What is chanted here is known as Brahma gayatri for which rishi is Brahma deva. If bhur bhuvah swaha is added, it is known as Vishwamitra gayatri mantra, for which, rishi is Vishwamitra rishi and it is used during sandhya vandana.

Well, it seems like they were wrong. You cannot just change vedic mantra which was given by God himself and add something else to it which is not given in the oldest scriptures (Rigveda & Yajurveda). "Bhur Bhuva Svaha" is not given in those first scriptures. Not even the Pranava "Aum" is given before the original first line because it just starts with "Tat Savitur Vareñyam ... etc". @@chetanm1531 good point no doubt. I too have heard audios with stress on the OO of भर्गो but in some versions of Rig Veda chanting in India, I've seen anudatta, udatta and swara pronounced slightly differently. I'm wondering if any specific one can be called "wrong"?
@@chetanm1531 😀 yes, I too am keen to know the 'authentic, vedic' chant. Some pronunciation in Karnataka may differ from that in Tamil Nadu, which may again differ from North India. I wish there was some scholar to shed light on this. I am desperate to get perfection in chanting because some mantras affect adversely when chanted wrongly. Anyway, thanks for your kind views.
Thank you for this upload. Just one question - Is the Dhi in Dhiyo hrsava or deergha swara? I can't discern the difference in pronunciation. Similarly if the "hi" in Dheemahi is hrasva why do we extend it?
i have heard from many people that we can't recite gayatri mantra in japa form unless given to you by a guru. i love this mantra but am skeptical to recite it in japa form over and over. if any knowledgeable folks have any real source that advises otherwise, please provide.
Correct. This mantra should only be practiced as per the rules and only during specific time of the day. If practiced wrongly it will only attract sin and punishment. Whoever advocates chanting by anyone and at anytime…ask them if they are willing to share the sin of wrong chanting and attract the ire of deva
As per the sandhi rules of reciting Vedic mantras, If visarga (ः) is followed by a pa (प/প) then the visarga should be pronounced as f For example, dhiyo yo naf prachodayat (Gayatri Mantra) Tanno Rudraf prachodayat(last line of Tatpurusha shiva GM,which is written as Tanno Rudrah prachodayat) Tanno Durgif prachodayat(though it's written as Tanno Durgih prachodayat) Likewise there are many other sandhi rules regarding anusvaara and visarga. Hope you got it.
@@kashinath3824 And if you "by chance" find a mantra where visarga is followed by a pha (till now I haven't found any such mantra though) then apply the same visarga to f rule. :)
One is Nichrut-Gayatri Chandas with 23 letters (varenyam). Other is Gayatri Chandas with 24 letters (vareniyam). Just recollecting. Please check on these lines further.

Question which has vexing me for years is proper pronunciation of the last word of “om bhoor bhuva s***”. Is the proper pronunciation “suva” or “suvaha”? I keep hearing it both ways and it’s driving me nuts because I heard that the mantra is only powerful if you pronounce everything correctly.

*Gayatri Mantra FAQs:*
What is Om Bhoor Bhuvas Suva: ?
Bhoo: + Bhuva: + Suva: = Bhoor Bhuvas Suva:
Bhoo: -> This is the essence of Rig Veda
Bhuva: -> This is the essence of Yajur Veda
Suva: -> Essence of Sama Veda
Om -> Essence of all 3 above
Since it is an essence, we usually recite “Om Bhoor Bhuvas Suvaha” as a symbolism of reciting the entire Rig, Yajur & Sama Veda.

Only the mantra starting from Tatsa’ vitu: ……Prachodayaa’’t appears in various parts of *VEDAs*.
In Veda Samhita, Om Bhoor Bhuvas Suva: does not precede “*Tatsa’ vitu: ……Prachodayaa’’t*
Since we wanted to chant as per Vedas, we chanted only this part.
*What is Gayatri Mantra?*
The devata for the above chant is “Savitu:” So it is called “Savitri Mantra”.
The Chandas for the above mantra is in Gayatri Chandas, hence it is popular known as Gayatri Mantra!
Gayatri Chandas should have 24 letters, but the above mantra is having 23 letters only.

Hi Team, can you chant Sata Akshara Gayatri Mantra?
sir is it for Brahmachari - Gayatri.
I am not brahmin, but I love to practice gayatri. Can I do it. Please enlighten me.
नमस्कारः
We have seen several of your videos.
A very Good work.
Can you please inform if you can teach online.
We want correct pronunciation of some Mantras.
We have seen your Mruthyunjaya Mantra and other videos.
Can we plan the logistics via email.
We are from Hyderabad.
Sir.. Can you please provide the Ghanapatha rendition 🙏🙏
Can you please tell me if all the benefits of the mantra are preserved without reading the usual first 3 words?
Rajareddy
Namah Sureshji..is the swara for thr Rig vedic rendition marginally different from this..? Looking forward to your guidance. Thank you.
Yes. The swaras are slightly different in Rig Veda, especially Svarita
@@TheGhanapati Namaskaram. Should this be what we should recite during Sandhyavandanam?
PraNaams. May i know why is the 'th' in 'Prachodaya t' is being entended. Isn't it's end as in tamizh 'ith' ? Thank you Sureshji.
This has been a nagging question for me for decades despite my learned sister correctly calling out my own flawed peayoga of the 'ith'
But I have an open mind.

why "nah" is sounded like "nahs" before "prachodayaat", can anybody correct or explain to me please so that i can recite correctly
if the given mantra itself is gayatri, why do we added "om bhoor bhuva suva:" what is the advantage if we add it? Please let me know. JaiSrimanNarayana!!

