Nunchucks tracks to Law left side, totally not tracks to his right. 3. SS3 DSS is super inconsistent, sometimes dss moves can be inputted after 45f, sometimes it wont. definitely a bug. and the fact that we are not used to auto DSS from it, makes it harder to get the guaranteed after CH 4. 3+4.4 is whack now, not only it's not a launcher anymore, but you can jab float before the last hit if you block the 3+4, and still a duckable last hit. the only good thing about it is that it deals 40 damage, a little bit more compared to other char 14f punisher, and also guaranteed nunchucks if its CH. but i came along with the risk with it, so maybe the bigger damage is justified? 5. Law is super good during heat dont get me wrong, but his problem from T7 persist, his keepout tools is whack and no fast tracking move in midrange, also now he has a new problem which now his whiff punisher is not as strong anymore and definitely weaker compared to other character, he also doesnt have a far hitting launcher to punish a -15 move now.
@@thegame2834 Yeah, they gave him nunchucks for keepout but still not easy to get the right range to make it not punishable, they also didnt buff his df1 range which is bizarre to me.
With all due respect, when you say for almost every point "yeah just step it" , this is valid for most of Dragunov's kit too. if someone delays a few frames, you still take damage. Such fast moves cannot be stepped on reaction. For heat, you listed every perks confirming how OP his heat is. For Nunchaks, they track well on both, even right side. For DSS inconsistency, mashing works well enough. I agree with you that Law is not broken( though the 10f CH launcher should go.. ) , but he is really super strong in T8, I would definitely rate him S tier next to Jin, Alisa, Lili, Nina etc... He is not God tier like Feng but not far off IMHO.
Yeah when they say "just step right duck and you good lol" it is so funny, not like they can delay or use a homing mid or something. That advice might as well be "just guess better bro".
@@TonguelessDanny Yeah, that is super dumb of him to say that, he should've known better. I've practically seen every Law matches from replay channels, and if what he said is true, then we won't be seeing even a single win from high leveled Law. Sure you can step + duck his options after DSS, but he can choose to cancel into slide step which threatens another layer of 50:50.. High level Laws like Double and Malgu does this constantly and it's what's making him scary.
I think all 4 belong u mentioned belong in the top 10, but the true S tiers imo are the top 5 characters. Drag, Azu, and Feng are in my top 3, others can switch around between Nina, Jun, Lili, King etc. But I dont see Jin being better than these 4. He is in top 10 for sure tho.
Yeah but with that mindset you should never step any characters. Tekken 8 defense still has mind games. You’re better off stepping moves when law is in DSS till they start mixing with homing. Just yesterday I beat a mighty ruler law because he never mixed in a homing move in his DSS pressure, making it a relatively easy dub. Same with drag, I played him for fun for the past two days, and the people who actually choose to step make it significantly more difficult to implement my massive frames vs the people who choose just to hold back and only block.

