@@Karmy. hey thanks! Used to be my winter daily, clutch went out though and rust isn't far from keeping it off the road permanently so I have other plans for it now - stay tuned :)
@@The_1982_EXPert ah dang yeah I daily an 02 with the C2 trim (though it's currently parked due to brake and suspension work that needs done and lack of money to do it) Cool cars and not very common these days so I get excited whenever I see one lol I'm kinda lucky though the rust on mine is limted to just one quarter and a spoiler mount, Michigan car
That’s unusual for a car that has a optional exterior color to have the matching interior trim color also be in the carpeting. Not unlike when you ordered a white interior trim for a Mustang convertible, what came off the hauler was had white seats and door and quarter trim panels. But the carpeting, instrument panel and center console was black unless some other color was specifically ordered such as red or blue often was.
@@scottbrown7415 yeah these were rather special when it came to colors inside & out. My Dad's 65 Mustang has black carpet and door panels with colored door inserts, dashboard top, and seats. Meanwhile his 74 Comet was tan & brown inside, same with my brother's 74 Monoco, and 76 Fury - all complimentary colors while the 82-83 EXPs doubled down on the color of choice. If you browse my channel you'll see every interior color but 83 grey, 82 white, and 83 tan - the 82 blue interior cars are very nice, they have matching carpet that combines for a very appealing interior without just being a solid sea of blue. What makes 82s extra special is their interior colors were never published on any Ford literature so a lot of these rare interior colors like orange and white no one ever thought existed unless you saw one in person! 83 was cool because for EXPs the dashboards became colored to match the interior like the 81-83 Escorts so the 1983 EXPs & LN7s really offer a lot of color.
They invented pop up headlights to "circumvent" headlight height rules in the US so they wouldn't look like this on wedge shaped cars. Those wheels look the same as the European Ford Escort RS Turbo also!
Right, I've seen the prototypes and some have pop-up headlights. What's interesting though is one of the rarest photos is a Mustang 2 prototype from 1974ish where it's wearing a front fascia identical to that of the 82-85 EXPs! The wheels on this guy are from an 86-90 Escort GT (the 8-spokes) and a Tempo (the poly-cast fan-blades)
Wonder why these didnt sell better? They were not bad cars . If you would put a 1.9 liter ford escort engine in it might make it much better? Always liked the small ford cars mavericks, escorts, focus . God speed with the restoration. You have a rare piece of history in this car. Saw a dodge rampage at car show in Iowa. Another cool old rare car.
@@halaheleu7013 ah man, the Rampages are sweet machines, I love the Shelby clones of those! I'm not too sure why sales were always only half of Ford's expectations, owner reviews at the time had 8-10 ratings on everything with the only complaint was ocassionally one on power. But just like you said today you can throw in a 1.9 for an instant 20hp improvement not touching anything else, 100hp in these 2200lb cars is just great and getting to/past that is extremely easy 🤷♂️ Thanks man! Keep an eye out for a video on a BUNCH of incoming Marti Reports 🙂
I loved these, until my then fiance had an affair with another guy in her EXP that i helped her get.....then, i couldn't stand to look at them, 40 years later, I don't care anymore, but just looking at one,i remember it all....
Aww man that's rough, I don't blame ya - I'd be pretty fed up with the whole world. Sorry for any bad memories, I hold nothing but good ones in mine thus why I've been collecting them so strong 🙂Thanks for sharing your story about them regardless, wishing you well!
My 82 exp would suddenly die when the distributor stator wires would break. It would also lose power when going under hi voltage power lines. All kinds of interesting issues, lol😂
I had a white one with a 4 speed, red interior and a sun roof. Fun little car
I had a blue one, 1983 or 84, 4 or 5 speed! My 2nd or 3rd car, not sure, it was a long time ago!
Never seen one of these in Orange!
3:31 nice Cougar in the background!

My best friend had one of these. It was called the Ford LN 7. Two seater. I think it was Mercury EXP and the ford sister car the Ford LN-7
@@paulym5814 yep, Mercury LN7 - nearly identical just a slightly different arrangement of front grille slots 👍
Another one! Pretty soon your gonna have to start sharing them. Lol.
Hey I do! I restore them for everybody, I'm just the curator haha
There's more though, wait and see 😀

turn a negative into a positive - get an EXP and enjoy every minute of freedom
