In Drishti IAS Current News Bulletin, we bring to you a summary of news events that happened last week. In this episode we have covered important current affairs topics like; India, Iran sign 10-year contract for Chabahar port, No fresh mining leases, renewals in Aravallis, MTBVAC, New Biocontrol Agent to Manage ‘foot rot’, Sperm Whale, Oleander flowers, India as third largest producer of solar power in 2023, World Migration Report 2024 etc.
Recently, India and Iran have signed a 10-year contract to operate the Chabahar port. This long-term agreement was signed between Indian Ports Global Limited and the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran. This agreement will enable the operation of the Shahid-Beheshti Terminal. This agreement replaces the one-year contracts that were currently in place. The signing was being done to keep the port running. India has also emphasized on improving the infrastructure of Chabahar by offering a credit window of $250 million for mutually identified projects.
In other section, Recently a woman in Kerala died after accidentally chewing poisonous leaves of oleander. Due to which the use of oleander flowers in the offerings of Kerala temples has been banned.Oleander is locally known as Arali. At the same time it is also called Kaner Rosebe. Which is found in tropical, subtropical and temperate regions of the world.
