I could write a page of gratitude for your continuous support, but I will limit myself to a profound and a heartfelt THANK YOU! You beautiful silky voiced man you...
Cheers Adam! As a Gwent Illustrator, I feel very honoured by your kind words about our work! Love your content man, some of these illustrations were surely done while listening to some of your great videos ;)
A Leshen is actually an interpretation of the Slavic Leshy, which is a nature spirit that protects the forest and leads travellers astray. Looking into the real world mythology that inspired these creatures is always fascinating to me
Ah ok cool, thank you for that explanation! In that case, it looks like it is indeed a variation of the Wendigo - which is also a spirit of the forest/shapeshifter who manipulates people into the woods as well - it can be identified by its glowing green eyes - definitely a relation there especially since the core appearance is pretty much the same
True yeah, it's always interesting to me when completely separate cultures end up having similar mythologies. Its a good way to remember that we're all the same deep down, and as a species we tend to find similar things scary or hard to explain, and so we make similar myths and legends. Anyway, excellent video man, always love hearing your insights!
Funny thing about the poor fucking infantry in the witcher lore, they saved the whole north by stopping the west nilfgaardian flank during the battle of brenna, kinda cool that these poor farmers and peasnts turned out to save everyone
Also I love the Voice acting in the Witcher. The British accents make my day. It's funny to hear my own accent (Birmingham) being used for the low-level rude and foul guards. Spot on
It's actually cool that you can play Gwent as its own CCG on Steam or GoG for free. I loved collecting cards and playing against other players. Also I would love to see an art of Dishonored 2. I have the book and the art is phenomenal!
I ordered this as I love illustration and the GWENT card art has been some of my favorite art to look at lately. I'm also doing ART WOD and I can see where it's really helping my skills after just a few cycles.
I can't be the only one whose Geralt would rather run for the hills than play a game of Gwent? :D I love the art but ohmygosh it is sorta intimidating and I suck at it and I might learn it one day... someday...
obligatory note on Leshen/Leshy - they are of Slavic origins, as their name could be understood as 'forest' in most Slavic languages, in general people believed them to be rulers of the forest, often depicted with deer horns and surrounded by wolves or bears; it was believed that if you met leshen, it meant you got lost in the forest, and unless you turned all your clothes to other side and walked the opposite direction, it would lead you astray and kill you
You always speak in so much detail about stuff like contrast, lighting, composition, etc (fundamental stuff) and I realize the art school I went to never taught any of this shit properly. :/ Great video though, I adore the art of Gwent standalone cards, even though the actual game itself is something I only touch once every so often. I'm not huge on card games because you end up never seeing over 75% of the cards, (and in turn the amazing art), in any actual matches because they are so meta defined.
There are physical cards, two decks came with the collector's edition, but the game was really unbalanced back then and it's a bit unplayable. There's also 6 decks you can buy from China on ebay, but I think it might be a bootleg set?

adrian smith is my hero, his work for warhammer is like the best for me.
The Baron/Lubberkin story arc was absolutely amazing! The art was just as amazing.
Funny thing about the poor fucking infantry in the witcher lore, they saved the whole north by stopping the west nilfgaardian flank during the battle of brenna, kinda cool that these poor farmers and peasnts turned out to save everyone

A single piece of original Magic The Gathering art has sold for $80,000, maybe more last years?

Please review the art of Sekiro
I’d love to but there aren’t any books available that aren’t horribly overpriced

Well that’s very reassuring! And yes indeed, my family name on my mother’s side is Zolkiewicz”
