Love On Top was Morissette Amon's audition song for the Voice PH. Sarah Geronimo was the only judge to turn around for her, and the rest is history! btw, she sounds 100% better now.

Morissette got this VS in the Bag! She's sung better in this performance compared to Sarah G.
Maybe because Sarah's performance is in a TV show so the preparation might be limited,
Morissette's performance is from a concert, so Mori has more freedom in terms of song arrangement and stage lighting.
But still no excuse though.
Sarah maybe Mori's coach, but definitely Mori's a better singer.
I'm not taking anything from Sarah, she's the most successful solo artist here in the Philippines, but based on the VS performances I pick Mori.
Even so, based on the performance alone Mori did it for me, sick or not.
If you ask me to compare them overall, Even if I like Sarah more, Mori has better vocals.
Both of them are good performers though.
i think they're both good and have their own style on interpreting this song. what more important this time is they are both gifted by kindness and talents. Maybe this isn't Sarah's most excellent performance by enduring sickness but i am certain SG is an amazing performer not a simple entertainer. Mori is brilliant and phenomenal. But belting then belting then belting through the years may sounds a little bit off. I guess mori needs to choose her own longterm genre and not immitating anyone like SG did. At the end They are our pride. so lets cheer for both of them and lets thank God cause mori and sarah reach Ovela And m-angel despite of miles away.

True, for the longest time Sarah was imitating foreign divas, which is pretty normal a few years back. But I am glad she found her signature sound now

I may have chosen Mori vocally, but clearly I like Sarah G's work more.

I sooo love both of them but Mori is such wonderful to watch. I definitely agree with what all you said. Sarah is the ultimate performer and would not be called popstar princess for nothing but I love watching Morisette because she have a very unique and power voice. I love seeing her growth as an artist, from the day she audition on The voice to now that she is having her own concerts she never fails to amaze me. This two represent Filipino artist very well. Love on top was the audition piece of Morisette during her stint on the Voice of Ph and Sarah was her coach.
Sarah is PH pop princess and she always be. She made her status pretty much stable. And Morisette on the other hand is just starting her big break and she's really the one to watch out for.
Love your reactions as always and this battle against who sings better is a win win for the both of them and definitely no hard feelings whatever the results will be at the end.

i've read some of the comments.. most are saying that Sarah may be tired or sick and that this is just not one of those excellent performances of hers. come on guys, we all know where these two singers stand. Mori is better. it's very obvious. Soooooo much obvious. Even if you dare to watch and review aalllll their videos and compare them one by one, both technical and vocal, no doubt, Mori has it. Sarah's only edge is that, she can dance better or "perform" better on stage with those choreo's and all. well she has to be better at least with that. she's been in the industry for 14 long years. She's had all those kinds of workshops. tons of workshops i would say. while Mori has only been in the business for how long? only a few years ago. she was under Talent 5 before where they didn't really give her enough recognition and break. Until she joins The Voice Philippines in 2014, where she became part of team Sarah. And during the finals, Sarah picked Klarisse over Morisette. which was very surprising for everybody. even for the other coaches who knew as well that Mori is better. No wonder Klarisse didn't win against Mitoy, (although i think Mitoy still had the bigger chance of winning even vs Morisette since he had the sympathy of the televiewers). But since then, i have this big question in my mind: Why did Sarah choose Klarisse instead of Morisette?? Why?? Was she threatened carreer-wise that Mori will be more popular than her in the future?? ('cause Sarah herself know how good Morisette is.) Plus, they were already being compared at that time because of their resemblance, so people tend to compare them as well already as singers..

of course she'll picked klarisse, for some reasons.. like if she had chosen mowie, then she's inviting a threat.. bcoz if mowie made it to the finals, just a single whistle, she'll win..
thus, mowie will bcome more famous instantly, then sarah will be left behind.. so yeah, well i cannot blame sarah, abs cbn may have something to do with it..

yeah, you're right. really cannot blame sarah with that decision. of course, who in the world would voluntarily grill herself alive, right? i just feel sad for mori at that time, but not anymore, since Morisette is now working her way up. 😉😉😉
And 1 more thing i noticed, this is Bamboo's concert. And bamboo is one of the The Voice coaches right? And in this concert of his, he had Morisette as his guest, not Klarisse... (you know what i mean) 😁😂 so kudos to Bamboo. perhaps he has a better sense of choice.

