Kill la Kill (That's the name of the anime Ryuko is from) Is an underrated anime IMO. If you can look past the gratuitous fan service its a legit wholesome story with awesome characters. Especially its two leading ladies! Its basically Dragon Ball Z but with chicks in bikinis, and like you saw in that one frame. They do not just show half naked women. There are A LOT of half naked dudes. In fact there's a whole faction of Nudist Warriors (Mostly dudes.) who prefer being naked, and believe all forms of clothing are humanity's oppressors. I am not making that up. It's an insane trip of a show highly recommend it lol.

I wouldnt say it's gratuitous. The fan service is the main focus of the show, because it _actually_ has something to say about it.

to give some extra lore the death battle crew missed. shadow and the lizard (biolizard) prototype are based off of murals gerald robotnik saw when he investigated angel island. you can actually see these murals both in sonic 3 with a mural of super sonic fighting eggman and sonic adventure 1 with a mural of perfect chaos. so shadow was gerald's attempt at creating super sonic and the biolizard was his attempt at creating his own version of perfect chaos
If you guys read WarnerBros9000 comment, just a heads up that this actually is not true.
That is a theory. The mural appears in the classic 2D games. It has never appeared or been brought up again for the 3-D games that otherwise restructure the portrayal of the franchise world.
There is the possibility that is true, and an upcoming game has DLC that has people suspecting they may cave in to the fan theory and make it true though.
kill la kill was made by studio Trigger the same one that made the Cyberpunk Edgerunner anime

@DefinitelyNotDefinitive2 KLK is very heavy on the anime isms and is very perverted. So not sure if that would be to your liking. It's still a humorously fun series with great characters.

Shadow is not a edgy lord. He's a tragic hero who swore to protect the world his friend cherish so much.
I mean those don't excluding someone from being an edge lord. They are kind of defined by excessive brooding and tragic backstories and that's pretty much his character.

@@reizophoenix8275 Gonna be honest I tried hard to forget that story, but 06' was pretty much the weirdest Sonic story out there and every other game he's in he act just like an edge lord. 90% of his stories is, "I have to destroy the world/work with the bad guy and be aloof" "oh wait I was wrong now I need to sacrifice myself and be aloof."
@@dagonofthedepths There was only one game where he teamed up with the bad guy knowing it was a bad thing, in his own game, he only worked with Black Doom because he still hadn't recovered his memories and Black Doom was the only person who claimed to know anything about who he was... but Shadow still killed him in the end after realising his plan to use humanity as a fuel for his army.

@@lukasruston8618 I didn't say he did that knowingly. I'm saying his plotline and character development is basically the same every game he's in. I mean Sonic in general doesn't really change much which is my point. Even Sonic Boom has pretty much the same plot beats as Sonic and Knuckles.
But regardless brooding, being insanely powerful and having a tragic backstory is what makes him an edge lord. Doesn't make him a bad character, it's just kind of what he is.
One thing is certain in the DEATH BATTLES Shadow is in, he hates the word Sayonara.
Too bad Ryuko said it BEFORE his Super form could expire.
Kill la Kill is such a fever dream. I love that show but I know it's one of those things I will never be able to explain to another human who has not seen it. They do a good job of starting and ending the whole series in 25 episodes too.

This honestly had everything I wanted from a Shadow Death Battle. This and the Shadow vs Vegeta one are honestly some of my favorite battles to this day.

So I did some digging to give a better idea of how much stronger Shadow is compared to Ryuko, other than just “A lot”
The number they had for Shadow(with all 7 Chaos Emeralds) was 2,821 Zettatons. For Ryuko, they had her sitting at 658.72 Exatons
1 Zettaton = 1,000 Exatons
So, 2,821,000 exatons / 658.72 exatons means Super Shadow was around 4,282 times stronger than the best feat they had for Ryuko.
Just in case you were curious
They actually lowballed Shadow to make it a fair fight. One of the death battle researchers recently revealed that Sonic characters are scaled a lot higher than this and is planning on showing it during Bowser vs Eggman for the next season.
Well, Death Battle is back.
And apparently their Kickstarter FAR EXCEEDED their goal and they already have some episodes planned.

