Can we calculate absorption maximum of a cyclic conjugated diene in spectroscopy? Yes, of course it can be done with the help of few empirical rules given by Woodward-Fieser.
Cyclic conjugated dienes can exist as homoannular or heteroannular dienes where the former shows more bathochromic shift than the later. But the molar absorptivity is more observed with heteroannular dienes.