I agree in a sense that Sarah started out at a really young age (around 14-15 yrs of age) in the industry belting out really high songs . . . performing on TV shows, concerts, endorsing brands, and also acting (both teleserye and movies), almost at the same time, for the longest time since she became one of the most in demand new artists back in early 2000's. And if I'm not mistaken, she mentioned in multiple interviews before that due to her overworking all the time, getting little to no rest/sleep, it really affected both her physical and vocal health--misusing it, overworking it--to the point where she would still sing even when she's sick ---one example that I can recall is when she got sick the day before her To Love Her More concert at the Aliw theater, she still managed to go through the entire concert under bad condition. Just watch a clip of her singing The Voice Within from that concert and you can really tell.
For me, comparisons are always subjective. Everyone is different and everyone has their own preferences. Vocally, even though Morissette's range is wider, I'd still prefer Sarah's voice due to the quality and tone of it--yeah, she started out as a belter and if they didn't over work her, the range of her voice might have expanded more and developed healthier techniques. Sarah was, and still, remains as one of the top idols in the Philippines that both the generations of today (like Morissette) and yesterday aspire to become.
Morissette definitely owned the song more because she was comfortable with it have sung it many times before. Sarah on the other hand, was cautious given the fact that the ASAP crew gave her the song to study a couple of days before performing it live on TV, so timing possibility played a factor in her performance as well.
Sa dami po ng napakinggan kong videos ni Sarah mula noon hindi po sya umabot sa ganitong level ng galing kay Mori. Ang gusto ko lang kay Sarah alam mong mabait, matino at humble..
yes morissette has the range, but you cant also discount the fact that mori has the vocal techniques, vocal acrobats, the runs, the raspiness, the growls, and she showed it in this performance which by the way made this video enjoyable to watch, hndi lang sa high notes. kaya tigilan kami sa mga palusot na high notes lang ang meron si morissette. masyado nyong ina-underrate eh porket nasanay na kayo na mataas boses niya.
Judge based only to that performance. That was the intention of the reactors...Don't get too defensive about your idol ok..Fyi, she has a very controlled low notes hindi lng po high notes..

range, cracking of voice, whistle, power.. may mori has advantage than sarah.. but the tone, raspiness, soul, story teller.. performance, fierce.. sarah won.. in other words sarah is more versatile and other genres can do..
but with this performance alone.. mori wins..

Ever since Sarah 's voice is not as powerful as Regine's or Morissette's, but she contributed a lot in her industry in her won ways cause she can perform and she is an actress too plus her personality on and off camera is superb, and now she coached Morissette and Klarisse with all humility and she is very happy with their achivements. Morissette's voice is always so powerful and she is still new in the industry, but i can't compare her to Sarah because they are both in same company and they are good friends. Sarah have issues with her health that's why she took a break for 2 months, she admit having difficulties in her weekly performances in ASAP.
Morissette will always be the better singer if vocal power and technicality are concerned. And so obviously like you said, she shined especially for this kind of song with very smooth delivery. Sarah, on the other hand can only beat her through interpretation and the emotional asperct. But definitely, I liked the way you handled your criitique not taking away respect from each of the artist. Thanks guys!

I definitely choose morisette over sarah. Morisette is I think 3 notes higher than Sarah so the song really fits into morisette. But I remember, before, sarah can sing a high note song, like in her past songs forever is not enough and how could you say you love me. i give this point to morissete... i look up to her rendition of love on top. though sometimes if u watch the offcam vid of sarah her voice is different and far better cause they need to leesen the volume of her mic in the official tv broadcast cause of the loud audience everytime she performs. though offcam vids highlights her voice cause theres no noise cancelation.
And Sarah G is not much more of a belter, she's a performer. That's her strength.

Between the two, I prefer Morissette over Sarah. Well for one, the vocal acrobatics was more "stable" than Sarah's. The riffs, the runs, the growls, the vibrato...you name it Mori has it. And for this particular video, (Oh men, When does she breathe?) Morissette did the singing without so much decoy or should I say none at all. You know what I mean? There wasn't so much going on on stage to convert our attention to. Only Mori belting out flawlessly.
Anyways, there is another version of Love On Top by Morissette at the starmall but Im afraid if you can still manage to see the video cause I know that you've been getting a lot of requests from us. Hehehe.

As far as the movement on stage is concerned, we've seen Sarah do far better performances. The cap she wore may have been a bad idea because it limits her mobility (might keep falling off).
I've seen Morissette's audition (Love On Top) on The Voice Philippines and you can sense that she's grown by leaps and bounds here as a vocalist. The power behind the voice was already with her when she started. It's the control & technique on how to optimize that power that was added to her set of skills. And what's scary is that I don't think she's quite done growing yet.
