I remember when I used to watch this video when I was young. Even today when my mom makes a sharp turn in the car she'll say "Hang on to your feathers, Little Bird!"
Omg I had this on VHS as a kid!!! It was 3 different cartoons, one of which was a western & one other. I distinctly remembered the line 'Hang on to your feathers little bird!' I must've watched this tape a million times!
I remembered this when I was a child. I even remembered at 3:17 when it had Spongebob music. Primarily because anyone's heard this stock music back in the 90s.
I used to watch these as a kid. In fact, I still have the VHS videos but I am afraid to watch them since they are over 20 years old so I worry about ruining them. So thank you very much for posting this on UA-cam! :D
You are awesome not ONLY for uploading this great learning experience of my childhood, but also for including the music themes!!! Tomfoolery is a very popular theme in Nickelodeon shoes like Spongebob. XD

I owned this on a Beta video when it was first released in the early 1980s. I was a huge Sesame Street nerd when I was a kid, I remember going to see "Follow That Bird" when it was released at the movies in 1985. I was talking to my younger (by quite a few years, he was born in 1987) cousin the other day, he told me that he had never even heard of Beta (otherwise known as Betamax) before. I told him that it was a video format that competed against VHS in the 1980s. My family did not get a VHS player until the 1990s (after Beta had long lost the video format war).
I bet if Big Bird had told Susan that a tornado hit SS she would've said "Where do you think we are, Kansas?" or "This is real life, not the Wizard of Oz!"

I Enjoyed Reading "Everyone Makes Mistakes" as a Child, and This Was a Pretty Good Video Adaptation. Also, If You Notice in The Runaway Giraffe Scene, You'll Hear Music Which Today is Commonly Heard in Episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants.
I think I got the cast down Carroll Spinney - Big Bird and the Zookeeper Fran Brill - Little Bird/Rodeo Rosie/Mrs. Washington E.G. Daily - One of the kids (I think) Brian Cummings - Ringmaster (I guess)
In the "poop" version, using the opening of "Treasure of the Endzones," the sixth Ovide episode (a woman on TV is carried away by a strong wind), with the tornado scene in this Sesame Street story, would have made sense to me. That episode can be found in Dutch here on UA-cam, and I think it's called "De Schat Van De Aspeken" in that language.
My god, this brings back memories! I used to watch this quite a bit when I was little. I recently read the original book & was surprised to not find Little Bird in there. Also, when I heard the music from the giraffe scene on Spongebob, I immediately thought of this video. What WAS that music? Is it the same stock music that was used for other stuff, like Ren & Stimpy?
I agree. A tornado ain't a very good concept for a video aimed at pre-schoolers. Makes it look a bit too much like "The Wizard Of Oz" and/or "Twister."
Brian Draney Speaking of "The Wizard of Oz," this was exactly the reason I added sound clips from that movie to this video's tornado scene in my UA-cam Poop of this (most notably "It's a twister! It's a twister!")
Yeah. I didn’t think a tornado could hit Sesame Street. I mean it’s somewhere near New York City. However, I do remember seeing the episode about a hurricane hitting Sesame Street. And wow! It really destroyed everything and wrecked up part of the neighborhood. Including Big Bird’s nest.
I have them myself, on "Ovide and the Gang Volume 4: Tooned Into Trouble," but I do not have the equipment required to put them on UA-cam (I wish I did though!) Ryoku75 once posted one, but it has been removed.
Whenever I saw Big Bird feel so sad I felt so sorry for him, I felt sad with him, when I heard his name in the debate I felt like I saved him by voting for Obama, I tweeted him that I would've let him join my secret society Task Force ACME in response to the debate, he replied "How can I join?" he tweeted that I'm his biggest fan :)
If I were to do a UA-cam Poop version of this story, I'd use at 4:18-4:36 the section in episode 33 of Ovide where Bobo gets trapped in a huge forest fire because Cy had been careless with the matches while trying to cook with no one else around. Also at 4:00-4:05, I'd have Kaneda from Akira say, "This whole thing happened just because you took my bike for a spin! Enough already!"
Yup, it was most likely him. BTW, today's his birthday! I also think in "The Great Cookie Thief," Frank Oz also voiced the Orange Gold Guy Smiley-like cowboy, and I know Fran Brill also narrated in "Big Bird Brings Spring to Sesame Street."
I remember when I used to watch this video when I was young. Even today when my mom makes a sharp turn in the car she'll say "Hang on to your feathers, Little Bird!"
I can see why. Caroll Spinney sure made Big Bird sound cute saying “Hang onto your feathers, Little Bird!”
Omg I had this on VHS as a kid!!! It was 3 different cartoons, one of which was a western & one other. I distinctly remembered the line 'Hang on to your feathers little bird!' I must've watched this tape a million times!
