Not often I give reviews but after watching your tutorial and following, my Xbox is back up and running! Having little electronic skills and NO soldering skills, your tutorial presented as a step-by-step guide and how-to every step of the way! everything easily understood. I had even looked into trading in the Xbox for a measly $18. at Gamestop but after seeing your tutorial I purchased a NEW disc drive for $35. and now its running like new! Thanks for the EXPERT help, I'll be back for any other issues and happy to pass your name on to anyone needing help!!
So actually using your video to take the disc drive apart I was able to clean up all the components in the disk drive and it plays every disk again :-) thank you
Honestly I dropped my x box one S because I was using wired controllers, I'm in Zimbabwe by the way(wired controllers are way cheaper), I followed the tutorial it is well explained and managed to remove the stuck Disc it has a circular scratch along the Disc ( titan fall 2) but now the consoles doesn't read any Disc, I only removed the power and the other slot from the motherboard I didn't remove the ribbons to access the disc
After following the video and getting everything put back together, it still isn't reading any discs that are inserted. It accepts the disc great, but just doesn't read them. Any thoughts on why this may be happening? Great video by the way!
If i replace my disc drive with a new disc drive from your website, will i have all the functions back as it used to be? Not only gaming but also dvd and blu-ray?
@@JoesgeHey Joe. I couldn't order a disc drive from your website because there weren't any in store. So i copied the specifications of the disc drive and ordered one via amazon. I changed the daughter board and installed the new disc drive in my console. With my first xbox start up, the disc drive rattled a lot, also with a second restart, it rattled. With a small heart, i inserted a game disk and it played fine and silently. After this game test, i ejected the game disc. Wich also went smoothly. After i turned off my console, it started itself up and searched for a disc, after a second time turning the console off, it restarted itself again. Then i went to my options and turned it off there, that also worked and it kept my xbox turned off. With the oprical drive. The log file will give an error message that the serial is wrong and the console wont work. Games wont boot. The motherboard and optical drive are paired. Swapping the daughter board keeps the serial number correct.
@Charles Clarke okay so I did the repair based on this video and swapped the daughter board, but the new drive was getting so hot that it scorched the inside of the drive housing. Any advice?
@@llamatorocco It has to be the same type of drive, if not it won't work. The optical drive is paired with the motherboard. It's a part of the copy protection. There are videos were they state during the repair that the xbox series s is a brick. It won't play games and the log shows an error with the serial number. So the copy protection makes sure that the drive is original from the factory. Some people replace the optical drive and motherboard because they are paired. You can just replace the drive and it will work but games won't boot. Now if you take the board from one optical drive to another then that board will need to work as well. Also it will need to be the same drive to work. If there is a fault on the board inside the optical drive then that not going to help matters.
Will switching the daughter board or switching the disc drive affect the memory of the Xbox one S. Because im having problems where its not reading games nor movies.
If you don't keep that daughterboard with its original console when changeling the disc drive, then it wont read discs at all. If you properly replaced your disc drive and it still isn't reading discs, Sometimes a cable isnt plugged in all the way, or something is loose.

I just installed a disc drive replacement, but for some reason, it won't read the discs. It'll sound like the laser is moving, but it won't load any game.
If you press it multiple times it will take the disc right back in. Even if you press it once, then apply any pressure to the disc it will think you are putting it back in. If neither of these are your problem, it could be a faulty switch on the disc drive, but if its not that big of an inconvenience then its not worth messing with.
Ah okay, thanks for the info! It's not really a big deal but it's a bit weird when that happens lol. I didn't know about that! I'm not gonna mess with it but i was wondering if it was faulty but i couldn't find much info about it online.
