Sorry to hear the ferritin is still dropping, but thank you for sharing. You have helped me a lot - I hope this helps you. I’ve had anemia for 5 years requiring two iron infusions every 5 months or so. Ferritin drops each month just like you, usually get infusions when 9. Been keto low carb but In July went ketofore. At the same time started taking heme (ancestral supplements blood and liver supplements). Last blood test ferritin was 191-so high! I believe the heme supps have made a difference plus moving more to ketovore. Good luck and hang in there, you will get to the bottom of this!

I just got my iron infusion yesterday. I have to get my levels checked in 6 weeks. If I'm ok, I will just go on symptoms. I'm not going to get blood drawn all the time to see where I am, because I will just lose more iron with the constant blood tests. I get mine checked every 6 months. One time I got blood tests done and they took 9 vials of blood for different things and I thought this is just adding to my deficiency! The more blood loss, the lower the iron, (and ferritin) naturally.

I too have always had low iron and still do. My sibo got better but never 100% until after 4 years came across a video about how sulfur and how some people when they eat high sulfur foods, (garlic is insanely high in garlic) also foods like onions broccoli, etc… what happens the body can’t break down all the sulfites those foods create and a reason for why some people have sibo and other gut issues. I lowered those food temporarily and it really helped me along with taking the supplement molybdenum 20 before eating sulfur foods and taking regular epson salt baths because the sulfate in epson salt gets into the blood and body and it helps to lower sulfites. I found this info on a video by Elliott Overton. That, his oxalate video and his B1 videos really helped me get to 80% health. He also listed this Vimeo video on his website about what dr. Nigh says about sulfur and how it can be the hidden reason some people don’t get well with gut protocols (I did many of those and spent $1000’s trying to fix my gut and inflammation). Now I am doing a DNRS type Limbic training work I wish I had done years ago along with doing keto to lower my information and try to get the last 20% of my health issues. But I think retraining my Limbic system that I am now much healthier will let my body come out of fight or flight and move into homeostasis of rest and digest. Dr. Noel Nathan who practiced functional medicine for decades said this was often a critical step in people who get to 80% but can’t get further. Here is the Vimeo video: vimeo.com/158395304
Hope that helps. Wish I knew this info sooner that’s why I share it wherever I see it relevant. God bless!

How is your stomach acid? Low would be a common cause of both issues. Mine was low after eating anything. It was a timing issue and caused me to have both of the same issues. I was able to bring it up with ACV and betaine hydrochloride before every meal. It took about a month to see any results on a test but, i felt it right away!

I am suffering so bad with symptoms of anemia. I went back to eating keto in December and ironically my values tanked. I've been anemic on and off over my adult life with years in between and no real explanation as to why. My Ferritin is at 35 which fell from 67 in just two months. For the life of me I can not figure out why not one of the specialists I see have even brought this up with me. Likely because it's considered within normal limits, but my body is not saying that. I've lost half of the hair on my head in addition to my body, I can barely think or stay awake during the day, developed restless leg syndrome ( crawling muscles ) dyspnea etc. I had an appointment with an ND today and feel very hopeful about getting this under control at some point. She is the only person who is concerned about my lab values at all. Transferrin Saturation is 25%. I have all the symptoms of SIBO and have for some time. I avoid FODMOPS for the most part but I've got the breath test here on my desk. I feel confident to approach treatment options with this ND. I also have severe IBS. Been battling gut issues for years. Falling off the nutrition wagon for 5 yrs didn't do me any favors but I'm ready to attack this crap once and for all. Thank you for such valuable content. I'm super glad I found your little corner of youtube today!

I have been with you since the beginning. My ferritin and iron were both at a 9. I have malabsorption from multiple gut surgeries. I had my two iron infusions and also bought the 3 Arrows Heme iron and downloaded the repair manual. I was obedient with the dosage etc. My numbers post infusions were beautiful and I continued to supplement. My number dove like yours and when my ferritin was 50 in just a couple months I knew I wasn’t absorbing the iron. I also do the magic yogurts and culture several strains. I bought the Ancestral Supplement Blood supplement and took 6 with my B-right by Jarrow every day for 4 weeks and tested again. I was shocked to see my ferritin went from 50 to 120 in 4 weeks! So apparently I can absorb a whole food blood supplement! This has been an issue my entire life even as a child. I will continue with 6 per day unless my labs show I need to cut the dose and boy will that be a miracle. I am sold on the blood capsules. Even better than liver alone.

Thanks for the update. I have a similar issue with iron, but no sibo symptoms. I'll be interested to see when you get to the bottom of this. A while back, you mentioned low alkaline phospotase. Did you ever find out more? I have that too.

I know a great deal about iron, ferritin, SIBO, etc. I can give you some great insights if you tell me how to communicate with you. I will leave you with one thought, in a previous youtube about your SIBO I mentioned low stomach acid.. Well, low stomach acid is also a contributor to low iron.

Sorry that your ferritin level dropped so rapidly. I had low ferritin also years ago (My lowest rate was at 8, and I was sooo tired). I also had SIBO (Not completely cured, but much better). I'm not sure that SIBO is the only cause of low iron. I don't have this iron issue anymore, and I'm not sure why. I think because I started to take vitamin B12 which was also very low. Have you tried copper? It gives me so much energy, it's incredible! My copper rate was in the range, but I decided to try it anyway. And I feel so much better! Iron and copper are linked. Perhaps you can do some research, if not already. I wish you you get better soon.

I am wondering if you have looked into low stomach acid as being a factor in your iron deficiency? You may have already researched this but as someone with life long IBS-D and iron deficiency it’s something I’m researching and going to experiment with with supplements to try to see if the HCl may be one of my missing links.

I'm suffering with Anemia but the underlying issue is with my kidneys which it took the doctors a while to figure out. Hopefully that isn't the case for you but a simple check would be to see if your urine has a foamy top when finished, like the top of a glass of beer. All the best 🤞
