NFC south has been routinely bad for the last decade?? what?? The NFC South is one of two divisions to have each of its teams make a Super Bowl appearance since the 2002 realignment (along with the NFC West): Tampa Bay (2002 and 2020), Atlanta (2016), Carolina (2003 and 2015) and New Orleans (2009).
The Bucs literally went on the road with 11 wins as a wildcard team against a 7 win NFC East team in 2020 on their way to a Superbowl...Stop crying and win your division or win on the road in the playoffs...
Buccs are in a weird position where either they win their division and stay in the playoffs, or don’t make the playoffs at all. There are no options for them to play away in the wild card games as they are all secured by teams with better W/L record. They HAVE to win to play
There’s still a reason for divisions if playoff seating were by record. The league would continue to schedule 2 games against divisional opponents. Your divisional record will still be a tie-breaking factor .
The current system is bad. They are rewarding teams for being in a bad division. Not only should PO seating be determined by record, only the top 7 teams by record should be emitted into the Playoffs in each conference. That means the 7-9 Bucs team in 2022 is out.
This is a stupid argument, win your division and you will get a home game. Back in 2020 when the Bucs won the Super Bowl they had to go on the road and play the 7-9 Washington Commanders during the Wild Card round. Some years you have super strong divisions like this years NFC North, and some years you have weak divisions like the 2020 NFC Least (East).
Funny he didn't mention my NFC North. Which has been HORRIBLY bad over over the entire existence of the Superbowl. It's taken us 50 years to have 3 high-powered teams in the same year. So, no. I'm not going to start clamoring for them to change the rules just because we managed to FINALLY be competitive. Win your damn Division.
Broncos need tie or win. If they lose they need both Dolphins and Bengals to not win their games. Dolphins need to win and they need the Broncos to lose, they are not affected by the Bengals. Bengals need to win, Broncos to lose and Dolphins to not win.
You'll bring up a good discussion topic of the NFL's current format for seating. I agree it, sucks having a division leader with a 500 season get a playoff spot, who is below a more deserving team in a different division, with a better record who misses the post season. You shouldn't be punished if you have a stacked division. It would raise the bar and bring better playoff match ups and division games would only come into question if both were tied in overall wins and each had enough wins to make it to the post season.
Same thing happen with the Blazers and they changed the NBA playoff seeding. They finished 6th one year but got the 4th seed because they won their division and got home court advantage
Well, the NFC North got to feast on the AFC south and 500 teams, while the NFC South had to play the AFC/NFC playoff teams from last year. So if we clinch, come play us. If your good, you might win. I'm sure teams going home in week 18 will gladly play on the road in the playoffs.
What are you talking about?? Yall play the nfc east and afc west this year. Denver, chargers, raiders, giants, commanders did not make the playoff last year
10:40 What an ignorant take. The Bengals won an AFC title in Arrowhead four years ago and then lost to the Rams in the Super Bowl. Congratulations, what have they done since?! Absolutely nothing. Chiefs have won 3 of the last 4 meetings as well and it’s just laughable to say the Chiefs fear them. I guess any clown really can spew idiotic takes and make a living nowadays. Between the Stephen A’s, Skip Bayless’, Cowheard’s,Rex Ryan’s and these clowns on ESPN, I swear that sports shows have never been worse in history. I miss ESPN when I was growing up…
Old heads... as a 44 year old said, win your division, and you won't have to go on the road in the playoffs. My argument is ... players dont play for division titles. Players play ultimately for a superbowl. You get nothing for winning your division besides home field advantage, so what's the point. Let's change these rules already .... power in team winning records should matter most.
I understand the argument, but if we made playoff seeding based solely on W-L record, then the divisions would be meaningless. Then by that logic, you could make a case to dissolve the conferences
NFL divisions are miles different than college conferences. No way the mountain west conference will ever be as competitive as the SEC. Those schools just dont have the same level of resources. In the NFL if you can find the right coach and QB combo you can turn around a franchise ASAP.
I like system NFL has in place. Add more playoff brackets, adding more possible scenarios for 4x wildcards for each conference, 3x semi divisional round, 2x divisional, 1x championship, then the Superbowl. Personally, I would like to see NFL expand adding some new teams... so many cities are ready for an NFL team.
Silly discussion. Just how it works sometimes. How do you think Buffalo felt for almost 20 years in a division with the Pats? Unless you throw out division winners as the top seeds it won’t matter.
Burrow isn't an easy win, but as a Chiefs fan, I would love to see Burrow vs Allen. Much harder win for Buffs. But a lot of Bengals fans are pissed because The Chiefs can send them home before Playoffs even start. They are mad because they don't have their expected outcome. So Cincy fans are going to yap.
Hey pal...the NFL created NFC south and AFC south in 2004 ...stop whining ,get use to it ...by the way ..the bucs secondary just fine ..they are better than most teams secondary ..thats not exuse ...
The Divisions are silly ( why for example are the Colts in the AFC 'South' , while the Dolphins are in the AFC East?) . And the seeding is even more silly. Winning your division should get you an automatic playoff birth - and nothing more. Better record should be seeded higher and get a home playoff game. Its just common sense.
fairly new to NFL, being british n all , but the way NFLs playoff system works is outrageous, How is Detroit winning 13 games only on the wild card?, while bucks have bettered with 9 wins as it stands? i get divisions and historic rivalries n that, but thats obviously one unfair broken system, dont worry, we have just as messed up systems in soccer over here too. These big sports industries only care about one thing, Money, not fair play
Conclusion: If KC rests its main starters like Mahomes and a few others Denver has a shot. Miami has a good chance, Tampa is very likely to win and Cincy winning is possible but not too likely to win over Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh.
Pittsburgh sucks! Have you not seen a game lately? Dolphins suck! Have you not seen them all yr? Broncos will get lucky with KC sitting Mahomes and others.
Don't use ranking it doesn't work in college the way they rank is not fair lot of better teams don't get that chance cause it's done by opinions and not honesty like they took Florida state out of their chance they earn it so no ranking is evil let them wins and losses speak
The team with the better record should host the game at home, 7 and 9 Panthers and the Saints had home games because of winning their division so penalize the team with the better season is fair, yeah ok
Hey I got an idea? How about we go back to 6 teams in the playoffs. 4 division winners and 2 wild cards- wild card teams go on the road to play the 2 lower seed teams and the 1&2 seed teams get a week off 💁🏻♂️ Ever since we went to 7 teams we always get scrub teams in the playoffs that are right around .500. Nobody cares about those teams but the homers of that team and they are 9/10 times one and done 🤦🏻♂️
If the jets show up? last years they didn't kick a successful field goal for like 9-12 games. they had zero points most of the season. there is no jets.
@@cG-Mr.213 I think he's saying he disagrees with it. The fact that either the Vikings or Lions (with either of their records) will become part of a wild card game and not even be at home is ridiculous.
I would agree if the NFL made this change. If a team wins it's division with a 9-7 record, they secure a playoff spot but will be on the road against a team with a better record.
Don't change anything else. It is crazy 🤪 talk for what if you have 4 teams with excellent records someone still has to go on the road. Leave it as is.
No bruh thats SO Stupid!! U shouldn’t get punished for winning a division Dont change the playoffs itll make it exactly like cfb I Do not Agree wirh Leger😒
MAYFIELD ALWAYS CHOKES IN THE IMPORTANT GAMES. SAME WITH LAMAR WITH THE BALTIMORE RAVENS. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THE VIKINGS. THEY LOOK GOOD BUT I'M NOT DRINKING THE KOOL-AID. I PICK DETROIT.
really nfc south traditionally the weakest division? What are we stupid. drew breeze went on rampage for years then u just got rescued from the brady bunch. y'all are lucky that aaron rodgers didnt go to tampa like he shouldve of.
Back when teams played 8 of their 16 games against division opponents is the last time divisions really mattered. Playing 6 of your 17 games now against the division makes it much less significant.
The guy in the middle doesn’t make any logical sense. The best teams getting rewarded means divisions mean nothing? That is a ridiculous argument. You can compete against your division and get a playoff spot it does absolutely nothing to the divsion rivalries when you compare and go off of record for playoff seeding. It is much better to actually reward the teams that are better. That’s like saying your son would be a much better ceo than the most qualified person for the job. It’s ridiculous to reward crappy teams with a home game against a much better team. Especially when only the 1 seed gets a bye. Get ready of the stupid 7th team into the playoffs. It’s lame. The 1 seed is so overly favored. But here’s a great fix that makes the most sense: If a team takes second place in the division but has 12 wins or more and the the divisional winner has less than 12 wins then they do not get home field. Make the rule be a 12 win minimum and if a second place team has 12 but another divisions winner has less than 12 the second place team gets home field

