@@josegabrielsiao4530 that’s how we grow :) I had an idea the other day about doing a “Keychron K3/K7 three years later” video with new sound tests and just my general thoughts. Is that something that would be interesting?
I agree. MOST companies will just send a replacement or a refund. That is NOT how Keychron chooses to do business. They have simply ignored me after I demanded a refund. (After all, they DO have my money.) People need to be aware of how a company behaves, not just about the products they make.

I've got the K3 and the K5. I love the browns, but they're just a tad too light, so I bought the mints. The mints feel a bit too heavy, but better. It's hard to like the early tactility on these though. It feels good when just playing with the bare switch between the fingers, but after inserted and typing they seems too early. Too early as in: like it's not even there. It's more like a heavy lineair. I played around with my switches and put the spring of the mint into a brown switch, making it a regular heavy tactile. This felt so much better. Too bad keychron isn't making these instead of the mints. I kinda hope they will someday (63 grams would be amazing), and hopefully make the tactility slightly stronger too, that would make them the perfect switch. For now I'm back with the browns. I did lube them this time, which is certainly worth it.
Hi Brokko. Nice of you to stop by. That's actually a clever idea :D Glad you found something that works for you. I use the bananas as my daily driver now :D
Truth is low profiles just needs some diversification from the generic MX lineup like *some* MX based switches have been getting recently. In other words: more variety.
OMG. Thank you so much for the explanation. I am really new in this mechanical keyboard. I have K3 Red and the amount of typo that I have is insane, now I know why. I am planning to buy brown switches soon. Cheers!
Maybe having click and thock sounds played at real speed but aligned to the slow motion video would solve the problem of low sound frequency when slowing down the video?
I would probably have to go with linear red, but I'm writing this on the NuPhy Air60 HE (magnetic jade) and I have to say, it thocks so good it makes those linear reds sound like a thack. My only regrets are that it's a 60 instead of a 75, and it's wired to one device. Outside of that it's be bestest keyboard ever.
I’d love to test the Air series. For gaming, I guess 60% works well. I usually need my arrows at least. I don’t use the F-row much so ‘m fine without those. I’ll reach out to Nuphy and see if we can get something going :)
Good video and nice thorough breakdown. I love low profile mechanical keyboards when typing all day long. I actually use the NuPhy Air with red switches and really enjoy typing on it.
I have the K3 v1 which sadly does not have the metal plate. One simple mod I did was to cut up the included thin packing foam and put it inside the K3. That definitely improved the sound by quite a bit (solid wooden table top). I have the first run optical Brown switches, will try out the Brown sensor mod next
As a programmer, banana and brown are perfect for me. Brown feel lighter than banana. So i combine these two. Brown for my weak pinky finger (usually for type a, q, tabs, caps, p, ;, and so on), and banana for the rest.
Heard so many bad reports on Keychron for replacements or faults or just plain not working out of the box properly. Also heard about connection issues over Bluetooth. I sure do like the look of their keyboards though. As a low profile fanatic I was tempted by the K1V4. Reading more comments here again leave me thinking 'avoid'. Going to stick with my trusty Logitech G815. Sounds great, feels great and looks pretty good and has been good for years.... just hate the Logitech software.... (tip: set your keyboard up,,,, write to the hardware, then uninstall the junk... you will loose all the macro functionality though). Thanks for the vid. I think if I was to choose a K1 it would be with the brown switches!
I’ve only had the K3 and the K7 low profile and haven’t had any issues. I’ve heard people complain and some had a hard time with customer service. Never been in touch with them myself 🤷🏼♂️
Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time to put it together. One question: what keyboard and switches would you recommend for the quietest experience? Thanks.
For this specific keyboard? That would be linears. But for any keyboard, there are other normal profile keyboards you can make much more quiet. I have tried some black and red linear silents where there is a tiny dampening at the bottom of the stem. These are amazing. With some additional lube it should do wonders. A lot of the sound also comes from smashing the keys so paired with some good switches, actually calming down while typing helps a heap :D If you want something completely different, the Apple Magic Keyboard is pretty silent as well.
