Hi Eric, I beat those Kuboto tyres were expensive but they are on a important piece of equipment. Once again you are thinking of ways to use old material for a new project. You know how warm it's been getting in the parlour and to give the cows are cool off then is a great idea. Good husbandry always pays off in the long run and making your cows cooler is a good move. Always knew it was going to be a hot nasty day when the auto sprinklers were running already at 5am, but there was no better place to be on the whole farm on a hot day. Congrats on the baby Eric. I for one really appreciate the effort and time you put into making your videos on top of everything else you have on the go.
I was a dairy farmer on a kibbutz here in Israel and we installed a watering system in the herd Temperatures here run in the high eighties to high nineties from June to October so the herds are very affected by heat The important point is that it is the evaporation of water that cools the cows It takes 540 times more calories to evaporate water than to raise it by one degree So a wet cow then air blowing in it is the most efficient method That is the idea with the sprinklers over the feeding area
Congrats on the new member to the family. Temperatures up there in Pennsylvania sound the same as here in Florida high 90’s during the day, evenings in the mid 70’s the misters are definitely a must for the cows.

Instead of spraying them in line at the milking staiton, why not place the water over the exit line. each cow leaving is sprayed by at least 9 0r 10 nozzles as they walk along in file. keeps water off the milker heads and milkers. seems like they would get more water on them that way.

Congratulations on your new daughter. Cows are a big furnace so hot temperatures are very hard on them. Water intakes increase and the feed intakes drop accordingly. Water on them in the parlor excellent. You could make an arch in the barn with sprinklers on a sensor that they can use also between milkings. Check the Water temperature in their drinking water in case it is to warm and making bad bugs. Stress and an increase in bugs is not a good combination
