy a keyboard with sounds, mainly organs, and that also has drawbars. My budget is small and my main option is the Studiologic Numa Compact 2x. You have one and I would like your opinion on the quality of its organ sounds. Are these so lazy? My other option, a little more expensive, is the Roland VR09 (you also have one), but your video about the difficult handling of its menu, to save the presets and the problems with the volumes, have created serious doubts in me. I know I'm not going to have the Hammond or Nord Lead quality, but my question is whether the Studiologic organ sounds are good enough to buy it or are they weak enough to go for the Roland. About Studiologic I like the 88 keys semi-weighted, weight, easy to use...but I wouldn't want to buy it and regret it after a few months, because of its sounds... My idea is to buy on the second-hand market and the Numa is about 110 dollars cheaper than the Roland. What do you think? Thanks for your time! Greetings!
Hi, a question for you? Does the compact 2 have the same sounds of the 2x? Can you download the same sounds for 2x available for the 2x? Besides the drawbars, are there ebay other major difference between 2 and 2x?
Hey there great review thanks! So I’ve had a Yamaha CK88 stage piano for awhile and love it. Started using it with my new blues band but 90% of the songs are Hammond organ (the rest piano/EP) - the ck has great organ sounds and a decent enough Leslie but the fully weighted action is just too heavy for that stuff. Been contemplating adding a Hammond M-Solo (new 8 lb 49:key Hammond) but it’s super $$$$, and then I’m using a 49 key board 8 lb board for 90% of the songs. Do you think the 2X would be a good compromise? I wish it had the waterfall keys from the Numa organ because even semi weighted keys that are piano style still aren’t ideal (lips and sharp edges etc). Thanks again for the review would love to hear your thoughts - get the little Hammond and carry it with my CK or get the Numa for half the price and maybe sell the CK?
Thanks, Hey Bro, one of my newest Videos is the Numa 2x playing thru a real Leslie 145. You got to check it out! The keyboard is a BEAST! It blew away my Roland VR09b! There's a video for that too. Check it out and let me know what you think. Thanks for watching.
Well the 2x is semi-weighted, but to be honest, I can do all my riffs on it without even noticing the semi action. I just love the whole board .In my live rig, it's job is Pianos.@@islandtony5009
I go back and forth between 2 choices. I sometimes use the Korg Krome EX 73 and sometimes the Roland VR09b. Most of the time it's been the Roland. It has a lot of very cool sounds in it. The poly synths are great, it's got a awesome lead sax, plus the Vocal scatt is awesome. If I had a 4 tier stand, I would use them both.@@islandtony5009
"I don't know why you would ever need an electric grand sample" ....subbed. That's all it takes for me. I've think this every time I am going through a keyboard library and get to the electric grands. I usually udder those exact words to myself. Seems like once we had awesome samples of real actual grand pianos, all the e grand sounds should have just faded away. But they held on. There is only one song I can think of that has even close to that sound on it that I like, and that is Beth/Rest by Bon Iver and I think that is actually a wurli sound. Someone please correct me on it, I'd love to know for sure, because I really love that song and have some super deep tied emotions to it that I can't even really justify or explain tbh. It's got that Bruce Hornsby kind of vibe, which I grew up listening to and loving and he actually gets up and plays with Bon Iver sometimes, including this song.
Can the Numa Compact 2 sound packs be downloaded as well. Seems there is a difference in available packs for each keyboards "sounds" page. Thanks for sharing this!

It is a great piano! Since I can't play fully weighted board, this is perfect for me and I am in love with it!