I wouldn't go as far to say he's as broken as Main Man says. Is he a strong character? Absolutely. But the only players playing him at the highest level are Double & Malgu.
Exactly and they're character specialists that have always played him. Meanwhile known tier-whores of the scene aren't even touching him in 8. He's great but he's clearly a tier below the best in this game, yet everyone makes out like he's broken AF.
And he’s always been that way. I get excited when I see law in top 8 tournament play because, well, he never makes it farther than that . My honest opinion is that the tekken community just knows the law match up too well ( I main law ) so taking him all the way is just gunna b way too hard
@@superbadisfunnyOh yeah that's something that bothers me too. TMM literally says everything is broken when it does not concern Kazuya 😂 Counter throws were great introduction they said...and now everyone complains it's a broken mechanic. Btw to me broken is that too many moves are safe along with being too fast to react. That's stupid 😂
As a law main, WS4 DSS is really easy right now but no one never talked about instant ws4 You can have a plethora of setting up WS4 But you need a visual cue and buffer DF enough to make law in crouching status. The thing is you still needed his ws4 pressure to have a 50/50. It can be jab interrupt and law is one of the most predictable characters sinfe every set up he does is from crouch to have a great pressure and 50/50 i could say he is A+ I can't say his S cause you'll never seen a situation from High level where the Opponent is on LOCK DOWN always from S tier characters. He's pretty buffed atm but S tier is an exaggeration.
As someone who doesn't play Law, I agree you. As you said there is other characters who just lock you down with offense - something Law doesn't do as well. RIP is wrong on the df2 though. I literally side walked either way during a match and got launched from it. It's a crazy good move.
Sorry RIP, but players at green ranks playing on PS5 at 200ms are doing full 90 damage combos consistently with no problem. The execution barrier of LAW is gone when it comes to dishing out damage. LAW will be much more balanced if his nunchuks move was a lot slower and punishable.
As a pad player, the DSS execution requirement in tekken 7 limited my ability to use law, such as his ws4 mixups, which were near impossible to do on pad… now, his pressure tools are much more accessible. I do think the relative ease of execution makes him better now, for me personally.
He already said earlier than the stomp into nunchucks is not guanranteed, but he's just doing to show max damage + it gives great oki if they do quick rise.
@marcanthonytiquia7115 yeah I was coming here to see if anyone else noticed lol. TMM knows it's not guaranteed and knows there is only one way to get out of it but if you people don't know, then it is 😅. Surprised RIP couldn't put that together that not everyone knows how to get up off the ground lol
The fact RIP is disagreeing with most of the video only proves that players HATE when other players say their character is anywhere remotely good💀 Like bro its OK if your character is S tier😂😂
I'm 2:45 in and he's not even accurately representing the frame data for the moves he's complaining about. All this proves to me is what I already knew which is TheMainMan is just kind of a jackass 😭
I think when you make the claim that a character is S-Tier we really do need to have a discssion about their tools. S-Tier carries a pretty heafty burden of proof about why this set of tools out classes everyone else's *as opposed* to just being really good ya know. Shutdown criticism by trying to claim "cope" is productive to no one at all.
False, it's the fact that people talk about characters they don't play, so they never point out any of the weaknesses... Law is strong but also extremely linear, and has a bunch of inconsistencies. Mainman literally made this exact same video saying Law was a hidden S tier in Tekken 7.... yet nobody ever wins anything with him
2:30 same with Bryan df2,1 into backsway. It says I'm +8 on hit!!! Backsway 1 is i16 (the backsway frames before the move comes out add to it, obviously), but if I'm hitting 1 immediately after doing df2,1,b I should have 8 extra frames to work with. Even if I'm 2 frames late I should still trade with i10 moves, but it doesn't. Even if I hit 1 at the first possible frame I can always, ALWAYS be jabbed out of it, when the game (and my logical understanding of frame data) tell me I should win.
drag, king, feng, nina, xiaoyu, jun, lili, alisa, reina, azucena, leo and jin feel like straight up stronger characters to me, law competing for top 15 with the likes of bryan, eddy, devil jin, hwo and lee. we'll see what happens post-patch but mainman always got the kneejerk reaction vids just an easy way to push out content.
They havent changed anything yet and your downplay vs launch grab was 'its not good because its getting patched'. Like, NO homeslice. Its getting patched BECAUSE its good.
the downplaying XD But when TMM makes a valid point, Rip still does admit that it's good so it's fair. Edit: After rewatch, 18:27 man the "just step it" just is not doing it. 50/50 mix-up where the low tracks you for good 35dmg+oki, but sure, just "step it cause it's linear".
@@stephenchoi2791 Why are you acting like this is not an easy to enter into mix-up for Law? This crouch mix-up has been around forever, and it's effective to this day. With that attitude, you can do it for any characater. "Why are you allowing a mishima to wavedash mix-up in your face"
@@padzman91 except i don't ssl into hopkick or just 1 jab or df1 check them, exact same concept, once they realise you dont respect, change timing. the difference is that kazuya's mixup works is due to wavedash covering much more distance aswell as having Ws2 launcher that tracks to discourage ss also his mixup all have similar range once they get into that range you have to respect. Law does not. Once you know the range of Law's ws move slide is much easier to predict. I do admit slide's track is wack, but thats not just Law thats Lee and Shaheen aswell
Ssr duck is to avoid 10/11 of his dss mixup which is honestly not that hard. YOU CAN EVEN SSR BEFORE WS4 INTO DSS TRANSITION EVEN CONNECTS if youre still getting hit you either dont know the timing and im willing to bet you still get caught by kazuya hellsweep loop. Atleast even if you do get caught you dont get launched by ff3 from kazuya The only option that would catch this is f2 which is a jab. Thats it.
the thing with law is that no one respects dss, they either try to mash it/powercrush or rageart and more than often it works. Even though dss is super easy to do, you still need the fundamental knowledge of all the moves to and from dss and how your opponent reacts to it.
Agree with Rip. I’m still playing DSS like in previous tekkens where most high level players will just SS right out of his options. I don’t use it as much as I should in T8.

