  • The African Penguin colony at Stony Point Nature Reserve is just over an hour's drive from Cape Town (take the R44). The scenery and the views alone are well worth the trip!
    There is a nice boardwalk on the rocky peninsula from where you have a great view.
    This is one of 2 mainland-based penguin colonies. African penguins are also called jackass penguins because they make donkey-like braying sounds to communicate. Did you know they are monogamous and share parenting duties? These birds are extremely adorable and funny at the same time!
