It's an accident of when we were born that determines our culture - or does it? Not for me it didn't - I discovered jazz as a teenager, a good 40 years after it was "fashionable". I just liked the sound of the music - that could have been the same for ANY child at ANY point in history.

So, either you too follow suit, remove your tv licence - if you’re Uk, you simply advise the bbc (British pedo corp) you no longer wish to watch bbc content not will you use the iplayer. Don’t do so and they come knocking .. other than that so long as you use a paid subscription service eg Netflix or similar you choose what you watch when you watch. Our parents feed us from baby to near adulthood.. the tv does similar. You choose what you want when you want. Leave the simple tv to the simple minds.

30 years ago and look how diverse the cast is. It wasn't shoved in our faces back then, we just enjoyed TV without even noticing what colour, gender, or sexual preference people had. Great times

I came here because Falcon has died she was born in my hometown and I had the privilege of meeting her once when I was about Eight years old, she was so polite, Gladiators was one of the best shows growing up it was on every Saturday around five o clock in the evening. It ran for seven years, RIP Falcon Aka (Bernadette Hunt)
So much better than the modern recreation. The arena is bigger, there are more people, it feels more live and less edited together than the new one. To be honest, it feels like most TV today is cheap, whereas they used to splash out in the 90s
The 90s and early 2000s really were the best time. Techology was really starting to come into it's own, but it's wasn't too intrusive or overbearing. People had to have personalities as they couldn't create one on social media.
Very nice to watch series 3 again. 1994 and 1995 season of gladiators was my Favourite. I live in Australia now so I haven't seen some of these since I was a kid ;) I hope you upload some of the other episodes of this season c
The SKY version took itself waaaaaaaay too seriously, there was no sense of fun (or sportsmanship from the gladiators, whereas the 90s glads were always very gracious to the contenders). The revival basically played like it was made by a bunch of TV execs (or Apprentice contestants!), who had never actually grown up with the show, sitting around a table umming and ahhing over what the focus groups thought would work...
You know what was good about 90s shows like this? The shows were presented in a serious manner, with tiny bits of humour sprinkled in. This gave the shows competitive intensity, like what the contestants were playing for really mattered, and the presenters stuck to the job of presenting, rather than trying to be comedians. For some reason, this 'serious' manner of presentation disappeared in the 2000s and was replaced with TV presenters who are always trying to say funny things or excessive use of sarcasm, and acting like the whole thing is a big joke. That, in my opinion is why all these gameshow reboots fail, because they fail to recreate the natural human element of competitiveness, and have instead replaced it with excessive humour that is better suited to jokey type topical news quizes like 8 out of 10 cats, or Mock the Week etc. I think the producers of these modern gameshows think that 'entertainment' soley means "make them laugh", whereas actually, entertainment can be a whole range of things.
I remember when the 1994 series was repeated in 1995, there was a voice over during the closing credits saying "That was a repeat of 1994 and Shadow is no longer a gladiator." Due to Shadow being fired from the show for drug abuse.
I always remember the sheer size of the crowds here. The revamped series didn’t come close and I think the small crowds was one reason It didn’t recapture the success. I guess today people have so many options with their time.

Yes and no. These days so many women are pumped crossfitters and seem to go to the gym. However this was back in the day when the gym was generally attatched to the local swimming pool cum sports centre of which there may only be one per small town, there was not a 24hr cheapo pure gym in every high street so people had to be more motivated and dedicated to go. Also who remembers the high streets pre costas, greggs subways and stupid overpriced yankee ice cream shops. Awoooogaaaaa.
Those uniforms worn by the contenders here only lasted for the Heats. By the quarterfinals, the girls were back in their normal pink and yellow uniforms, while the boys' shorts were the same colour as their respective shirts.

It’s sad that “Shadow” was recently jailed-no pun intended but he looked like a shadow of his former self in his mug shot. Apparently he was axed from Gladiators in 95 due to drugs and became a heroin and crack addict 🙁

It’s sad that “Shadow” was recently jailed-no pun intended but he looked like a shadow of his former self in his mug shot. Apparently he was axed from Gladiators in 95 due to drugs and became a heroin and crack addict 🙁