TMM took nina into high ranks just spamming her stupid strings without even knowing the character, he backed it up by playing her himself and showing how easy it was to overwhelm people with her
Bro when ICFC starts? want to see you play in these tournaments. Just ling came back from the tekken 6 and some other players who never left. But saw Mr nap back to tekken 8 was cool.
this reminds me of that time years ago on the avoiding the puddle podcast and aris asked rip what he thought was laws weakest aspect and on his reply immediately called him an asshole because most characters would kill for a move like that. Top ten anime downplayers my dude, law is obnoxious in this game. You could say just step to practically single character But that all said Tmm is annoying with constantly making out that holding up out of combos is like some sort of secret tech that no body knows about.
Extra comment: DSS quote often loses also not just to jabs. This is nice extension but in no case is it guaranteed. It is not Azu level with LIB. If it was - I would have agreed...
It's wild how often I hear people (no hate to this guy in particular) argue that because the move in theory could be _even better_, that means the move is balanced or fair in its current state. TMM points out that the slide into nunchuck situation favours the law player because even on block, the jab float combo is scaled and causes only grey health damage. And the first thing this guys says is "but Law has no special way of healing it all back!
Yea, I have problem with me 112 punish into dragon stance and my forward 1 sometimes lose out to other moves... Same with forward 3 1 or 2 forgot the move but that supposedly gives you plus 4 if blocked but it loses to other shit at times... And yes, DSS is easier to go into but its not consistent... You still have to time it. And yes his DSS Can be SS easily but peoples never do. He still not as good as the other S tier character. But im pretty sure he will be in top 10 after the may 8 patch. But yes 8 to 10 is good placement for me too.
My guy said "just side step right and duck" 😂😂😂 then I guess that azucena's running 3 2 was fair as well, just side step left duck😂😂 That is the problem, when you main a character or you love him/her you will never say "wait that is wrong" I am a tekken king Alisa and I admit the chainsaw needs a nerf but the Law players would keep saying that he is not S tier even tho he is a perfect character.
Ummm, any slide thats further from distance of 2 is reactable from high intermediate skill level and hella punishable. Slide is difficult to react up close but you try get in close and do crouch fdf3 see how it works out.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Law's DSS is clunky. The execution for it has become easier however the moves that are used from it are still inconsistent at times.
unfortunately the next patch is already in the works...

I get bopped by pros all the time in a few groups im in and they all tell dont matter if you have homing moves to use. If ya cant hit me when i poke you to death or cant land a hit all of that goes in the trash. LITERALLY
unbelievable, this guy every time he gets demolished by a character in ranked he makes a youtube video in the following days to convince everyone how dumb that character is, he got demolished by a Law recently and now he makes a Law video, next he will get demolished by a Nina and he will make a "Nina is op" video and so on
If only the Themainmanswe didn't refer to "off the ground" as Masku tech people wouldn't get so confused. Un-techable ground spikes that have guaranteed damage follow ups is what tekken refers to it as, but otg doesn't exactly fit either, but I'd rather hear, "OTG is guaranteed" than masku tech (as if he invented otg's). In this case it's not guaranteed it's a reset/mixup for a chance for more damage. It's not "fake" as a tool by no means.
When he says to hold up to block the nunchucks, im assuming you hold up and as soon as your character is standing up, you hold back to block the next attack right?
@via_negativa6183 so you don't actually have to hold back at all then huh. How about if you want to get up block low, do you hold down back instead of holding back then pressing down back?
I have never seen malgu or double did ws+4 dss 3+4 at all in real matches against top korean or japanese players because it's not that easy and it's risky. Swiss dale is always on something if he can't beat that character. 😂
I’ve been using Law for years and Law is the best he’s ever been right now ( like most characters) I think his biggest buff is the numb chucks , but you know what? In tekken 7 , I always felt like he needed something like that and he finally got it. Also, Law is easier but that’s also GOOD because in tekken 7 , he was so hard to use that the majority of law players couldn’t even maximize his damage because he was simply TOO hard due to execution. Law was easy to use HARD to master so I’m glad hes easier now for new comers. Law also brings in a lot of players because he’s Bruce Lee. But there isnt anything that makes Law stand out amongst other characters though that other characters don’t have. Literally, LAW Is good but I’ve never thought he had any moves that are CHEESE. Examples: Jun’s heat special is CHEESE. It heals and has too much range. Devil Jin’s Heat special is CHEESE. KINGs whole character is CHEESE in T8. NINAS guns are CHEESE because of the chip damage. Victor is CHEESE. Just press TRIANGLE!!. Dragonuvs damage was CHEESE. Because it takes no execution and never did! Y’all want to know who the REAL dark horse is? ITS BRYAN FURY. he’s the new best character in the GAME
xactly, its what been saying. most of the youtube tekken pros complain about the "top 5" but in reality, 70% of the cast are BROKEN. each have their own gimmicks and we seeing it clearly in the current tournaments. The line up of people making it in the tourneys and everyone is playing a different character. The supposedly "top 5" characters are barely even making it in top 20.
He is in top 10 for sure tho.
it's different bc u can buffer a step into the moves that go into dss and counter the stance... ws4, 43 just buffer a step right into duck
lol when people say “Side step bro”,
like dude doesn’t have homing moves.