Great timing on the video - I've got a K3 and barely use it because I thought I'd like white switches but I can barely breathe without registering a key press. I think brown or mint might be the way to go.
Ive got a K7 with banana switches and really like them, it was a bit to get used to, and I think I would try the mint switches because a little extra force would be nice. These keys actuate if you breathe on them heavy.
you might want to go with a different brand altogether. The Keychron's have a 1.1mm actuation point which is going to feel very sensitive to type on no matter what.. Good for gaming but will cause a lot of inaccurate typing.
Amazing review, thank you very much for this. I have a deathstalker v2 pro tkl and I was so happy to find out -from reddit- that you can change the switches to these keychron ones. The default optical reds from razer are heavily dampened leading to a mushy feeling (especially for someone coming from years on the Logitech G915 tkl red which had no dampening at all) The switches on that keyboard were much cheaper feeling though, so the razer feels much more premium even when it's stock. Planning to get reds first + the switches trial board and then deciding one what else to get after (if I don't like the reds)
@@erikwihlborg9896 Bought the bananas, browns and mints. I like the bananas best, because I'm a heavy user and type quite frequently for different scenarios. The feel on the mints were IMO better than the browns, but too heavy to type on all day. Can't go wrong with either way, I think. You bought some already as well? :)
Wonderful video... I see you have a MacBook and I am looking for the keys that would simulate the most typing on a Macbook. I must work in a office on a PC recently and I hate their big keyboard... I want the same feel as typing on a Macbook (same model as yours). Which keys would be the best do you think?
Hmm. That's a tough one. There is some tactility in the Apple Magic Keyboard. I would say Brown or Banana are closest to the Magic Keyboard experience. It will feel a bit heavier/requires a bit more force and makes more noise, but it gets close.
Great video man! I have the Red and Banana switches, both great for my preference, looking forward to the orange switches soon. one question is it worth to replace banana with mint? im good with banana, but just curious and wanna try heavier switches, how big different on forces between them?
Hi Kahfi. I’m glad you like the video. I like to have all the switches because I like to experiment. If you’re happy with the banana already and you type a lot, I wouldn’t bother with the mint tbh. The difference isn’t that great :)
Really superb video with high production quality. I recently purchased a banana switch after watching your videos. I transitioned from Gateron brown switch so I’m also curious to see the difference with the mint. Would you say there is a significant difference with the banana vs mint or is the difference minute?
I currently have the reds, because I wanted linear instead of my previous Romer-G (brown-ish) switches from my Logitech G810. Turns out it's REALLY annoying when you rest your fingers and you suddenly start typing :( Anyway, I'm leaning towards black, because I still very much like linear.

Than you! Your guide to switches helped me a lot! Now I'm sure to pick red ones for my "first" mechanical keyboard. Keyboards from nineties don't count )
I don't know if your microphone had an issue or something, but the mint and red switches sound very identical to each other. A colleague of mine has heard as well and has come with the same conclusion. Correct us if we are mistaken. How would you classify these switches from the loudest to the quietest or vice versa?
I would say most of the sound comes from the keys bottoming out rather than the inner mechanics. Therefore they might sound similar, but feel different. It can also be that I typed harder in some of the tests etc. But in general, I would say linears are most quiet, then tactile, early-tactile, and finally clicky.
I just had the white switches and browns. I opened them they have exactly the same springs but in specifications whites has 30gf while browns have 57gf. I doubt brown has the correct info when checking the springs. Also saw a video when browns and bananas are compared and have different springs but same specs in their website. Can you confirm? Thanks
I'll have to dig out the springs from various places. How did you compare the strenght of the springs? Did you just look at the length or were you able to measure the resistance?
