thank you so much, The transmission bench videos dont cover the AOD exactly, i appreciate you taking the time to make these videos, I damaged my pump doing the old newbie thing, im wanting to possibly just overhaul her for fun, do you recommend getting the overdrive servo pin kit, i just got the clutches and steels/ gaskets filter
@Johandsilva Valves usually stick because they get dirty. Clean the parts very good with a solvent and make sure they arent sticking before you put it back together. If the valve is as clean as can be and still sticks you may need a new VB. If you saw that the 1-2 shift valve was stuck both times you checked it then I would say that the governor is probably good.
@mymachoman Sounds like it could be an electrical problem with the shift solenoids. There should be an electrical connector on the trans somewhere, check that first for any obvious damage.
@bujashaka When you get a rebuild manual for the transmission there should be a diagram in it that tells where each ball goes and not every hole gets a ball.
@Johandsilva It's sounding like you are not getting to 4th gear and are stuck in 3rd. If you are in 4th gear then it could be slipping to produce that high of RPM. It sounds like the TV pressure is too low if the gears are changing at too low of a speed.
another amateur appreciating your time and trouble. tried tapping in the pressure sleeve, and the valve galled the inside of the sleeve, so, ded in the water till I can get a new sleeve.
i just put together a 4R75W transm looks like the one you are working on it is shifting ok but the O/D light is flashing and the " transm fault " words came on, on my dash were my mileage use to go do you know if is going to turn off the lights by itself or i have to reset it someway
@bujashaka Yes, different models of transmissions will have different setups and even some transmissions of the same model will have different valve body configurations depending on what they were used in so it is best to have the diagram when working on them.
samething i would remember when you talking it apart BIG part of takiing it apart. is put the screws in many boxes, but i want to thank for the video its helpful,
yes, i have a 04 f150 5.4 liter 4x4... when the transmission gets hot and shifts from 1st to 2nd it shudders, hesitation, vibrations type of sound/feeling but only does it when its hot... whats the most likely cause?? 1-2 accumulator spring, or low-reverse sprag?? any help will be greatly appreciated
The valve is the single my complex and most failure prone part of AOD transmissions. If you'd like to rebuild your AOD, spend the extra money you're saving an buy a reman'd valve body from TCI as they are dyno tested and use a constant pressure valve which eliminates the TV cable completely. Sonnax sells thicker valve bosy to case gaskets as most AOD will have been overheated during their lifetime and cases become warped.
@mymachoman Your sun gear is bad. Total transmission failure is next. You should lose reverse soon. Get a transmission kit which includes screens, filter, and new fluid as well as gaskets and take down to your local mechanic and have him drop the pan and check it out. He'll let you know what the situation is.
Looks like a lot of patience is needed for this part!

@Johandsilva It could be the throttle valve cable is not adjusted properly or a stuck governor or a stuck 1-2 shift valve

how heavy is a AOD transmission?

@sugarcookies342008 might be a stuck 2-3 shift valve

what does the valve body do?

How can you remenber where goes each piece??
TCI constant pressure valve body for Ford AOD automatic transmission can be found using any search.
@cory2146 It's basically a hydraulic computer that controls the shifing of the transmission
3/8 impact drill works way faster than a socket wrench for this stuff lol
Ax4n trans?
very good work
what is this out of