Well, Low is actully op and really easy to play too in Tekken 8. There is nothing with TMM hating or something.
rip needs to make a tierlist now so we can see what characters he thinks are better than law

As a law main, WS4 DSS is really easy right now but no one never talked about instant ws4
You can have a plethora of setting up WS4
But you need a visual cue and buffer DF enough to make law in crouching status.
The thing is you still needed his ws4 pressure to have a 50/50.
It can be jab interrupt and law is one of the most predictable characters sinfe every set up he does is from crouch to have a great pressure and 50/50
i could say he is A+
I can't say his S cause you'll never seen a situation from High level where the Opponent is on LOCK DOWN always from S tier characters.
@@Donalob literally that tracks a lot and thid game said SS is buffed
And it's only -7
Hella safe and low-key spammable
That's the thing rip...nunchucks track to his weak side.
RIP's arguments : step it
EWGF ? step it.
Hellsweep ? step it.
Heat smash ? step it.
Rage art ? step it.
As a pad player, the DSS execution requirement in tekken 7 limited my ability to use law, such as his ws4 mixups, which were near impossible to do on pad… now, his pressure tools are much more accessible. I do think the relative ease of execution makes him better now, for me personally.
I still remember the "unseeable low" law video 😂

I'm 2:45 in and he's not even accurately representing the frame data for the moves he's complaining about. All this proves to me is what I already knew which is TheMainMan is just kind of a jackass 😭
I think when you make the claim that a character is S-Tier we really do need to have a discssion about their tools.
S-Tier carries a pretty heafty burden of proof about why this set of tools out classes everyone else's *as opposed* to just being really good ya know.
Shutdown criticism by trying to claim "cope" is productive to no one at all.
Did you even listen to the misinformation Rip point out that mainman made? You think he just disagree without any basis? Lmao
False, it's the fact that people talk about characters they don't play, so they never point out any of the weaknesses... Law is strong but also extremely linear, and has a bunch of inconsistencies.
Mainman literally made this exact same video saying Law was a hidden S tier in Tekken 7.... yet nobody ever wins anything with him
Just like TMM saying Kaz is average when he’s really a downplayed S tier
You can only block the nunchuck IF the law doesn’t time it right. If they time it right while grounded it’s guaranteed.
Law is insanely strong tmm isn’t wrong at all
You're very good at downplaying RIP keep up the good work 👍
drag, king, feng, nina, xiaoyu, jun, lili, alisa, reina, azucena, leo and jin feel like straight up stronger characters to me, law competing for top 15 with the likes of bryan, eddy, devil jin, hwo and lee.
we'll see what happens post-patch but mainman always got the kneejerk reaction vids just an easy way to push out content.
They havent changed anything yet and your downplay vs launch grab was 'its not good because its getting patched'. Like, NO homeslice. Its getting patched BECAUSE its good.
the downplaying XD
But when TMM makes a valid point, Rip still does admit that it's good so it's fair.
Edit: After rewatch, 18:27 man the "just step it" just is not doing it. 50/50 mix-up where the low tracks you for good 35dmg+oki, but sure, just "step it cause it's linear".
Why are you letting a law crouch dash in your face for the slide to track?
Honestly I love how you disagree with things without shitting on TMM while being able speak on what’s actually good about Law. Might be my 2ndary now.
if you are arguing, ss right duck to avoid something. that move is really good because it makes defense harder.
ss right duck is basically a meme at this point. How was WW2 won? SSR duck. How do you avoid paying taxes? SSR duck.
Atleast even if you do get caught you dont get launched by ff3 from kazuya
The only option that would catch this is f2 which is a jab. Thats it.
the thing with law is that no one respects dss, they either try to mash it/powercrush or rageart and more than often it works. Even though dss is super easy to do, you still need the fundamental knowledge of all the moves to and from dss and how your opponent reacts to it.
Me when im in downplaying competition and my opponent is rip
The question is: Why did they allow Law, Nina, etc to keep weapons throughout the whole match, but only allow Leroy to use his weapon once?
Agree with Rip. I’m still playing DSS like in previous tekkens where most high level players will just SS right out of his options. I don’t use it as much as I should in T8.

