Performing "Senor CS" during the 2007 North American Tour. John McLaughlin, guitar; Hadrien Feraud, bass; Gary Husband, keys, drums; Mark Mondesir, drums.
i saw the concert early july in Paris Enghein , was nice but not so exiting as when Hadrien is in the band ...missing some fun in the rythm section ...
“When I hear new music coming into my head, its mission is integrated into its notes. It basically tells me how it wants to be.” - John McLaughlin. From Page 1 of the book “Follow Your Heart - John McLaughlin song by song.”
Wow, the keyboard player is really close in nailing John's tone except in the higher register. John has always been a hero of mine. I saw the first Mahavishnu tour on Boston Common for $2.50 in 1972. The opening act was Loggins and Messina! The bass is so percussive. i miss that bridge playing like Jaco used to do. Awesome!!
Etienne Mbappe is the bass player i the current line up - May 2010 - and defies description! Check out his little black gloves - never seen a bass player wear gloves! But goodness me!!!!
I've come to like him better on a big 'ol jazz box (JM, that is,) but it's nice to hear him doing his electric thing again. A multi-faceted virtuoso! What kind of bass is that- a Ken Smith? Amazing range for 4 strings.
I know what you mean! It would be cool just to shake the guy's hand. I've seen him many times, and it's exciting that he still plays so great. Holdsworth too; in his early 60s is playing as furiously as ever!
once again, hadrien has blown me away with this, his speed and acuracy is just too good for his age, im gettin the classic burner 5 ken smith just like the one he has very soon hopfully. I cant wait.
Thanks; I don't think he's used the whammy much, since I see him every chance I get, and have never seen him with one before. Anyway, it's a beautiful performance as usual.
I'm green with envy; that's a great connection indeed! Can't wait to get that rhythm dvd; looks awesome, from the sample at abstractlogix. Say hi to John for me;)
Guitarist Carl Orr: "I thoroughly enjoyed reading “Follow Your Heart - John McLaughlin song by song.” The descriptions of the music are great, and I particularly enjoy those inspired moments when the author abandons literal description and describes the music in vivid, sometimes surreal imagery."
Two firsts for me: seeing JM playing what looks like a Strat, and using a whammy bar! Cool! Amazing bass playing as well; Hadrien is making a huge mark at a tender age!
saw The Man with this line-up in Liverpool about 3 months ago...excellent set. Just one thing Mr Husband, with all due respect, please stick to what you excel at.
saw these guys last year in albany ny, one of the most amazing expositions of instrumentation i've ever and probably will ever witness. hadrien and mclaughlin's styles compliment each other perfectly, i bet john wishes he was around ages ago!
@spider5604 Go to abstractlogix' website and search for an interview with John McLaughlin, 03.23.2010. Sorry :o(..They no longer make the Burner...However had has a new signature Ken Smith Burner...If its for sale I'm definitely getn one...
That would be cool; but I'd a thousand times rather play at the level of a master than play a master's instrument on my level!
I couldn't agree more. I hear Damian Erskine has something to say also, but he may be behind Feraud and Garrison.
HI , no that one is not a ZON , it's his Ken SMITH Burner he always use ...
Cheers
Jean Baptiste
yes , true , even Dipiazza is very good ..missing some fun and no risks taken ...
Anybody knows, what ride cymbal is Mark Mondesir using here?
I believe it was in Durham, NC at the Carolina Theatre......
Hadrien is superb.Truly amazing.

I definitely prefer this band , rather than with di piazza or m bape . Sparkling bass solo , huge precision and great intensity ...

@spider5604 Apparently he would not turn down the volume and at a concert for the Tibetan people it was the last straw.
I'm a Lancastrian but lets give it up for the 2 Yorkshiremen! Gary Husband's contribultion to this project is immense.
@Vladimir09Lenin Yeah, same guy. Was a genius back then and still a genius today!!
didn't have opportunity to see the tour. thank you for putting this video on abstract logix.
I wonder if Hadrien Feraud use that Crazy Fingers lube?
String friction is hell!

Ah-I see- it is a Ken Smith, but a 5-string with 24 frets. I want one!
Mclaughlin's music sounds like he's summoning spirits.
@r0berito r u serious? where did you get this information from?
Nice post; and you're named after my favorite website!
I definitely prefer this band , rather than with di piazza or m bape . Sparkling bass solo , huge precision and great intensity ...
Feruad probably getting more attention than John on stage, so Feruad had to leave the band.
anyone knows why John would not play with Had any more?
yes , younger , and more creative abs sensitive
Great mix of musicians
Fantastic! I think I was at this show....
Monster!
Thanks for posting this!
i read it was because hadrien was too loud and would not turn his amp down.
where did you read that?
Soulful
