The first time myears came in contact with this masterpiecewas ina train station in Tribeca, NY(downtown. two young guys were playing it. I moved closer to them the listen better. also a lady moved closer and started to dance it in a very particular way. I felt that moment wasjust magical! as an ignorant music person I didnt know the name of the composer of this melody. I knew it wouldbe unlikely not to listen this song again somewhere. until one day it came again and I fell in love. true story
I saw Trane play this at the Blue Coronet on Fulton Street in Brooklyn in 1961 it was probably one of the greatest jazz experiences of my life.I also saw on the seem night the M.J.Q down the block at the Baby Grand that made it an evening i will never forget To this day it is still in the top ten jazz pieces
My god, what an ineffably beautiful masterpiece. If my death should happen to come gradually and foreseeably, this is what I will listen to in my final hour, staring out a window into eternity. If there is a good way to die, that is surely it.
the version of this song should be a mandate for every 2 learn from pre-K to 12th grade. put this on your SAT/college entrance exams! TRANE RULES, R.I.P.!
again again again!!!! this song is not long enough! this is actual music to my ears! soo fucken good thank you "jazzhole" for uploading this ...great name btw hahahah
Hahah, this video has the 10% of the views of the 1st part. Indicates how much people really care about music. Congrats to the uploader for this masterpiece!
@JustCallMeDan Not all people have discovered this music just as we all may have never listened to some of the most amazing music ever made. We cant judge people for this although you are inclined to do this, this accounts for every style of music although I do believe that there is a big difference between really good music and bad music.
@stoyashot I agree, and of course we cant judge people. Just thought that it was worth noting that just the 10% managed to reach the 2nd part of this wonderful song :)
Shame it has to be a 2 parter to get around the rules here but 's no doubt this is one fine performance by one of the premier outfits in jazz history, it really has huge depth.
THIS is music ;)))))))))))
thnx for posting it

@marimokayo No, indeed there is not.
Not even Beethoven's 'Missa Solemnis' or Bach's 'The Art of the Fugue".
@JustCallMeDan Right? I'd be devastated if I had to go through life not hearing the last 5:21 of this masterpiece.
Dave Brubeck's "Time Out"
@JustCallMeDan Not anymore :). However I could understand you 10 month ago.
