Hi everyone!! We will be doing the drawing for the Code Zero backpack on Saturday February 11th. If you received a 'reply' from an MJ account before this, please disregard as that is spam. We are notifying UA-cam to get this fixed.
I know the daily grind can become it's own kind of prison, but don't give up! I am so excited to see you both take this build all the way to the end, and it's a special treat for me to watch it all happen! Thank you!
Thanks for a Day in the Life Video. The build is progressing well and you are doing a fantastic job. I know building a boat is a lot of work but it will be all worth it in the end.
The not glamorous sleeping conditions and the hard work 7 days a week on the boat is just a temporary thing 🤞🏻 when the boats done you get to enjoy the fruits of all that hard work. Before you mentioned the end of day editing I was thinking how amazing it was you were putting out videos of this quality with just 1-2 hours editing a day, but the extra few hours at night means more like 3-4 hours a day, still that's under 30 hours a week (or episode) that's still pretty amazing, good work Jess 👍🏼
The dedication, perseverance and attention to detail day after day, week after week, month after month is EXTRAORDINARY! I am certain that I would have lit an enormous bonfire under the boat long ago if it had been my task. I admire the two of you massively. I hope to goodness you properly give yourselves "weekends" - whatever days of the week you choose - where you don't work on the boat, but sleep/watch or play sport/read books/go for a long walk/watch TV/sky-dive/go fishing or whatever tickles your fancy non-boat related
True! This is not unlike the movie Groundhog Day, except you are making progress on a daily basis. Years ago, I stripped and sanded the shingles and trim on a 100 year old Dutch Colonial home in the Northeast - I know the feeling of getting dust and grit in your hair and every orifice of your body, rinsing it off at night with aching arms, and repeating the process the next day. But, you make progress every day, and the end result with be so worth it!! Keep up the great work, especially the teamwork!!
Everything worth doing right… takes a lot longer than we dream. Keep up the good work and continue to stay the course. Your persistence will be evident in the final product!
I seen the delivery of your ship just came up in the algorithm , you two are certainly committed to your project . Definitely No flakey relationship which beautiful to see . Keep up the hard work you will get there in the end . Inspirational.
I’m amazed at your commitment day in day out and the drive to keep going. I don’t think I would be so strong. Really enjoy your videos, keep going good luck
That was a fun episode. It helps to understand how much work you two put in, seeing a timeline. You guys really do roll in a westerly flow. Yesterday must have been fun.
Thanks for sharing life in y’all’s day. Don’t feel alone in that lack of progress or that it takes longer then estimated to complete a step. I have the same issue with all my projects. The fun is in the journey. Keep with it.
i understand how hard and time consuming is all that work that you are doing ....my day is filled with car building process so i understand you....keep doing it ...and at the end it will be rewarded with moments that you will remember and appreciate till the rest of your life ....keep up the good work.. cant wait to see the final result .
Awesome progress... really like seeing how your design changes differ from the original... hope they inspire build changes further down the line for other Max 42 owners. Stay safe.
You bring us inside a much more detailed world of careful boat building than I ever would have expected before watching your videos. Thanks for the care with which you create your videos!
I think of all the build episodes this is the one that left me flat or depressed the most, it seems like the end is so far away and a days toil makes little difference. I guess it’s a passion project and the end result will be all the more satisfying but I can’t help but think getting some of the Vietnamese guys over for a week or two would be worth the investment. I itchy and sore from just watching. Cheers
Hope you guys dream of the day you are cruising and enjoying the fruits of your labour, its a given at that point you will look back and say - it was definitely worth it !
Congratulations on getting as far as you have, with patience. The amount of time fairing in incredible. I now see why older cats had fabric on inside walls and ceilings and why newer cats have pre-done/gelcoated modules that they drop into place and tab in. Can't wait for a launch in the future.
I did naval engineering, in shipyards, for a career and it is completely overwhelming the amount of detail that goes into any seagoing vessel. But, one day you wake up and it’s done. The bigger the effort the bigger the reward
It's so much more un glorious than people think in your everyday life. Yall put in so much time and effort and it's going to be a long road still before you get to reap the rewards but when you do it's going to be fantastic and I'm so happy to be along for the ride.
The boat is a lot of hard work. Its also coming along. Be nice to get a timeline for when some of the wiring/ plumbing goes in. i admire your work ethic
I understand Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts I was in both. I had for years a coed Explorer post and was the camping person for my wife's girl scout troop. I look back with fond memories of camping and back packing with both. I continue to be amazed with the closeness that you two have. My wife passed away over ten years ago and I have become addicted to You Tube.
