I’m about to do my drivers side next, I’m currently doing the “free fix” for the rear dvd players not working, love the truck tho and the 6.2 with the 8 speed is fun

Both repairs do work and cost virtually nothing to do, thanks gm for standing behind your product, the tail light should never have a failed brake light, it’s a safety concern and gm wont do much about it..

How has it held up? Looking at doing it on my car. This is the third time my tail lights have went out

It held up pretty well actually. Those are usually the two main points where the thin metal is under stress or constant pressure. You just have to make sure to seal them back up. The other side went out as well eventually, and so while I could have spent the time and fixed it, I ended up picking up some Cadillac style lights on Amazon. Two taillights for just over half the price of an OEM one. The look great and I've have zero issues with them.

How do you know where to cut the plastic to find the problem?

Sorry I missed this. Sometimes, you can leave the lights connected and press down around those two areas and the metal will touch and the light will function. But those two points are almost always the problem. There are some images online that show the spots, but it's more the general area so it's typically in the area of the small chunk you take.

Hey there. What did you use to solder it together. I’m having trouble getting the acid free or alley solder to stick to the aluminum-like board.

Sorry for the delay, I used some regular rosin core solder, then cleaned it up with some isopropyl. It took a bit of heat to get it to flow.

My drivers side just went out on my Denali and has the two little lights too. I chocked On my Tito’s when I called for the quote. Guess I’m going to be ripping apart my car and learning to solder tomorrow. Never messed with anything electrical other than pushing fuses back in that pop out all the time. This car has been such a drama queen. My tv recently stopped working and they say I have to replace the whole thing. My touch screen is glitching. Wireless phone charger isn’t working. Half the USB ports aren’t working. Lurches forward when I’m braking occasionally. I’m about to be on my third set of brakes. That’s just what I can think of off the top of my head. About time to start looking at the new Navigators instead of the Escalade I was wanting. GMC can eat a bag of dicks for charging that much for a car that everything breaks on, and when it does, it’s always damn near a mortgage payment by the time you leave the shop.

They ended up breaking...again, so I replaced them with some Escalade style LEDs. They look nice and I haven't had any issues with them.

You can now buy a new tail light from the dealer for $213.00 brand new. Core charge of $50 if you don’t give them the old one. Price has dropped dramatically since the new Yukon’s have come out. Sad people are still selling refurbished ones for 450

I haven't price checked in quite some time. The other side eventually went too, so instead of going back and forth, I got a set of Cadillac style aftermarket taillights for less than the price of one OEM, and they have been great.