Kill La Kill is amazing. Also, I think this was Studio Trigger's first animated series and really it's a worthy start to a studio that will go on to make shows like Darling in the Franxx, Delicious in Dungeon, Little Witch Academia, and Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
I think Gurren Lagan came before Kill La Kill... anyways, point stands that it's an awesome studio that makes great series 🤩
@@robertolanzone... I think Gurren Lagann came afterwards. I definitely don't remember it being around as long, & I definitely hear people talk about Kill La Kill a lot more frequently than Gurren Lagann.

Edit: also, I was wrong in that Gurren Lagann was actually studio Gainax, but the creators of Gurren Lagann went on to found studio Trigger, and like OP said Kill La Kill was the first show entirely produced by studio Trigger

I respectfully disagree, both characters were sadly disrespected in their own way in my opinion. Ryuko was disrespected by being wasted as fodder, and Shadow was disrespected because this battle was so unfair that its really more of a pity win than anything. Bad times all around

That being said, the standard pistol is probably the most mediocre firearm in his arsenal. From RPGs, to alien blasters, to miniguns, to a vacuum gun modeled after the giant egg.

Kill la Kill is another ridiculously over the top Studio Trigger anime, with a lot of deep messages in it right from the heart. Well worth the watch.

It’s satisfying to see a sonic character actually went for a change. They hype up how strong these characters can be, but despite all of their amazing accomplishments compared to other characters, even less impressive than them, they generally have sonic characters lose. I think that is actually a reflection of people generally dogging on the sonic franchise. Which is a shame, considering the franchise is actually relatively cool.

She belongs to the strongest franchise in anime with their base abilities giving them immeasurable speed. & my power scaling playlist has all the proof we need, my essay playlist also proves it has the best written characters in anime especially in the girl aspect.(which some shonen struggle cough* Naruto) Like generic anime channel’s shirou vid, it’s billion& & ufotable come together to give us peak animation of any year they drop or period. It’s also the lotr of anime with lore on lore & galore.
I can say that this battle in my opinion is very difficult to pick when I first time watching it, as I was a teenager when I watched Kill La Kill, and I was a fan of Shadow during the GameCube era with Shadow The Hedgehog video game. Both characters was amazing at what they provided and share eggy backgrounds are truly a masterpiece for both to face off 😄 So I can’t wait if there be a new DB with Shadow again since DB is coming back with a strong upcoming of new music to fights to witness. My guess if shadow comes back, he might be coming after the Third Sonic movie if possible. 🤔 But we have to wait and see till it comes

Oh God, this one upsets me a lot. Like, nevermind how tragic it is that they wasted Ryuko, think of how Shadow finally got a win...because of pity. Like, he's a SONIC character, and by now, you should know full well how broken they can get. So not only was this awesome character used as mere fodder for Shadow, but Shadow's only win was a pity win, so can we REALLY call it a win?
As someone who likes shadow and can respect ryuko despite never watching her series, this battle sucked for literally every character involved :(

Even though it doesn't matter. Shadow should have won those two fights, but again it doesn't matter. Hopefully he comes back a fourth time since Generations Remaster gave him new powers and hopefully he fights against Vincent Valentine.

Ryuko Matoi is the heroine of the story. She is the daughter of the scientist Isshin Matoi and was sent to boarding schools at various elementary, middle and high schools when she was a child. She is usually comfortably dressed, has blue eyes and black hair, with her trademark being a red streak in the forehead area, and carries a guitar case with her scissor blade in it. After meeting Senketsu, she usually carries it and her scissor blade reduced to a manageable size. At night she wears rabbit-patterned pajamas that Mako lent her.
Mako is best wing-woman in this story.