Tactiles are often suggested for office work where you're not constantly typing. Clicky works well if you are writing a lot. Say you're writing articles or content of sorts. That doesn't really mean you can't use whatever you want whenever you want :D
I have a K3 and just bought my Wife a K5. We both work full time in front of a computer and type all day. Would you recommend a certain switch for the enter key, or space bar key for nice feedback?
Thanks for stopping by :) I think the bananas give great feedback all over. They are now my daily driver for the whole board. What switches are you using now?
I have a K15 pro alice keyboard, I want a shine throug keycaps that will fit my keybaord, I have not been able to find any at all? Are you able to help me please? Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it. a lot.
am i only the one who likes the lighter switch like white one??? i tried Keychron Low-profile Optical White (K3 v1) and it feels amazing for my finger rather than Cherry MX Red old mechanical one (Corsair Vengeance K65). Any chance also we see Purple Low-profile Optical switches ? (Keychron/gateron/Cherry MX)
I think people will find their preferences by trying them all. I think I might be a heavy rester so that’s peobably why I mistype all the time with the lighter ones :)
Hi Antonio. I don't remember if we talked about this in another video, but maxgaming.no sells nordic and I have a coworker who has the K3 with ANSI layout. Try to find a local reseller. It looks like keychron only sells ISO from their store.
They are pretty much the same. If anything, the white require less force, but in the end none of the linears require much force anyways. So I'd just go for the ones that fit your writing style. Are you a heavy or a light typer. I found that the whites were so light that I couldn't rest my fingers on the board, so that didn't work out for me. Then I thought reds were it, but in the end black switches fit me best. It's really hard to just get one and nail it. It took me a lot of trial and error to find the ones that were right for me.
@@MartinAaberge I'd say I'm somewhere in the middle, not heavy but not light. Black or red might suit me better of the three so I'll start there and might even end up with the tactile browns if I find I'm getting too many errors using the linears.
Hello, I currently have the redragon red low profile swtiches, but it bothers me that at certain moments when I am writing a wrong key is pressed because of how sensitive it is, even in some games just when you run your finger through the key the power was pressed and brought me problems, with noise issues I love it but because of the sensitive it does not convince me, Which one do you recommend that I'm not so sensitive or have those problems when writing or playing? Thank you for the video
Hey Martin, to Sumo Hung's point below, would you say some of the optical switches come close to a Gateron brown mechanical switch as feel/thok? In theory I am on the fence between the mints and Gateron browns. Thanks!
I honestly haven’t tried the gaterons. Why don’t you get both ;) I prefer mints over the browns these days, both optical. I actually rock bananas daily, but I used to love brown
@@MartinAaberge thanks Martin, unfortunately not a hot swap between the switch brands, hence was trying my luck to get a feel on the difference. Nice vid btw!
@@sorinpopescu632 if you are looking for a more mechanical feel, then I guess Gateron is the way to go. The bumps on the browns, bananas, and mints on the opticals are quite nice though
Do you know if the mint switches can be used for the K3 Pro as well? On the website, the compatibility only mentions K3 but not sure if that's intended.
What is GF ? force need to keep the button at bottom ? I can use some tactile but I need the least amount of force need to keep the button on bottom ( wasd and ctrl for gaming purpose) is red switch suit me ?
grams. It is the force required to push the key down. Whites are the absolute lightest, but I find that I misclick it because it is too light. Red is probably a good middle ground for you for gaming. These are both linear though, brown would give you that tactile bump, but they are much heavier, 57gf. You can consider the clicky blue which are 48gf vs. red’s 40. They are clicky though and make some noise.
@@MartinAaberge They have special silent switches just not on a ready keyboard as far as I know. None of these is silent and much as silent cherry read.
Now i understand why i like the brown switches for day to day writing. Considering the wrist angle, would you say you have less wrist strain when using low profile keyboard? And another quesion, which switches gave you the most "meditative" feeling?
