    Thanks Gary.....is the re-set valve step critical? Should AC power be activated for the unit when this step is taken? Is separate 9volt battery critical as well? Thanks for all you do!

    • @water_estore

      No, the reset isn't critical, usually done when nothing else seems to work. Yes, it needs to be plugged in to power. The battery is a CR2032 not 9 volt. I hope that helps.

      Will the head go to regen if capacity is reached during the day when thwe regen time is set for 2AM.....or should the head wait until 2AM to regen even if earlier that day capacity has been meet? Really appreciated. Also I turn main water supply to off position for the home when I go away ...and unplug the head. What would be the proper re-start regimen once I am back? Hope holidays treated you and your family well! David

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  29 днів тому

      If the valve is programmed to regenerate when the capacity goes to zero, yes it will. I also turn off my water when away, but do not unplug. Since the water is off, it thinks it regenerates, bust since there is no water, nothing will happen. When you return, urn water on, plug unit back in, set current time, manually set regeneration to today by pushing the regen button.

    Hi Gary, great video! One QQ: I have my water softener set at 2am and it has 1360GAL remaining capacity when fully regenerated. "Maximum days of regen" setting is set at 14days. I usually run to capacity of 0 in 7 days. What confuses me is: when the capacity turns 0 does it regenerate the following night at 2am or does it wait for 14th day at 2am?. I am new home owner and just trying to figure out what suits us with 2 people in it. Your info is precise and i watched your regen video too but it did not say anything about this. Thanks.

    So I’m comment in hopes of figuring this out as we bought a house with a water softener in place. Maybe 5-6 years old. It has the words “call” flashing 24/7. I’ve googled all over the place and can’t even find this info in the internet. How can I erase this “call” from flashing all the time. The previous owner said the installers program this so you call them back to the house. Thank you

      Awesome. Thank you. I just did. One other question I had and I see this is discussed vaguely in some videos of yours and others about the salt level. By the time we got around to adding more salt I was maybe 1/5 at the bottom. Maybe less. I added a 40lb bag which obviously covers the salt and the water inside. But it only raised the salt to maybe 1/4. The next month I added two 40lb and I’m closer to 1/3 now but I can’t see the water level anymore like I did when it was at 1/5th. Do I need to add water as well or does the machine know how much salt is in the container? There is a conveniently placed water spigot right at the unit so I didn’t know if that was used to ever add water.

    I wish you would go into these settings a bit more or do a live stream on it. I have 2 tanks 10x52 with 2 5 button clacks. One is a filter, the other a softener. 3 people live in the house. My water measured 50ppm for hardness and no iron but the water smells.What should the settings be? and if it's set to auto like it is in this video, why is there a 14 day override set when it should be going off of the usage meter?

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  4 роки тому +3

      Great questions! The only settings you would change are the hardness and clock. The other settings are set at the factory to suit your system best. I don't change them and I recommend you don't change them either. A metered water softener like these will regenerate when it's capacity has been used up, but you still need the 14 day over ride because if you don't use up it's capacity in 14 days it still needs to regenerate then.

    Hi thank you for the information. I have a similar, or possible the same it appears, softening system. My water hardness is 72gpg. Yes, 72 GPG. And our TDS is 790ppm. We have extremely hard water. We have a softening system and then an RO for drinking. The RO has a TDS of 130ppm, which I assume is mainly salt from the softening.
    After passing softening, our water hardness drops to 0-1gpg. Which is great. But I’m a little confused because our “hardness setting” on the system is only set to 20 (not 72). So how can it be set so much lower yet properly softening the water?
    Also, I’m even wondering if the system is leaving TOO MUCH salt in the water as we have terrible salt residue left over and our skin feels so dry after a shower or even just rinsing our hands! Any help would be MUCH appreciated! Thank you in advance.

      I suspect what is happening here is that right after it regenerates your hardness is 0-1 gpg but after a couple of days your media beads will no longer be able to soften your water and the hardness will climb back up before the water softener regenerates again. So you are getting hard water passing through your softener between every regeneration. The hardness setting tells the water softener how much capacity before you need to regenerate again. I would set that water softener to 72 and I'll bet that "salt residue" (is actually hardness) will go away.

      Gary the Water Guy thanks so much for the reply! What you say makes sense, however, this dry feeling on the skin and residue is happening when the water reads 0 hardness... as I’m testing the water my hands become very dry and the 0 hardness water is leaving a white residue on surfaces that same day.
      Is there any other possible reason for this happening? Could it be our hardness is so severe that the amount of salt added is so high that it’s leaving this residue and drying our skin?
      Thank you again!!

      Sean Harris yes, your hardness is so high that it takes a considerable amount of sodium to regenerate. Likely your tds after the softener is close to 900ppm. The residue is what is left after the h2o is gone.

    Love your videos, very explanatory. I have a 48,000 with the same control valve, vortech resin tank, just refilled with 1.5 cuft of 10% Liquagen resin. Water hardness 356ppm/ about 21gpg. What settings do you recommend? Thank you

      Glad to hear you like the videos, please share with your friends and family. Assuming you have no iron or manganese in your water I would set the hardness at 23, salt at 15 lbs and the size or capacity at 38,000.

      What do you mean by “have a 48,000”. It sounds like you have the same setup as me and I just rebuilt mine with same liquagen resin. Trying to figure out correct settings

      @@SATXDONKEY sorry, my mistake it's a 54,000. It's the capacity of one's resin tank. Mine holds 1.5 cuft of resin.

    Why is my Backwash Cycle so short at less than 1 minute? The other settings seem to be correct except that my Refill seems a bit short at 3 minutes?

      Almost all of them. Typically you just adjust the hardness and set the current time and you’re done!

      @@water_estore Thanks. I pulled the water meter out and evidently was stuck. I recently replaced the resin. Might have gunked it up in process. But it’s working now. Tested with magnet and air it registers.

    The video is really good, but the controller is from pre-historic era. these should all be discarded immediately, what a shame

      Actually no, the controller is still the easiest to service and most reliable on the market today.
