I listened and sang this as a teenager while attending Church and I thought the words sounded different. Now I'm going to look up the original song and the words on the internet and just in case I can't find it there I still have an old hymnal my mother had (for i know don't know how long) and after she passed away in 1989 my youngest daughter retained it. The more changing of the words that we all are experiencing, I think it's more important now than ever to hold onto books from our past before they become obsolete. I also bought some old history books from a very small school that hadn't been used in I don't know how long, they're from the early 1900s and does tell a different history than the sanitized version we hear told to us today. P.s. I'm so sorry I went on a tangent.

@Liam Smith the Bible has plenty of stories in which this happened. The most interesting one to me is Cain and Abel. God warned Cain very clearly, yet allowed Abel to be murdered by his brother. Absolutely God could have prevented it, could stepped in, could have stopped it. So why didn't He? God wanted to show to everyone how evil, sinful, immoral everyone is. It's our lesson to understand. Let's not get all precious about flesh and bone. Its the second death that really matters. Why else would God allow society to be the way it is?