Have you guys thought about trying to use Festool Sanders? For me it was eyeopening how much easier it was to sand with a Festool Sander versus the other sanders I had been using. I really enjoying sanding now. With that being said i realize I might not feel like that sanding 7 days a week 4-6 hours a day. Enjoy the videos and bringing us along for the journey.
Feels like I am a time traveler , last time I saw you guys , you were just off loading the hulls etc . Tonnes of work done. All that changing of clothes must be a pain , let alone waiting for the place to warm up .
Have you all considered using a Straight Line Sander? Very popular in automotive "fairing" body work when rough blocking out body panels. $60-500. Hutchinson even makes an air long board.
Thanks for the "day in the life of" episode. I don't think we all knew it was that long of a day - but I guess we should have since it takes a lot to build a boat from the ground up and finish it in your own lifetime!
So much bonding, filling, sanding, etc, (and filming+editing!) and overall so very many details - thoroughly impressed each time I check in on you two!!
Still think you are crazy as bed bugs but your dedication to accomplish this build is unreal. Also you both are looking a little tired. Pace yourselves, we want you to be able to enjoy this once you are done. Take care.
It is relentless hard work, boat building and video creation. The small details and fairing take time, the finished product will be all the better for it.
Hi Guys, This is an impressive feat and seeing your day leaves me with a question. I can see you are both reasonably fit and healthy and get that construction and sanding are physically taxing, especially when jess contorts into cupboards, lockers and the bilge. How do you both stay fit? Is there a yoga session you do or were you both contortionist acrobats in a previous life? I understand you are sailors and active, and younger then me, but I’m envious of your focus, discipline and physical and mental stamina. Kudos to you both.
This is not a comment about a backpack. I live on KI and keep thinking I'll see you in the grocery store or someplace, but I never do. :o( Someday! Love watching the progress - so impressive and it'll all be worth it on launch day!
Thanks for the “Groundhog Day” episode, whenever we feel overwhelmed with our boat projects we just watch an episode of MJ Sailing and realize we don’t have it that bad after all. Have fun you kids.
Woaw, exciting to see what a full day's work means to you. What a job it is to build a boat from scratch, the thumbnail image in the intro gives it all another perspective. Go on sanding... o GREAT luck with the rest of the job!
Using a flat putty knife that's only 2 inches wide works on edges, but.... There is a drywall tool that you might look for: a corner trowel. They're made in inner and outer styles, and feature a very close to 90 degree turn in the blade, which works to make that edge smooth. No little overdrips that you have to knock off or sand off.....
I use to fiberglass the blade of my hockey sticks when I was a kid...It taught me a valuable life lesson ...never pursue a career doing fiberglass work.
We’re in the process of having a Vision 444 built and the build is very similar. Learning a lot from you guys about the fine details the crew in factory does day in and day out.
Great video guys. Matt, I can relate to your experience of putting in a full days work with not much to show for it. I built an 18ft traditional gaff cutter and there were many days when you wonder where the time went. However, there also days when a significant change occurs which more than makes up for the slow days. Jess - do you keep notes when you’re filming as an aide memoir or do you just watch all the footage back and edit from there? Keep going guys - the big pay off is when you tell interested onlookers that you built it yourself. I get some great reactions.
You Guys inspire us with all your hard work and keeping you hands to the grindstone each and every day, as we have seen in the past you and Matt make it work out so well!!
Hi everyone!! We will be doing the drawing for the Code Zero backpack on Saturday February 11th. If you received a 'reply' from an MJ account before this, please disregard as that is spam. We are notifying UA-cam to get this fixed.
And I thought I won!😂😂😂! These spammers are sooooo annoying!
I turn them in because I'm soooooooo tired of their crap. But I don't think UA-cam is getting any closer to shut down the scammers
i thought i won too, but was not willing to down load another app.
Your catamaran build has been very entertaining to watch. Love how you're able to customize the boat to your needs and desires.
We're making personal changes just about every day!, Lol
It's a race to the finish....... Life on the Hulls vs. MJ Sailing!
from where you guys started, to now, is mind blowing.
You should see how different it looks now that we've faired the galley. 🤩
You need some timers for the heaters so the boat is toasty when you get there at 7:30🤟🏼🤟🏼🇦🇺
Your perseverance is nothing short of amazing. One of my favorite channels.
I know the daily grind can become it's own kind of prison, but don't give up! I am so excited to see you both take this build all the way to the end, and it's a special treat for me to watch it all happen! Thank you!
This was a new take on the same jobs over and over again. Good luck and thanks for taking us along.
Thanks for a Day in the Life Video. The build is progressing well and you are doing a fantastic job. I know building a boat is a lot of work but it will be all worth it in the end.

