Okay, I was curious when I saw this video's thumbnail. I'm glad I watched it. I was rooting for the big gold colored robot because it showed a wide variety of techniques. I think it had a few misfortunes that cost it in the end. I hope these teams are well funded and keep modifying and improving their designs and that the competition continues for years to come.
That orange one was just amazing! The way it moves, attacks and even stand up, a great piece of engineering! The only drawback was its operator, he sucked!

battlebots is still on tv today and they've only gotten better and better. FRC is a high school competition where instead of combat robots, robots complete objectives such as climbing and shooting balls or lifting cubes if you're interested

Man I was rooting for that orange one. It knocked the same bot over like 10 times lol and that crazy love towards the end was cool. Laughed my ass off at the bot that just fell over right at the start and at the end when that one finally gets lined up and charges in just to get sat down immediately XD

Do app the robots use brushed toy DC servos? I would at least get my self the brushless motors out of various disc drives. Then using hall sensors for position sensing. I will admit it looks like the challenge is all about creating good preprogrammed stances and controlling the robot on the day. But I still think hardware goes a longer way than people realize
Wow, @4:20(nice timing lol) the orange robot did a rising dragon punch from street fighter! Even does the spin, and jumps off one leg! That was incredible. It even looked great while doing it.. Hahaha. Made the whole 6 mins worth it. I thought it could only do that sideways shuffle uppercut move.
Took me a while to figure out what the pink little rectangular thing that falls off a bot is and where it came from. It's from the back of the white and black robot in the center of the screen that is closest to the screen at 0:34 and it falls off a couple seconds later.
I have to admit that's the best 6 minutes I've seen on YT in a long time!
