I said Luka is terrible at basketball before this series started. He hits trick shots and trick passes but he absolutely sucks at every other aspect of basketball. You gotta at least be neutral everywhere else and he is the absolute worst at everything else

@@Stuzzyboabrother youre on the way to a sweep, its not like a healthy luka actually changes the end result. Just drags the series out a game or two. Even healthy, theyd attack him on defense the same way and hes a revolving door. He needs to fix that if he wants to win

The media flip up has begun. Superteam narrative, extra emphasis on the path, blaming refs?? Either way i’m glad i chose to enjoy this historic team and not get caught up on useless noise. All the more reason this podcast reigns supreme.

At the end of the day, the fact that the 2024 NBA Champions will be the Boston Celtics. No one, and i mean no one will ever take that away from the Boston Celtics. There will always be narratives, stories, and opinions throughout the playoffs and Finals. But once you achieve the ultimate goal of being the best in your sport, it will be in the record books for eternity. You will only see the team that won that season. No one really cares how they got there, who they played, who got injured, and etc. That is pretty much what will happen. It will be all about the stats and numbers. This season's Boston Celtics is historical. They were one of the best offenses in NBA history. Their defense was #2 this season with probably one of the best backcourt defensively of all -time. JT and JB are still in their prime and have a good 3-5 years window to be really special if they can win 1 or 2 more championships. News and media will always talk just to sell controversary. It all doesn't matter if u just win and win the chip multiple years. Banner 18 this year, and hopefully #19 next year.

John, that Tatum segment, about the narrative when all is said and done was astounding. It was a verbal masterpiece exploring the virtues of a humble and still growing superstar. The eloquence was moving, the discourse was a graceful elocution and it brought a tear to my eye…it wasn’t just the verbiage, it was the passion and belief that brought the emotions to me.

there's an argument for Celtics needing to sweep tomorrow: while it's true it's 159-0 on 0-3 comebacks, an outlier is bound to happen sometime. Also, the Celtics almost did it last season. They gotta do it tomorrow. Go Green!

John you have been right about Mazzulla all year no one else but you acutely talked about how good a coach he was. Wow I must admit I didn’t see that, but you did. On Jaylen topic the first time I saw him play in a regular season game I thought of a young Dominique Wilkins and I remember telling friends that I’m not saying he’s gonna be as good as Dominic Wilkins, but he has the potential physically and he just looks like the similar style offensive player. Now it’s amazing to write this, but with his championship level play and defense he is in the argument that he is as good as Dominique Wilkins was as a player. Especially when the win this championship and going into next season if he keeps this up. Absolutely incredible Jaylen I only dreamed you could be this good.

I love how Celtics haters were like what IF Luka doesn't foul out? 😂😂😂 that wasn't even the plan. The plan is was to tire Luka offensively by not doubling him and making him work for his points. On defense, if he didn't want to try then that's on him. When he does try he's not that good plus he'll use up his energy. Him fouling out was the cherry on top.

I can't believe how different the team looks compared to 2016-2018 but it has been such a fun and at times frustrating journey it makes it all worth it. What you say about the long-held perceptions of the Jays is accurate. The only moment the critics had some legitimacy was after 2021. In that moment, yes, there was some question if they were headed the right direction. Since then? A quite normal ascendancy. Last season's ECF distorts everyone's view on this. It WAS a hiccup. But only a hiccup. They're exactly where they should be. It only FEELS like it took forever because they've been here since they were (NBA) babies.

Following this team and particularly following the notion that Mazzulla knows exactly what he’s doing, I could care less about the media’s narrative. A champion is a champion is a champion.
Winning as a Celtic somewhat means more. I haven’t been a fan long enough to remember the details of the 08’ run but I understand the culture. I understand that banners are the only worthy accolade. I know that even the youngest Celtics fans know Larry Bird.
Which is why I say, I couldn’t give a flying fuck about the media. We win for ourselves. Easiest path to the finals, pfffff. Why don’t you make it harder for us then?!

It's never surprising when the pundits of American sports miss all the nuance that exists beyond who scores the most points or "Dan Marino" stat lines. Basically, if an NBA player doesn't consistently show up among the top 5 PPG stat line then we get players like Embiid who garner the most attention... a player that consistently gets injured and truly hasn't given his team much promise... same with Harden, Durrant, Westbrook and many more. I can't argue those players' regular season brilliance, who could?! But when it come to the +/- stat line and a player truly and consistently being a two way player, well, those things get forgotten. It's the same in football... if you don't have the QBR or best TD or yards per game stat, then you're washed up... how many times after 2001 or 2004 I heard Brady was washed up still boggles my mind. Again, pundits lack the ability to keep the concentration on nuance... and not ironically, that's the same amazing thing that allows the rest of the world to enjoy futbol/soccer... nuance!! Brady was the best manager of the game... that is, make no/few mistakes while on the field, let your defense and coaches get you back on the field... meanwhile, Brady learned the opposing defensive holes in their game plan, then he walks back out and wins the game. If we judged him solely on his season with Randy Moss and those stat lines, then we'd fail to see all the times his QBR sucked and yet he still dominated. Tatum is the best overall +/- for the last six season... last I saw a few weeks ago he was 100+ points ahead of any other player for the same time period. That stat line shows how effective a person can be and at the same time no, or very few, other stat lines support it. And, he's so young still. He still has a lot of learning to do... and yes, that's obvious in some holes in his game when they show up. The guy can play guard through center. And yet, because he's seemingly quiet on the court, then supposedly he lacks charisma to be the face of the league. I really wish everyone would start to see all the little things that add up to make a player 'truly' great.

Looking at season awards it’s a joke they ignore defense. Talking to JB. Go 🍀 🏀🍀

Orcas hunt in pods. They work together & defeat more dangerous predators.

Orcas are apex predators. There are no "more dangerous predators". I think Joe was referring to how they would take turns hurling themselves against ice floes until the seals slip and fall off before they pounce on them.

The Celtics biggest problem is Jason Tatum is shooting below 40% in the playoffs but below 20% in 4th quarter after 3 games with Mavs. In fact he shot below 20% in 4th quarter against the Warriors in the finals too. He cannot be our go-to at the end of a close games. Luckily Brown, Holiday and White are making key plays at the end of close games. He cannot be considered one of the best players in the NBA and his team can't trust him with the ball with 3 mins our less in a close game.
