I took the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 out for a day around my neighborhood in Brooklyn to test the Z Fold 3's battery life, do a camera comparison with it and other phones, and talk about all the features I like and don't like that I think are important to know when it comes to this new foldable device. Point to correct last years z fold had a 120hz screen when unfolded and was 60hz on the cover screen and this year both of them are 120hz

This phone 📱 is AMAZING. I held it in my hands in person yesterday at at&t. These videos don't do the phone ANY justice. Getting mine on Saturday finally.
I've had my Fold for almost 3 months and it's still amazing. I had the fold 1 almost 2 years and this one is so much better in every way.
Just got my fold 3 yesterday and holy hell what an amazing difference this makes as an all in one device!!!

@@Aaron-op3tj yes, it is. IPhone is solid but not versatile. This fold is the best one and never even considered buying one until the 3 and its solid and versatile
This is the best phone I've ever had, & I know some vids say the camera is a downgrade from s21 ultra camera which is what I had, but the z fold camera is just as clear so it's good for me & the overall experience with the phone is unmatched.
I totally agree, I love mine , only had it since Friday but its a beast
Loving my fold 3. Looks like the camera holds its own against the other cameras going by the sample pics. I'm getting about 15-16 Hours battery per charge and around 7h 45m to 8h 20m screen on time
Watching mainstream reviewers trash the camera without showing photos still made me hesitant to get the fold 3. After watching videos and seeing the fold hold its own changed my mind
@@psychomantis8007 yeah camera is great. I learned you can't take the majority of you tube reviews that serious. Most of them do an unboxing video and very little else and they offer a half done assessment

I have always been a Note user and decided to try out the Z Fold 3 since there is not a new note this year. I got my Fold 3 yesterday and I have to make myself put it down. The thought of having a phone and a tablet in one device in my pocket is awesome. I'm still a note fan but I really like the Fold 3 🔥🔥🔥
Great comment. 👍🏻 I’m SO sick & tired of Note users trashing foldables, with the Z Fold 3 being their current hard target, not just because it’s the latest & greatest Sammy foldable, but because it has S-pen support, _and_ because there is no Note phone for 2021 (as you mentioned).
Nice to see a Note user who’s chosen not to hate, but to participate and give the Fold 3 a chance. I’m sure you’re not the only one, but your comment is the first I’ve seen of its kind. While cost, weight, lack of an onboard S-pen silo, and relative fragility will continue to be issues, I do believe that Samsung’s plan is to replace the Note with the Fold.
On the flip side, I’m not a Note hater myself - Note 5 was my DD for nearly 3 full years - but I felt that the S-pen was too small & fragile. I feel the Folds add more value as their costs slowly come down, and that their 2-devices-in-1 versatility makes them the future of premium flagship phones.
@@sharkfintech5893 I love new tech. The note is a great phone (I still have my note 20 ultra)but I like innovation. The Z Fold is unlike any device I have ever used. I never thought I would say this but I'll be ok if they discontinue the note series.

I'm quite enjoying my fold 3. I was bracing myself for all the things i might dislike and the possibility of a return, but it really hasn't happened.
On a side note, while cameras are mostly the same, I believe the telephoto got OIS over the fold 2, the glass on the back gorilla glass DX this time around which should let 10% more light through, and the ISP chip was upgraded which should have slightly post processing. Mostly the same, but tweaked.
GJ explaining the difference in screen tech. This is the first gen of Samsung screens where they figured out how to get rid of the polarizer, so that should contribute to better battery life despite the smaller battery.
I had the N97 communicator back in college, and the hinge technology lasted me for more than 1 year without issues. It's 2021 and they've put so much r&d on this hinge for sure - so these Apple fanboys questioning and painting this phone as fragile is pure bull. I have a friend who has the Fold 2 and it's still looks perfect til now.

Excellent review. I have a Note 20 Ultra now. If the Fold 4 (or whatever they call it) upgrades their camera array next year to be the same level as the N20U or S21U, this might be my next pick.