I also like the blue ones if I’m writing for a whole day. I came from an Apple magic keyboard so low profile is high profile to me 😂 I’m bulding a KBDFANS D65. That will be taller. Maybe I will experience more wrist pain then. Most meditative feeling…. Hmmm, I guess that would actually be brown :)
If you have reds now and they work for you, there is no need to get black. Black is just a tad heavier. Brown however has a completely different feel to it.
I'm actually going on keychron keyboard number two! A K7 for my iPad and a K5 se for my PC. I gave the k4 a test but in not a fan of how deep the press is for the switches. I love the low profile gateron browns. Something about them leaves me looking for a reason to type. Btw what type of typing test are you using?
Hey :) I‘m actually a laptop user, which is why I only like low profile keyboards. I’m trying to find the perfect switch for me since I’m a programmer and also game - I like feeling feedback but I don’t like sounds. Any recommendations? 😅
I think you should look into the tactiles. I use bananas all day every day now, but browns are also good. A bit more noise than linear, but way better feel for the tactility :)
I just got my board with the red switches and I love it!!! So far my only gripe about the board is finding replacement keycaps. Any suggestions? Primarily looking for white or black shine through (legends are lit)
I’m glad you like it. Make sure you watch my Matcha keycap videos. Replacement keys will be a pain…. I did see that Keychron has some nice vintage Apple ones, but those aren’t low profile.
Is there a key type that produces the “thocc” sound or is closest to it? On my K3 Optical with brown switches I don’t notice it except for the enter key. The enter key produces the most satisfying sound. Now if I can just recreate that with the rest or make them all even better would be ideal.
I also have the same question. How is the tacticle bump on the opticals? I tried some low profile reds and between the low travel time and lack of feedback I wanted nothing to do with them (using regular cherry blues and silent reds atm).
I’m working on a video that might help with the thocciness. As that sound often requires some really good setups from the factory or modding, these low profile keyboards have non of that.
Low profile will always have this issue. I find the tactile bump on the brown, banana and mint to be responsive and well, tactile. Nothing close to normal profile ones. I agree that the low profile linear switches are a bit hard to get familiar with. For low profile, I tend to stay away from linears
@@MartinAaberge Thank you! I might try some of these others, the mint or banana, when I get a chance. Your videos are great, thanks for the time and effort!
You have to check the shift, enter, etc. cause Keychron has proprietary layouts on those. Check out my other vid where I try to put some Matcha keycaps on and fail. ua-cam.com/video/6hg0_xHfWOk/v-deo.htmlsi=LlCJGKOsSgKmQvla
Hi there Martin! Congrats and thank you for the video! I just recently got my K3 with the red switches. It is my first mechanical keyboard and am still adjusting. But I'm finding it hard to adjust to the red switch. Do you really think there is a difference in typing experience between the red and brown? I'm considering changing to a Gateron switch as well, any experience on those? Thank you!
Red and brown are miles apart in feel. I don’t have experience with the gaterons, only the optical. I hear lots of people ask about the gaterons lately. Maybe I need to give them a go…🤔
@@MartinAaberge During weekend I actually had some time to get myself used to the optical switches. Not finding them that bad anymore. I guess more than the switches I was used to a regular keyboard, not a low-profile one. Maybe I'll order the brown switches to see what I like more. But am enjoying the red ones. I have light hands, worried that the 57 push force of the brown would make me tired
@@marcelowcr that’s great :) I’d order some brown ones just to test if I were you anyways. You never know what you like until you’ve tried it. I swap switches all the time :)
Thanks for everything Martin! I spent 1 hour reading the comments on two of your videos and finally chose the browns, since you know how to sell them so well and you love them so much! :) :) I trust you :) Question by the way, I have a MX Master from logitech to code, but I don't like it, I'm more comfortable with the Logi K380 because it's more compact. Do you think the K3 with the brown keys would be a good coder keyboard considering I don't like the MX? Or would you have something else to advise me? Thanks a lot! (trad with deepl, désolé pour les fautes!!)
