Bro!! I've been on island now for a few years and I'm just starting to fish. I've watched you for years and would love to get together and fish with you bro 🤙🤙
Mahalo! That is cool you took a look. The state blew it on multiple projects like this one, thinking oh well lets just bring in this fish that nothing has ever interacted with and let it loose, sick plan. Then, full blown blowout blowing it.
Reminded me of night fishing in the California Delta east of the San Francisco Bay Area. Me and my buddies would do all nighters there fishing for catfish and stripers back when I was you and the bruddahs age. Turns out I live only a few miles from one of our favorite spots there now. Merry Christmas all of you.
That is awesome, hope to be doing what we are up to for a long time more! Mele Kalikimaka! Pretty great you ended up near your old stomping grounds, cool how life can work out that way. Mahalo nui loa!
Aloha kakou Gentlemen. Nice to see my old stomping grounds being fished, and still producing. Used to fish the coast from Miloli'i to Mahukona but my favorite was Kiholo Bay and north along the coast back when you needed a key to the gate from McCandless Ranch. This was 35 years ago when Kailua-Kona was half the size. Never had a much Ta'ape and To'au back then, we mainly caught Menpachi and Aweoweo. One time had an Aweoweo population explosion so was easy fo' catch plenty in one night. Of all the invasives I like the To'au the best, very ono and usually much bigger than Ta'ape. My biggest To'au was 5 pounds. Ta'ape make up in quantity what they lack in size though you guys caught a couple murfs this night. Any Ro'i become fertilizer though until someones develops an affordable cig test. The bigger Po'opa'a excellent fo' make sabao (soup). Mahalo nui for sharing your adventures. Don't know if I'll ever make it back to Kona but at least I can watch you guys fish.
5 pounds is a monster for ta'au! Nice one! Awesome to hear we can keep up with the traditions of fishing in these waters, we are blessed and happy to do so. Ta'ape are damn tasty. We were stoked on what we hooked up on that night, especially after the dry sunset haha. Roi fertilizer is the way to go with those guys, not worth the risk in my book to eat them, and yea the testing kit is to much :[. Mahalo nui loa for the support glad to have you as a viewer! If you make it back this way let us know we all go holoholo!
wassup braddah King Kapuka! Awesome show as always!! slaying da Ta'ape's! I always blast doz buggahs when I dive him and da cousin To'ao lol! right on! next time tel Dangalang slang bring tabbis! lol! and headlamp! anyways cool vibes! Cool seeing you buss out some new friends to bring on the show! goodtimes cuzz! Awrye! braddah Jess is out! cheee huu! Doooshh!
Howzit Jess! Mahalo again for the support! Haha ta'ape on the wide that night! Dude they were even in the back of my truck and all just never grabbed any of them. Thanks man! Got to keep the community growing! CHEEEE! Dooooosh!
I think the best night fishing rig is a whipping rig but with a golf ball instead of a lead weight . All you have to do is drill a hole through the golf ball. It works because the fish are a little slower at night because they can only either smell stuff or hear stuff. Golf balls sink slower and move through the water slower, it works great with grubs or bait.
Can you eat Ala'ihi? And how are you supposed to clean Ala'ihi and not get cracks from those poison spike fins?! Caught one the other night but threw em back in. Wasn't sure what to do with em. Lol
Yea you can eat them! They are real hard to clean though need a super sharp knife and to the way we have done it is just chop off the head right away starting at the gillplate being sure to avoid the poison spine there and take the whole deal off.
Elias Callejo not worth it in my opinion lol they will buss you up when trying to get tge hook out and still manage to buss you up while trying to clean um lol ive tried more than a few times lol the scales are like armor and the gill plate fins will leave you hurtin for an hour straight lol
How do these invasive species get introduced to the shores of Hawaii? Was this intentional? I read online that the Peacock Grouper was introduced in Hawaii in the 1950s.
You can thank fish and game for this invasive species, kinda like the mongoose of the ocean as this species kills other species of fish in Hawaii. Glad you can eat this one though instead of like the mongoose. But still so aggressive and kills other hawaii speicies
I watch your videos almost every day
Mahalo nui loa braddah! Appreciate your support a ton.

Got to agree! We need to make more of them, they are great for menpachi.
micah barville forreal use golf ball. dunking or whipping?
Bradda Fishing gotta agree on the golf balls helps not hooking aina to much since they just bounce of rocks
Take care of that SS, that's some vintage JDM gear! Like a vintage Skyline, I'd only take it for a spin once in a while to stretch it's legs.
They brought the line back man! Bought this one last year! Such a solid reel model dude!
Really? Nice, gotta check one out. I still got my first ever childhood Daiwa, it could use some company!

The state brought them in thinking they would be a good market, but somehow forgot they can get cig and what do you know no one wants to buy them.
ronkreed no one wants to buy or eat them because they can make you super suck.. so now they multiply like crazy and eat the fish that you can eat lol
What ur biggest fish so far?
Off the shore 8# mu!
Cheeeee action
Yea buddy! Stoooked!
I go to Hawaii a lot do you guys ever fish with fans
All the time!
Why are you so afraid of Roi but fine with eating ta'ape?
From the statistics I have seen roi are one of the top level sketch ones.
I am from oahu

Yea the whole thing was such a bad idea... I guess you could eat mongoose too ;D lmfao.
That wasn't a cowrie shell
I thought it was, isn't it the same shell as this one? www.teachoceanscience.net/images/cowry_lure_lge.jpg
