No, it's not. Around the turn of the last century a performer could only change masks up to 3 times in a performance and the masks were made out of pig bladders. These modern silk masks are much thinner making many more layers possible. Traditional Sichuan opera can incorporate face changing by means of quickly smearing makeup as well.
It is done with sheer painted silk masks. Not electronic. I have no idea the mechanism for moving the masks. You might also enjoy Western instant costume changing.
