Woo is a 1998 romantic-comedy film directed by Daisy V.S. Mayer and starring Jada Pinkett Smith in the title role. Tommy Davidson also co-stars.
Darlene "Woo" Barnes (Smith), an extroverted woman living in New York City, is notoriously talented at turning men into mush. When Woo's psychic friend Celestrial (Girlina) predicts that the man of her dreams is about to enter her life, Woo doesn't believe it is true. Celestrial is convinced that Woo is destined to meet a tall, debonair Virgo. Woo's cousin Claudette (Paula Jai Parker) and Claudette's boyfriend Lenny (Dave Chappelle) plan to spend the night together but find themselves entertaining Woo instead. Lenny begs his best friend Tim Jackson (Davidson) to take Woo out, but the shy, strait-laced law clerk Tim contrasts the sassy and brassy Woo.

I saw this movie in theaters with my brothers. I thought it was okay in my opinion. Tommy Davidson said that Will Smith threatened him during the filming of this movie. Fun Fact: Romaine who was played by Michael Ralph is the brother of Sheryl Lee Ralph. Can we please get reviews on the following movies that Jada Pinkett Smith & Tommy Davidson has been in & movies that were released in 1998:

It tripped me out when my brother told me about Tommy after seeing him in Vegas. He said Tommy is far from the character he often plays. Nowhere near corny, said he had a crew of bad bitches with him, moving like "Dat Nigga". Woulda never guessed it

A good one to check out is The Glass Sheild. Not a black movie per your discrimination but one definitely worth a look. I think it was Ice Cubes 2nd movie.

The soundtrack had some fire on it. We would not have had Adina Howard’s “T-Shirt & Panties” if it wasn’t for that soundtrack.
We had this movie on vhs as a kid I watched this at least 15 times 😂 but I realized a lot of people didn’t know what woo was 😂 and the soundtrack is good! Like most black movies from the 90s!

I used to watch this movie over & over when I was a kid.... and ended up being a tarot card reading, astrology, super social, man teasing "crazy" btch just like her 😆 life is just more fun on the edge 🤷🏾♀️💛🥰. Love me some "Woo"

Woo was off the chain. The fellas were hilarious the awkwardness of hop at the club barking. Hop asking if Celestial was wearing a trash bag.

Back in the day, there was a video store called VIDEO CHARLES, near the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Mall. When they moved deeper in the hood, they changed their name to BLACKBUSTER. I rented THE SPOOK WHO SAT BY THE DOOR there. Try reviewing THAT movie!

Like woo just not sure it’s a classic to the standard of the other movies you guys reviewed so far
The bootleg was funnier than the theatrical release. There were jokes that seemed incomplete in the theater because it was set up in the other version. The bootleg with Isaac Hayes and Pam Grier made more sense.
Yes originally I think woo parents was supposed too appear in the Final Cut of the movie but they cut her parents out the movie would have made more sense if the parents appeared

This movie is trash with mad celebrities . Woo had no redeeming qualities besides being beautiful . I hate the 90’s troupe of the smart educated man being lame or a buster in your terms . This was movie i saw the preview of and was like im good lol .i watched it because i love the podcast and wanted to catch on the movie i didnt see so i can watch the rest of the pod cast .