The Down play is crazy 🤣
this reminds me of that time years ago on the avoiding the puddle podcast and aris asked rip what he thought was laws weakest aspect and on his reply immediately called him an asshole because most characters would kill for a move like that.
For whoever said ppl don't know up is faster than back, THE GAME DOESN'T TELL YOU!!! Lmao acting like it's taught in the tutorial
Also agree DSS is harder than before from a consistency perspective
Yea, I have problem with me 112 punish into dragon stance and my forward 1 sometimes lose out to other moves... Same with forward 3 1 or 2 forgot the move but that supposedly gives you plus 4 if blocked but it loses to other shit at times... And yes, DSS is easier to go into but its not consistent... You still have to time it. And yes his DSS Can be SS easily but peoples never do. He still not as good as the other S tier character. But im pretty sure he will be in top 10 after the may 8 patch. But yes 8 to 10 is good placement for me too.
Oh no, I have to input one extra direction to launch from a grab, my character is so trash.
My guy said "just side step right and duck" 😂😂😂 then I guess that azucena's running 3 2 was fair as well, just side step left duck😂😂
That is the problem, when you main a character or you love him/her you will never say "wait that is wrong"
I am a tekken king Alisa and I admit the chainsaw needs a nerf but the Law players would keep saying that he is not S tier even tho he is a perfect character.
The difference is that Azucena is a wr move so it realigns with fff input
Dss does not
So this comparison doesnt really make sense imo
Thanks for this commentary! Would you consider playing against or coaching Ninjaklla212's law?
Ummm, any slide thats further from distance of 2 is reactable from high intermediate skill level and hella punishable. Slide is difficult to react up close but you try get in close and do crouch fdf3 see how it works out.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, Law's DSS is clunky. The execution for it has become easier however the moves that are used from it are still inconsistent at times.
Law Lilly and Feng got away 😂😂
unfortunately the next patch is already in the works...
In basics if you use law correctly hes strong but if you dont kiss your health bar goodbye. I main law so i know this. Yes he has homing moves but when in cqc its hard to those things when poking is a factor. I get bopped by pros all the time in a few groups im in and they all tell dont matter if you have homing moves to use.

He has been saying law (and nina btw) are s tier for a long time
If only the Themainmanswe didn't refer to "off the ground" as Masku tech people wouldn't get so confused.
When he says to hold up to block the nunchucks, im assuming you hold up and as soon as your character is standing up, you hold back to block the next attack right?
you hold up into block then you punish him, he's super punishable there, don't just hold back and do nothing
If you hold up off the ground neutral block kicks in in these situations so you punish.
@via_negativa6183 so you don't actually have to hold back at all then huh. How about if you want to get up block low, do you hold down back instead of holding back then pressing down back?

Law needs a low CH launcher, and then he will be OP.

NINAS guns are CHEESE because of the chip damage.
Victor is CHEESE. Just press TRIANGLE!!.