I just wanted to say I read your comment :) so you don’t think I’m ignoring you here. I’ll look a bit more into the keyboard you mention and give you my take on it :)
The sentence you said about banana and mint was so confusing. Please hear it again and also clarify ( with punctuation if possible) which ones are meant for what. Other than that, decent video.
I just saw this video and I am wondering what type of switch should I replace my red optical switch for my K3 the red is a bit sensitive, is the black better than red? I don't type alot but when I do at some point I need to rest my fingers in to the keys and by accident I press them even though it is not bottoming out. I still want the linear though not the tactile ones. Thanks! in advance!
If you want linears, black is your last option. White is extremely light, I tried red for a while, and also experienced some mistyping. Black works better, but I did experience SOME mistyping there as well. Bananas are my daily drivers, but they are indeed tactile. Get the black switches and take em for a spin :D
@@MartinAaberge Great thanks a lot! I'll give it a go according to keychron website the black is a bit heavy to press so hopefully it's not as bad to mistype like the red, and if I'm not happy about it I might get the brown again lol I'm used to brown anyway. But I will give black a try. Thanks!
According to their site it says: “Hot-swappable feature is available for low profile Keychron Optical switch version only.” So I would ask them to confirm before getting both sets :)
My bro bought the K3 with bananas and he noticed a good amount of the switches squeak which I have never heard in any regular MX style switches. Have you experienced that with any of these? I'd imagine some lube would fix it, but he couldn't be fucked to do that. Also about how loud would you say the blues are?
I've never thought about any squeeking. I have not lubed mine. These are more work to lube than normal switches I would assume. The blues are relatively loud. WAY less than regular clicky, but still. In this short I compare the two: ua-cam.com/users/shortsc64IKb4nwKw
most of these switches sound quite similar. It is morea about how the keys bottom out and the force applied by the fingers. Between the linears and tactiles, the feeling is VERY different, but they do sound similar. The clicky ones are the ones that sounds really different.
I like how he left the clickies for the last and don’t really talk much about it because he doesn’t like clickies at all but still has to talk about it for the sake of it~
I actually like the clickies :D The reason I usually do them at the end it because it feels natural to go from linears which are silent to the noisier ones via tactile.
Hi! I'm Italian, I would buy and use the K3 for my ipad air 4th generation so I would like take with me this keyboard to library. You say can It be okay?
Yes, the nature of the clicky switch gives you a noticable click, while the tactile brown has more of a bump. Both are great, but I would call the browns a bit softer to type on.
Can anybody tell me why is it that with optical black switches on K3 i miss click a lot and a better option for the k3. Should i buy a non low profile keyboard instead and get blues or red
That is a bit strange since the blacks are the heaviest ones. Maybe you need even heavier switches. When you say mis-click, do you mean that you click keys just by resting your hands or is it more a general thing. Because the keys are laid out slightly tighter than on an Apple Magic keyboard f.ex. If you’re brand new to they layout, you might need a few weeks to adjust as well. Happy typing!
@@MartinAaberge Thanks for the response my man. Yeah so I think the keys are sensitive so I'll hit say one key and I will register the one also beside it. I heard it has to do with it being low profile on top of it being optical black.
@@MartinAaberge You think that would make it slow down? Don't you think it would show up in more searches if people looked for "switches"? I guess I don't know how it works.
Hello Martin! What switches would you say are closest matching the typing experince of a MacBook (or stand alone Apple) keyboard? I'd love to get a backlit keyboard that is somewhat similar to what Apple sells themselves. I understand this keyboard likely isn't 100% a match to that, but would you say the feel is similar with any of the different switches available? To add on to this comment; I think I prefer the keyboard on my 15" MacBook Pro from 2012 rather than the one on my 16" MacBook Pro from 2021. No clue if you've experienced typing on both of those different types of keyboards. I honestly don't even know if there actually is something different between Apple's "old" scissor switches from before they introduced the butterfly versions (that were terrible), and the ones they've been using since scrapping the butterfly ones.
