Jethro brother. I've been watching your Alpha videos. I'm a retired automotive tech hear in states . Owned and rebuilt an 1973 Fiat 124 spider. From bumper to bumper and everything between. Love Italia.
My second Alfa a 1750 GTV was also oche yellow. Its a very hard colour to get your head around at first but it does grow on you.1750 is such a jem of a motor.
At least when you put it back together and there are parts left over you will no why .Can't wait to see your new build . It will be a great feeling for you and previous owner to get the back on the road after such a long time.
Really cool find! I have the same car (euro spec) that Im working on. Mines red but was the same color as your original color was. I have some cool ideas for some rat-rod personal touches. Ill send to you as I do it to mine. Involves a vintage pyrometer and 4 thermocouples mounted into the exhaust manifold (one mounted in each pipe). Cheap parts for it on Ebay, and should also serve a purpose.
Great story. That just doesn't happen in the UK anymore I went to an Auction last week where there was a very, very rust GTJ. It still went for 4 grand!
HA! Broken Alfa!! Jethro, we are getting on with the rust repair on our GTB.. You know how they say, 'swiss cheese Ours is swiss cheese... Without the cheese!!
Hi Jethro. Thanks for another interesting video.....hope you do more videos during the projekt, especially when you open up for the 1750 engine. cheers Henrik :-)
Very nice find, i think that one can realy be a good build, strip it and send it to a sandblaster. and the good thing is there is not so much to strip.
Alfisti Adventures I will definitely have this one blasted. I think I will keep the outside looking the way it does though, and blast and primer the underside, inside, wheel wells, boot, and engine bay.
hey ALFA-Fan.... it was my absolut 1° car - and in 1984 cost it 660.000 italian Lire (now 330 € !!) i have the 1600 GT and 1750 GTV what i was a stupid young man in this time - when i see the actually value i´m just CRYING....:::)))
Hello from brazil I love alfa romeo and lancia In brazil this cars coast much money But Here in Brazil, were made a Alfa romeo 2300 ( is literaly a Alfetta but have some modifications) Obs: the 2300 is a Sedan
Yes I've head of that car! It's very rare outside of Brazil. We are lucky that in South Africa there were lots of Alfa 105 series cars, so they were very affordable until recently.
Alfa was is South Africa to about 1984. Car manufacturing was required by law to have a percentage of local content (30%?). Mercedes manufactured in SA were heavier than German models, to get to local content % they used heaver sheet metal for bodies. Alfa would at least have been stamping body in SA, probably seats cables etc. also SA made. GTV 3.0 V6 (80s trans-axle) was a SA original. Italy said 2.5 could not be taken to 3.0.
Hello Jethro, I see from the plates on youre daily drive that youre in Pitermaritzburg, South Africa? I will be visiting my family in July from Pitermaritzburg, im from Tasmania, and would like to catch up with you? Regards, Alex
Well the 2000 in it is seized, and I have the original 1750 with a built head, new pistons, good crank etc etc. I think it will be a much cheaper way to get the car running. And the whole point of this build is cheap fun. I'm also planning to sell the GTV after a while, and if it has its original engine it will be more valuable.
How difficult would it be to convert it to a GTC convertible ? I didn't know if the cars are the same length or any legal requirements in SA stopping you from doing that ?
The GTC is actually very very different from a GT or a GTV. Under the skin the internal structure has many changes to make it stiffer, like thicker sills, cross bracing in the engine bay, and in the cabin. Also, they have a much longer boot lid in order to make the proportions work. I’ve seen a few GTs and GTVs that have been converted and they look terrible. I think removing the roof from a GTV makes it downright dangerous, like a Spider with rusted sills, it’s just a death trap.
@@JethroBronner Evening Jethro. Interesting. I assumed the general chassis structure was strengthened to cope with the roof being removed and even the windscreen surround reinforced. I haven't ever seen a GTC in the UK but I'm aware the prices are sky rocketing so didn't know if it was worth while going down that route whilst it was stripped out. From what I can see the dimensions of the cars are the same give or take a couple of mm. Daytona's had a lot of conversions done to them and Crayford did a lot too with various makes.Attached Fangio driving one ! ua-cam.com/video/9ZIbxAcD3xw/v-deo.html

Great find - would love to see in Le Mans or navy blue - have a great road trip
Malcolm Scott Le Mans Blue is one of my favorite colours for a 105. I’m thinking about painting my 2000 GTV that colour.
Very nice find
Nice find, I'd like to get some GTV magnetic powers like you!
Sweet! Another Alfa! If you ever want to part ways with one of your projects, I’d love a right-hand drive Alfa over here to work on for my channel!👍🏼
Have to say these are dang cool cars.
old school PMB numberplates
ivan bengtson well spotted 👍
Nice find Jethro 😁
It was an amazing find! Glad I was able to bring it home.

I wish i could buy this like u
Nice find..you should try to fix the rust and paint it in primer 😁
Raising Junior I will fix the rust, but I’m not going to paint this one. I like the Patina as it is. I might clear coat it though...
Jethro Bronner yeah I'd add some protection, Alfa steel is not like that from an American car from the 50's
Interesting challenge ! For spare parts check "afra" located in Settimo milanese, Italy (outskirts of Milan). Very professional guys
Giancarlo Folco Thanks! I had the pleasure of visiting Afra at their store in Italy in November 2015. They were very kind to me.
low stress car. I like it.

Enjoy your trip, hurry back! 😅
How did all these Alfas end up in South Africa? Were they widely sold there in the 1960’s?
Buick Mackane They were assembled here back in the 60s/70s. There are a lot of them around because they were built here for a long time.

For a rat 1750 GTV why not keeping the 2.0 lit? Hasn't the 2.0lit more torque for easy, fun driving?