In Taittiriya Aranyaka , it is mentioned that the line Om Bhur... be added before chanting.
Where is om bhuh bhuba swaha
Aasivada SWASTI VAACHA (After main function) regarding bhavanto anugrnnatu tatastu. Is not available in UA-cam. Will you please release it?
One doubt . The whole mantra should be chanted at once without losing breath is it correct ? 🙏Kindly clarify
Can you please tell.. Prachodayat shoudl be recited as a prachodayaate? Right?
Suklayajurveda Gayatri japamantram?? 🙏

अतिशय सुंदर ! 👌 😊 भर्गो Pronounced wrongly.
Can you please explain why you think भर्गो is pronounced wrongly?
Vinay Bellare it should be BhargOO like in VarEEnyam
@@chetanm1531 good point no doubt. I too have heard audios with stress on the OO of भर्गो but in some versions of Rig Veda chanting in India, I've seen anudatta, udatta and swara pronounced slightly differently. I'm wondering if any specific one can be called "wrong"?
Vinay Bellare Honestly I don’t know what is right and what is wrong. I just took the stand on what I was taught. I might be wrong as well.
It's actually udattaam and not hrasva or deergha svara. Only vareyeynam is chanted in dheerga swaram.
i have heard from many people that we can't recite gayatri mantra in japa form unless given to you by a guru. i love this mantra but am skeptical to recite it in japa form over and over. if any knowledgeable folks have any real source that advises otherwise, please provide.
Correct. This mantra should only be practiced as per the rules and only during specific time of the day. If practiced wrongly it will only attract sin and punishment. Whoever advocates chanting by anyone and at anytime…ask them if they are willing to share the sin of wrong chanting and attract the ire of deva
Namaskar! Thank you! Can you explain why नः sounds like 'naph' and not 'nah'?
Its a vedic rule.....
@@tulasivijay1152 which is the rule?
As per the sandhi rules of reciting Vedic mantras,
If visarga (ः) is followed by a pa (प/প) then the visarga should be pronounced as f
For example,
dhiyo yo naf prachodayat (Gayatri Mantra)
Tanno Rudraf prachodayat(last line of Tatpurusha shiva GM,which is written as Tanno Rudrah prachodayat)
Tanno Durgif prachodayat(though it's written as Tanno Durgih prachodayat)
Likewise there are many other sandhi rules regarding anusvaara and visarga.
Hope you got it.
@@kashinath3824 And if you "by chance" find a mantra where visarga is followed by a pha (till now I haven't found any such mantra though) then apply the same visarga to f rule. :)
@@ishanipaul8221 Thank you very much. I knew other visarga rules, but not this one.
how is it only 23 letters can u explain please if gayathri should be 24 syllables is adding om making it 24?
One is
Nichrut-Gayatri Chandas with 23 letters (varenyam).
Other is
Gayatri Chandas with
24 letters (vareniyam).
Just recollecting. Please check on these lines further.
@@venugopalanrangarajan1357what about nuf word sir? Does this apply for Gayatri mantra?
But nuf is used for Brahma Gayatri mantra I guess as per my knowledge
Usually recited as Om Bhuh Bhoobar Swah....
It is not here. Is it essential to add it or not.
Please clear our doubts.

Sriman Bijou Das, pls read first comment by Ghanapathi. Its given.

This is ok, now in practice. The earlier Gayatri Mantra was practiced by ancient Sages....just I referred. I have written a blog in Spraking tree website of Times of India reg it.
This Mantra recited perfectly, most authentic. 🙏

"The Brahamchari and the house holder should repeat the Divine Gayatri with Aum,and Bhur Bhuvah Svah,at least 108 times. But if the repetition in that number is not possible, it must be done at least 28 times"
Laghu Asvalayana Smriti
This is Yajur Veda mantra in gayatri chhandas..not the Saavitri that you are referring to
Could you help as have been doing this all wrong for decades obviously! The pronounciation of the na : .. sounds like nuf like a half sound at the f is that correct? Thank you. ❤😅
Na' it's half a, a pronounced with slight blow, so it sounds like nuf but it's not
It is visarga with pakaara after, so it should be pronounced accordingly. Please approach your acharya for clarification
Sir why bhur bhuvah swah is not included in this mantra.
@MahaVakyas Please explain in some more details.
Why the 1st line is not chanted. Looks odd. Pl. clarify.
Some pronounce as "Svaha" and some say ""Suvaha" - 2 syllables or three?

It differs from one Veda to another.
In Rig Veda it is "Swa:"
In Shukla Yajur Veda (Madhyandina Shaakha) it is "Swa:"
In Shukla Yajur Veda (Kaanva Shaakha) it is "Swa:"
In Krishna Yajur Veda it is "Suva:" (This Video. Please see the title of the video.)

@@TheGhanapati Thank you!
missed vyahrati...!!!
Mantra is good but ...donot add in music....from kathmandu, Nepal.....Now from USA
All this should be learnt from an acharya. There is a visarga after the vyahriti. There is svara, ucchaarana, shabda, which are all part of the mantra. Whatever it is without mantra upadesham no effort will be useful
Why does it sound नफ् प्रचोदयात् instead of नः प्रचोदयात्? Please check pronunciation and correct it.
What we have given is the correct Vedic Pronunciation.
@@TheGhanapati as per my understanding it is suppoed to be नः, but it's sounding नफ्. Being rigid will not lead to betterment. Anyway!

My doubt is, why is it pronounced "prachodayaaththuu" (ththuu at the end). Isn't it just 'prachodayaath"
