It took me three separate rewatches to realize that this song is actually Yui's final message to Shinji. It's beyond astounding how the full version of this song encapsulates the entire message of the show, something that lore videos take like 30 minutes to do. I also don't think there exists another song that so accurately and meaningfully portrays the special love of a mother for her child. As someone who lost their mother as they turned 20, nothing makes me feel closer to her than this passage. What makes this superior than the other English covers is there seems to be far less word, thus not taking attention away from the instrumental. Also the vocalist in this, isn't "forcing" themself to adjust to the flow (like singing faster), and their delivery is much more melodic, and doesn't seem like they're reading off a paper.
there is 1 time where it feels a little rushed to me, "and the moon" at 2:30 feels like it couldve done with one less syllable (everything else is pretty much perfect though)

You have a "Rise up, young boy, and make yourself a legend!" right after "you just stand there smiling vacantly," even though that's not in the actual lyrics, so that should be deleted. The other part is that it should be "Come now, Angel, you must embrace reality!" instead of "Come now, reach out, you must embrace reality!" Edit: I checked the wiki and discovered that the English lyrics they had for the TV-size version were _not_ these lyrics, but were almost identical in the chorus (the full-length English lyrics were just a direct translation of the Japanese), so I edited the page to use these lyrics instead.
I miss when this was uploaded years ago and showed clips from the series matching the lyrics, it got me into evangelion which then got me to watch anime in general, wish I could relive that feeling of listening to this song with the original video without youtube taking it down :(
Lyrically, I prefer this version of Eva over the original Japanese lyrics. Mostly because this has more of a bittersweet and melancholic tone to it's approach to lyricism compared to the original Japanese version which fits with the theme and the atmosphere of the show a lot more than the Japanese version(Which mostly stemmed from Yoko Takahashi not knowing what the themes for the show was at the time when writing this).