I have had a Note series since they came out, and I use my SPen ALL THE TIME! Especially for work. I really hope they can figure out a way to integrate it better for those of use that don't know how to use a phone without an SPen.
Just literally bought mine on Friday, and bought the spigen thin fit p for it which holds the s pen , it's a beast of a phone, I've been using notes since the note 3 , and like you I literally use the spen for everything I do on a phone, I will never go back to a normal phone now
I have the z fold 2 and the refresh rate is 120 hz I'm definitely getting the fold 3

Thanks for this. Im a 2yr Note10+ user and had concerns over the camera looking at these shots you'd be hard pushed to complain against the current flagships unless you were an ultra smartphone camera geek. The fact the trade in deal in the UK makes this cheaper than my Note 10+ each month plus accessory pack is a big incentive to upgrade. I was going to hold out to the alleged resurgence of the Note next year.

I've used swipe gesture typing for years now, so to me, the narrower display looks perfect!
I do, too, actually and that definitely helps but I just want to be able to use the outside screen as a proper phone and can't. That's pitch, no? Phone that becomes a tablet? That's all. Again love it but that's just a pain point for me--might not be for you.
You were wrong in your segment about the 120hz displays with the fold 2 and fold 3. The fold 2 and fold 3 both have 120 hz screens on the inside display.
Yes, but the front display on the Z Fold 2 is capped at 60 hz refresh rate. David did mention that.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but on the inner display, I believe the Z Fold 2’s doesn’t have the adaptive 120 hz feature.

My Note 10+ is getting seriously nervous right now. If they can find a way to slot the spen inside, I wouldn't hesitate, plus the udc needs improving.

The z fold 2 inner display is 120 hrz and has that same adaptive setting. Honestly, the fold 2 displays for me is a good balance as on the front screen I do not really care about the 60 hrz. The display still looks great and vivid. I’ve always been a lover of a good front panel.
This video is awesome man. Very well done and informative. Aside from that,. music is smooth, local history & neighborhood plug-ins were interesting and the mini tour was awesome. I actually watched it all lol.
The skinnier screen on the outside should be better for swiping one handed though! Can't wait to receive my z fold on Tuesday

I ordered this phone because even though I have a giant Note screen I find myself always watching video in portrait instead of landscape so I end up only using a 4"x4" aka half the screen experience.
Phones as rectangles is just not right. I imagined a folding video capable phone nearly 20 years ago when everyone had the Motorola Razr flip phone. it's finally here.

I always enjoy your Volg reviews! Things have changed a lot since I visited there almost 30yrs ago. I'm curious how the Fold 3 and the flip feel in the pocket.

The biggest issue with getting a better camera is that it physically wouldn't fit the extremely thin frame of 6.4mm when opened (which is of course the only space you have). S21 Ultra, by comparison, is 8.9mm thick - a full 2.5mm (or, if you will, 39%!) thicker frame to fit a camera. A bigger sensor would need larger optics and there's just not enough space for it, unless you want an enormous camera bump.

Im strongly considering it, my main issues are actually camera (colour and low light moreso than the crispness of the photos), and the usefullness of the full screen. Im still a bit worried it will be a gimmick, i dont do gaming on my phone, but i do alot of reading, and figure a big screen would be nice for that.
Minor concerns of mine are the battery life, the weight, and if it remains watertight over time.
Ofc, i got the minute worry some stone or something will get in between the screens, or i will put weight on the hinge, and smush it but im not very concerned about those.
I forgot to mention, the lack of an aux plug is also annoying
@@Annoy51 watch Jerryrigeverything video, Fold 3 is pretty durable. And it is only a gimmick if you dont use it. Trust me, once you have this big unfolded screen, you can't stop using it.

I use the zfold2 everyday since it came out and I have no desire to use an S21 going from a note to an s series phone would be tragic the logical upgrade is a folding phone that's why I got the zfold2 I still my note 20 ultra as my side phone but the zfold2 is my daily driver .