They have been one of the worst divisions in the league for a while now. Usually my reporters are dead wrong but he was right with both divisions
7 out of 22 years means nothing
The retirements of Brady, Breese, Ryan, and Newton are noticed
you have to remember only two of those are the last decade, and that 2016 is barely in the last decade. Time has passed quickly, my friend.
How many teams from the north made the Superbowl in the last decade? None
The Bucs literally went on the road with 11 wins as a wildcard team against a 7 win NFC East team in 2020 on their way to a Superbowl...Stop crying and win your division or win on the road in the playoffs...

NFC south team(bucs) won the Super Bowl 4 years ago. Any team can catch fire at the right time
Garbage time points don't count and makes games appear to be closer than in reality
Bucs are also 3rd youngest team in the NFL 1 more knockout draft and SB contenders for the next 5 years
Pete laid down the Hammer 😂😅
NFC South bad for a decade? Are you crazy? Every team has reached the SB and TB has won it.
Yes, the NFC South is not a good division and really never has been one.
When is the last time they had two teams over 500 in the same year?
@codyalger2792 Every team in NFC South has been to the SB...and two have won it.

I think winning your division will guarantee you a playoff spot. But now the seeding should be best records get you a home game
It’s Crazy how people hate on the Buccaneers theses days cause they won a few Superbowls in this century
No way The Jets play a serviceable QB to win. Might as well think about the draft! Dolphins are going to get in!

Who’d you go w
Another Skip that think because he is older and watched more means he's more knowledgeable
I do think you drop the playoff teams to 6 and give top 2 a bye.
NFC South has been bad the past decade ? Bucs won the Super Bowl 3 years ago 😂, Atlanta and Panthers made a Super Bowl appearance the past 10 years
should be top 2 best record be 1 &2 and the other be division champs
He must be forgetting that the bucs also took the lions down to the wire last year to go to the NFC championship game.
And they beat them this yr
The Broncos aren't a must win team. They can get in with a loss provided both the Dolphins and Bengals lose as well.

Buffalo sucked perry much every yr Tom was there..... didn't matter what division they would have been in....
Yeah there’s no way Mahomes will be in against the team with the most sacks in the league… that’s an unnecessary risk to take
Denver’s has his attention they gon knock them out they def upset them before they aint forget

Not gonna happen 💯 Lions have no D and KC is overrated
Bills vs lions with lions winning it. Nfl has to reward goff
@bernadettespradley2770 How ignorant 🤣🤣🤣 Goff needs to be rewarded 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Broncos take the 7 seed this weekend. KC would rather take a loss than let the bengals into the playoffs.
Broncos fna lose, Miami in💯
Why on earth would KC be afraid of the damn bengals?
@@nayb9773 because they have the best QB and wide receivers.