The “yachting life” is so relaxing and glamorous…..
I like the detail you show in your videos. It gives viewers an idea of how much work it takes to build a boat.
Hands down my favorite channel. It's gonna be beautiful when it's done.
The dedication, perseverance and attention to detail day after day, week after week, month after month is EXTRAORDINARY!
I am certain that I would have lit an enormous bonfire under the boat long ago if it had been my task. I admire the two of you massively.

We usually work 7 days a week for 7-8 weeks straight, and then take a week off to visit friends or family. ❤️

You two are the perfect team. Not many people could do what youre doing.Amazing
Thank you for making these videos, just astonishing what goes into making a large cat.
This is what commitment looks like.
Tony & Susan here, reminds us of our daily life here in Michigan. We hope at some point the days are less work and more play.
Love watching your build progress. You've come so far already.
I seen the delivery of your ship just came up in the algorithm , you two are certainly committed to your project . Definitely No flakey relationship which beautiful to see . Keep up the hard work you will get there in the end . Inspirational.
Thanks guys - great real life footage - beats TV any day of the week. Can't wait till launch
I’m amazed at your commitment day in day out and the drive to keep going. I don’t think I would be so strong. Really enjoy your videos, keep going good luck
It will be nice to see you and Matt back in the Caribbean cutting through the water on your cat.
That was a fun episode. It helps to understand how much work you two put in, seeing a timeline.
You guys really do roll in a westerly flow. Yesterday must have been fun.
I admire your work ethic and how your efforts are expended on your passion.
I cant believe how much you guys work! Cool episode!
It's a labor of love, but we know it will be well worth it in the end. 🥰
Thanks for sharing life in y’all’s day. Don’t feel alone in that lack of progress or that it takes longer then estimated to complete a step. I have the same issue with all my projects. The fun is in the journey. Keep with it.
Amazing tenacity, God bless you guys!
Great to see the REAL side of a boat build. Thank you for sharing!

Have enjoyed watching your build. Love your kitty! A day in the life was great. Thanks for sharing!
Keep up the great work and everyday of work is one day closer to the warm days on the water. God bless you and Matt.
That was really enjoyable watching a day in your guys life. I love watching you guys.
Thank you!!

I think we've almost forgotten what it's like to be out on the open sea!! But hopefully sometime next year we'll be back to it.
Great idea, showing your typical day...enjoyed it!
I love the “Day in the life” format.
Its an impressive task you have set out to. Looking forward to seeing you in warm surroundings.
You two are hard workers, keep it up and you'll be out sailing again soon!
Really enjoyed the day. Knew you lived in the powerboat, but did not know it was in the water. Thanks.
The boat is a lot of hard work. Its also coming along. Be nice to get a timeline for when some of the wiring/ plumbing goes in. i admire your work ethic
Really admire your resolve and dedication in building your CAT!!! Look forward to every video and really want to see it in the water!!

Cheers......all I could think of is the Beatles and 'A day in the Life'. Keep warm as it's only around freezing here in Edmonton Alberta.
After freezing temps this week in Maryland, we'll be getting much nicer weather back next week. 😃
I do like these 'day in the life" videos and yours was great. Gave a full view of the time it takes to build a yacht. Thanks
All this hard work is going to pay off big time, I’m excited for you

When you sail this boat, you will know every inch of it so intimately that you will be as one.
That is a big benefit of doing it ourselves. 😃
Such endurance and what a great job. One day the mooring lines will be cast off.
All your hard work is coming together.
Interesting video, nice change of pace. BTW, I like how you finally got rid of the old opening vid. Keep up the good work.
You two are doing an amazing amount of work! All the best!
Feels like I am a time traveler , last time I saw you guys , you were just off loading the hulls etc . Tonnes of work done.

Always great to see your progress
No way I could accomplish such a major project. Impressed with your efforts. Nice to see Georgie as well.
Huge project, most would never attempt this.
Great job guys, keep up the good work, I rock my wings every time time I fly over. Your local Kentmorr airport manager 🛩️
Hey Pete!! I keep meaning to get your number off Tucker's phone! We'll keep an eye out for you in the sky! Hope you see you two again this year.
@@MJSailing I just reminded Tucker to send my number over to you guys.
That’s one heck of a day guys!! Keep the faith
It's pretty cool seeing the cats that adapt to sea life.
We adopted Georgie when she was six months, so it's pretty much the only life she's known. I think she likes boats better than homes. 🤩
So much bonding, filling, sanding, etc, (and filming+editing!) and overall so very many details - thoroughly impressed each time I check in on you two!!
Kudos to you both! I don't think I could handle that lifestyle. I would want to just be sailing. ⛵
My best friend in High school dad was a did wet plaster. He always came home all covered in dust like you guys are.
We will be SO happy when the interior finally gets painted!
I think old life looks much more fun.... realised I'm now of an age when my first thought was, "oh, your poor knees!".
Thanks guys, looking great.
Nice to see you get time to sit and relax. We always see you go, go, go.
Loving the storage storage very well thought out
Admire the work that you two are doing, amazing job being done.

I can’t wait to see the components you guys instal. It’s hard watching the tedious work of fairing but well worth the wait. Great job guys.
Everyday you are closer to being back in the water!!
I love the Code Zero back pack. Thanks for the great video.❤
I use to fiberglass the blade of my hockey sticks when I was a kid...It taught me a valuable life lesson ...never pursue a career doing fiberglass work.

Hard work, commitment, each step is a step forward. Thank you for the inspiration to keep going.
Just found your site and I have enjoyed the build you guys have done so far.
Very courageous and motived. Bravo
This was a really great episode. Feels like I was there with you today. But i wasn’t, I am in the Caribbean, where its nice and warm 😂😉