Hi Gustaf. I had both the keyboards you mention. I have a 2012 MBP, a 2019 MBP and I’ve had both the standalone Apple keyboard and the Apple Magic keyboard. With this keyboard, I think the closest you will get to this experience is either brown or banana. The difference between the two is normal and early bump, banana having an early bump. I would get both. I love the brown, but I have used the bananas for a month or so and now I have a blue run 😂 but yeah, get the browns or bananas.
@@MartinAaberge Hey Martin thanks for the in depth video. Can I ask if you make more typing mistakes with Browns than with the Bananas? Do the latter help improve your typing speed as well, in your case you think?
@@Pamven I would say the bananas are the most accurate tbh. I haven’t thought about it too much, but they don’t go off by accident. I’d say the bananas are a very good choice at least :D
very helpful video, can you clarify how the operating force and reset point influences the typing experience for the mint/banana and red? also can you share a link or the name of the palm rest? thank you
Hi Adir. Thanks for stopping by! Red is lighter and in my experience you can’t rest your fingers much before you mis-click. Bananas allow you to rest and the feedback is of course more… tactile. So a bit more resistance on the bananas, and less mis-clicks. Palm rest: www.keychron.com/products/keychron-keyboard-wooden-palm-rest?variant=32364078989401 Make sure to select the correct option ;)

Tough choice. I think I would but one of the tactiles in there at least. You will experience more travel and more noise than on a magic keyboard, but the tactility of the bananas and mints I feel slightly mimic the magic keyboard as they have an early bump tactile fee.

Would be interesting if there was a way to convey the feeling of each switch. Maybe with slow motion plus sound in a separate video?
That’s a good idea :) I’ll see if something like that is possible :)
Great mod. You should also get a desk mat. It makes a HUGE difference!
wait what? i thought it was there to protect the keyboard, thats so smart!
Thank you for ur video. It so helpful for me to choose which switch. Finally I bought the Brown switch keyboard and the Banana and Blue Switches. :)
You’re welcome. Excellent choice!
How would you compare banana and brown?
@@GabrielJustus In my opinion, I prefer brown, it’s better for typing, lighter typing sound and less pressure than banana.
@@姚炯清 thanks! I'm sticking with brown then 😁
@@姚炯清 how tactile would you describe the bananas vs. the browns and vs. a familiar notebook keyboard like on the MacBook?
As a programmer, banana and brown are perfect for me. Brown feel lighter than banana. So i combine these two. Brown for my weak pinky finger (usually for type a, q, tabs, caps, p, ;, and so on), and banana for the rest.
Mixing the switches like that is actually a clever idea :D
Great job. I made my choice. Thank you.
Awesome :)
@@MartinAaberge thank you. Extremely helpful.
You’re very welcome :) let me know if there are any other videos you’d like to see.
Great timing on the video - I've got a K3 and barely use it because I thought I'd like white switches but I can barely breathe without registering a key press. I think brown or mint might be the way to go.
Whites are useless, but brown and mints will get you a nice tying experience :)
@@MartinAaberge Why not blue? Isn't that the most suitable for typing?
@@fz7694 blue are also great for typing :)
Ive got a K7 with banana switches and really like them, it was a bit to get used to, and I think I would try the mint switches because a little extra force would be nice. These keys actuate if you breathe on them heavy.
I was going to them do still like them. They sound nice to me
Go for it. Mints are also very nice :D
you might want to go with a different brand altogether.
The default optical reds from razer are heavily dampened leading to a mushy feeling (especially for someone coming from years on the Logitech G915 tkl red which had no dampening at all)
The switches on that keyboard were much cheaper feeling though, so the razer feels much more premium even when it's stock.
Planning to get reds first + the switches trial board and then deciding one what else to get after (if I don't like the reds)
Also coming from a g915. It's a quite cheapish but great feel! I can't decide on bananas or browns. Which did you try?
