Time flies really fast. We are now watching the 2024 version of Lovesick, and it feels like I just watched the 2014 version yesterday. This series brings so many memories, and I really love how nostalgic it is.
I am feeling just the same. Is been 10 years already since the very first Thai BL Series aired. 😊 The new leads here are really great, but the new PANG was completely unable to fill her part properly. 😒 And I am not convince by the new EARN and the new PETE either, but we will see how they do in the next Episodes. It is really awesome having AUGUST Vachiravit starring in "Addicted Heroin" at the moment, 10 years after "Love Sick". Cheers...!

For example, in Episode 1 of LS2024, Noh puts the cream on Phun and acts concerned and with a bit of guilt, but in the orginal, he acts like he is about to throw up from touching Phun. Also, here in LS2024 the scene around @11:00 is played sensually with very little to no humor, while in the original this scene was played more for laughs with Noh even asking Phun if he had a small one and not to worry if he did. In the book Noh is conflicted and pretty much the entire novel is spent with Noh trying to not hurt anyone's feelings. He is caught up in a love triangle, at times a quadrangle, and he is trying to find a way to ensure no one else gets hurt even if it means him not being with Phun. Noh is really selfish and compassionate.

At that time a gay kiss on screen was unthinkable, and any body touch practically tabu, so the original Series did a great job showing different kinds of gay romance back then. In Thai culture any public display of affection is still consider tabu nowadays. It is a lot more free than it was back in 2014, so the original story showing high levels of shyness was the appropriate way to present that story. Also - legally speaking - there were no anti-discrimination laws in 2014. The "Gender Equality Act" came into law in September 2015, also thanks to "Love Sick The Series", which generated a large debate on social discrimination at the time. So ... it is not wise to criticize the original version using todays standards. This 10 anniversary version is able to be more daring, because the times have changed, and because there is a large amount on Thai BL productions over the years that have contributed to present gay romances in Thailand in a more realistic way. If you're the fans of the first version, you should be a married woman who has a family of your own and children to take care of and may also have to work to help support your family and you only have a little time to watch UA-cam and where do you find so much energy to bother about comparing this and that? Do you like it if people keep comparing you with your mother when she was young?

I really like this version because there are more phumnoh moments, they also removed the very bored second straight couple from the 2014 version, we can focus on the relationship of the Different bl couple
Finally they focus on the couple, I watched the 2014 version and I hated the scenes of the straight couple and the group of helpful girls, I just hope the real kiss scenes won't be Censored

The first Episode felt really strange for me to watch last Sunday ... because the original was the very first Boys Love TV Series that we had in Thailand, and I was gay teenager myself at the time. So... watching this "10 years anniversary remake" for me personally will not have an entertaining feeling, but a reflecting motivation to see all the changes we have experienced in the past 10 years. The essence of this story is not going to change at all, but I want to see if the script really manages to portray the new technological development in an intelligent way to equal the ones we had and used 10 years ago.
