- Learn how to add custom notification sounds on iPhone.
Adding custom notification sounds on your iPhone is easier than you might think, and with the latest iOS updates, it's even more convenient. Whether you want to use your favorite song, a funny sound clip, or a unique sound effect, this guide will walk you through the process.
To Add Custom Notification Sounds On iPhone;
1: Go to your browser and download the sound you'd like to use for your notification. Once downloaded, you need to convert the audio file.
2: Find any application from the App Store to convert your audio. We recommend "Garage Band". Upload the downloaded file to the application to begin the conversion process.
3: Export the file from the Garage Band application. Choose the location you'd like it to be saved and export it as "Ringtone".
4: Once exported, On your iPhone, go to the "Settings" app and tap on "Sounds & Haptics" or "Sounds". Select the specific type of notification you want to customize, such as "Text Tone" or "Mail".
5: Tap on "Sound" and scroll down to the "Ringtones" section. Under "Ringtones," you should see your custom notification sound listed. Tap on it to select it as the new sound for that particular notification.

@@BigBallerBrand. oh thanks
So many steps for something that should take less than a minute to set up. Sigh.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH for sharing this with us! I appreciate the very clear and straightforward instructions. Cheers!
That's my experience with iPhone across generations, It's very restrictive, sometimes driving me insane when trying to accomplish a simple task and it's one of the reasons I will switch to shitdroid phones after mine dies.
On a side note, we can't even control message/text sounds individually without affecting the ringtone sound... bleh.
I know, right?? For once, I'd like to just program a custom notification on my iPhone without having to get all frustrated haha!
Oh well, at least battery life has improved greatly compared to how they used to perform back in the day. Revel in little joys!@@m3t4llic69
I'm definitely using the "you got mail." sound
Thank you for such an excellent guide on how to do this. Works a treat though surely Apple could make it easier to do?
Excellent, but now with IO’s 17 update we are unable to change notifications sounds for text , bad thing on apple after paid so much on IPhone.
Yes you can only send to Ringer or text tone no longer see on IOS 17.0 anyone know work around?
😢
Wow
@@casinonight3443 yes after you export from garage band it gives you the option to “use sound as” you can select text tone there and it will work.
Works on 17.1
The fact that you have to do this to add a ringtone is ridiculous. I'm going back to android.
Did you go back to Android?
@@osamabeenpoppingtv2 I will soon. have to make a few more monthly payments so my cancellation fee will be cheaper.
want a medal buddy
@@riley2920 Nope. Just an Android.
not that big of a deal you baby😂😂
Thank you so much for explaining this. It is so much more complicated than on my Android phone!
It’s not real. It makes your ringtone sound like that not your notifications
@@blxsrthanks bro
Your video is great, well explained, thank you!

What model of iPhone do you have?
Bro thought we wouldn’t notice the genshin impact app💀
I did all of this but when someone texts me, my phone still only vibrates even when the sound is selected :(
make sure your phone isn't on silent
i'm tryna make my notification sound as PLUH
Find the notification sound
Can I use another application besides the Garage Band??
I don’t think so
Bro wants alternative even tho garage band has no issues smh
This method does not work for the voicemail notification
How can we do voicemail
why the sound not compatible for whatsapp chat ?
For WhatsApp, try making the changes within the app
because it’s a ringtone and not a notification tone. ringtones are used for when someone is calling you. the title of this video is misleading
Nice explanation but am I missing something? This is how to create and add a custom ringtone…I was expecting an custom alert tone that one could possibly use as message alert for WhatsApp
Same thing I’m also facing, do you have any idea plz le me know
Any news on this?
As of now, this cannot be done. You can only set custom ringtones using Garage Band or ITunes or Any Trans app, but you cannot create custom alert tones.
bro charge ur phone
15,000 gmail notifications?! Dang, that’s gonna take a while to clear out
Yeah fr! I thought 6000 was a lot, but damn man
