I've owned my 987.2 for three years now but I still enjoy watching someone else giving his impressions, basically confirming each time what a brilliant car it is! Great video thanks for sharing
Mine is a 2011 macadamia brown with manual gearbox and with same interior as yours, only 45k kms on the counter. I paid 31k euro’s, here in Belgium. The sound is amazing as you say, steering is phenomenal. I definitely don’t need more power than the car has standard, which is 256 bbp. And yes, I bought this also because it is affordable. I am really happy with this car. Gr. Marc
That is a gorgeous colour! Here in the UK people mostly spec boring colours. I ended up with a white one which I love, but would jump hoops to have one in macademia brown. Are you in Brussels? We should meet up sometime and take some pictures of our cars when I next drive over (2009 987.2 Boxster S Manual in Carrara white)
@@mamigagi Well Stefan, more than the colour I’d say it’s the ‘S’ that should make a difference😎 although I mentioned in my previous mail that the 256 hp of the basemodel should be enough to have a lot of fun. Do I come to Brussels? Not that often although my daughter lives in Brussels. I’d be prepared to meet somewhere halfway and drink or maybe eat something together, discussing about our cars, having some fun spending some time together enjoying life,… Why not?😉
@@michaelferguson387 No, no issues although I sold it to buy a BMW M4, convertible. The M4 is more suitable as a daily driver there where the Boxster is a real sportscar.
I have a manual 2.9 which I've owned for over 4 years now. I've put 40,000 miles on it in that time. Absolutely amazing car and I have no plans to ever sell it. I agree with everything you say about yours. The handling is so precise, steering has plenty of feel, suspension is firm but weirdly still comfortable. It feels glued to the road. The manual gearbox is very smooth and revs out brilliantly in 2nd. The engine sound is unlike anything else and with a sportier exhaust really emphasises it.The car as you say has a very mechanical feel to it, very machine like. It's very well put together and feels really solid and tight. I also love the way the front of the car bobs due to the lack of engine weight in the front. Unfortunately parts can be a bit pricey. Had to have a new clutch and flywheel fitted last year. The flywheel alone was £1100! Other than that though it is very reliable and fairly economical for what it is. It's probably rhe most practical 2 seat convertible you can buy having a frunk and trunk. Having had a 350Z and two Z4s the boxster is much better at the weekly shop. If you're reading this and thinking about buying one..........do it! They're fantastic cars.
Great review! Just got a 2009 987.2 Boxster myself in Midnight Blue/Tan. Drove it 1500 miles back to LA from Texas and am absolutely loving it. My first sportscar & Porsche too. Such a great daily for SoCal. Driving the coast and the canyons is especially fun. Enjoy your Boxster!
Nice Boxster! i traded mine for a 718 cayman 2.0. The 718 is quicker and feels way more modern, but I stil mis the sound of my old 987.2 2.9 engine and the soft top also. have fun with you Boxster
RJ, I got the 2006 boxster s, next the cayman, except I'm keeping the boxster!! Thanks for sharing this, just confirmed that you wanna have both?!!! Can't deny the convertible, especially in Hawaii!, ALOHA.
I have the 987.2 Boxster S from 2011 indian red with the same interior color , i adore it! Boxster is a little Wonderful car ,fun to drive, slowly or faster, not too expensive and it's a kind of Art of Life !😀
Excellent choice! I'm pondering the same.. and I'm looking forward to your follow-up review of this 2.9L (?) Boxster 987.2 Boxster, esp how you're getting on with the PDK.
I’ve had my 3.4L ‘12 Boxster S for about 7 months now and i’m considering making a youtube channel of my drives in it. There truly isn’t alot of content out there on this gen and it’s the exact one that’s going up in value right now.
for most people this is a great car. Most people don't track their cars and just love to drive it around with great build quality and is super sporty. It's a great price and the perfect weekend card imho.
Nice car, I have a 2011 987.2. You should put top in service and check both arms connecting to the plastic ball joint. I think it’s t40. The bolts get loose overtime and plastic ball joint breaks. When this happens u will hear a crunch sound when opening roof. Enjoy the car!
Highly recommend the sport mode upgrade,...Porsche dealer can add = ~$500,...adds Sport and Sport Plus modes that increase shift points for added driving fun with the PDK. Base model also benefits from not having Direct Injection = reduced carbon buildup on intake ports.
You need the Porsche Sport exhaust, trust me on that. Was the best upgrade for my 987.2. Sounds completely insane and makes driving it a whole new experience...
"I want the full experience that's why I picked the".... PDK??? I love your car but that statement makes no sense to me. To each his own I guess, enjoy your car, it is truly a masterpiece of engineering.
Yeah, 987.2 and 997.2 were the first models that debuted with the PDK transmission. PDK was hyped up so much at the time that most buyers optioned this transmission, even buyers that would have otherwise gotten the manual trans.
You're in college (you mentioned being "in school" when you showed the back trunk) and you bought a $30K Boxster? Must be nice to come from a wealthy family. When I was in college I was driving a Toyota Corolla.

Beautiful car! I just picked up a Carrara white 981, I can't wait to drive a 987 and feel the difference in steering.
Congrats! You should, 987 is so much better in my opinion, but 981 looks a lot better than the 987

I agree. I really want one installed, but they're a bit expensive unfortunately so I gotta figure out a way to make that money lol

Great chassis, but it's very unfortunate that the manual transmission versions are so hard to find.

not to be a screwball, but you should push down on the emblen on the frunk to close it. yes i do own this car.
Kevin I was watching your video and it tripped me out, you literally are driving the same road i do after work! Do you live in the area?
That's funny, yeah I live in Mira Mesa lol

Its not really that hard to do maintenence on Caymans. Not harder than most other german luxury/sport cars, at least.