It will feel a bit heavier/requires a bit more force and makes more noise, but it gets close.
i have the k7 pro with brown switches but ordered some banana switches to try out
How do you like them?
Thank You :) play around with the bananas. The difference is barely noticeable:) mint is a bit heavier
I currently have the reds, because I wanted linear instead of my previous Romer-G (brown-ish) switches from my Logitech G810. Turns out it's REALLY annoying when you rest your fingers and you suddenly start typing :(
Anyway, I'm leaning towards black, because I still very much like linear.
Yeah. Then black is tour best bet :)
I wan to try browns all around with reds on WASD
good informative video. thank you
Thank you :) Glad it was helpful!
thanks, k7 was great with nice distance between key. anyway what is your mouse with that gold scroll wheel?
Thanks for stopping by. The mouse with the golden/orange wheel is the Steelseries KANA (affiliate link: amzn.to/3Lxklee) Unfortunately not being produced anymore. The Steelseries Rival is close in look and feel (affiliate link: amzn.to/3L7Ztsu)
Than you! Your guide to switches helped me a lot! Now I'm sure to pick red ones for my "first" mechanical keyboard. Keyboards from nineties don't count )
That’s great :) I hope you like them
Amazing review, thnks for video :D
You’re welcome. Thanks for stopping by :)
But in general, I would say linears are most quiet, then tactile, early-tactile, and finally clicky.
are there any optical switches available to buy? on the official web size of keychrone there are only black available
I have browns on my full profile keyboard and i like them. But the low profile browns on the K3 feel off. I ordered some banana switches to try.
I love the bananas. I like the early tactile feel. Low profile will never be as nice feeling as full size
@@MartinAaberge that's what I thought too
I just had the white switches and browns.
@@MartinAaberge hi yes the springs are identical for the browns and whites and idk why

One suggestion.
Keep the name of the switch on top of the video also while doing sound test.
@@akarshjain7141 thanks. Will keep that in mind moving forward 🙌🏼
"linear switches is suggested for gaming as well as typing" What is the use case for the rest of the switch types?
Hello Nice video. is there a eurropean keyboard with acents for keychron K3 pro low profiel?
Hi Antonio. I don't remember if we talked about this in another video, but maxgaming.no sells nordic and I have a coworker who has the K3 with ANSI layout. Try to find a local reseller. It looks like keychron only sells ISO from their store.
amazing video
Thank you! Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to watch my videos.
This is cool! Which one is the quietest for office use?
One of the linear ones. I would choose black because white and red are a bit light.
Awesome video. Which of the linears would you say are the quietest? I couldn't quite tell if one had an edge over the other.
I have the same issues as you do. I would look at the black switches to make sure the springs are a bit more resistant to your finger resting.
I’m not sure. I remember watching a video where it looked like Keychron is working on some new switches. I’d read the specs very carefully.
Why did u give away the orange? I was thinking about getting those instead of blue
I thought I was never going to use them again because they were too heavy, but I regret it :D
Are there any silent switches? I love my cherry red's but would prefer a lower profile keyboard. from keychron.
Yes. You have three silent switches - White, Red, and Black. White is lightest, Black is heaviest.
@@MartinAaberge They have special silent switches just not on a ready keyboard as far as I know. None of these is silent and much as silent cherry read.

I’ve used both for a long time and I think the banana is clearly superior :)
Thanks, Good Job

I probably like linear ones, so I'm thinking about red ones
Did you get them? How did they feel?
i dont know if i should get optical browns or optical blacks, i have reds right now and brown and black sound so similar
Hi James. Sorry for not seeing your comment sooner. Glad you found several setups that work for you :D I use monkeytype for the typetest.

I did see that Keychron has some nice vintage Apple ones, but those aren’t low profile.
thanks for this
Glad you like it :D

Thanks!
Dumb question (?) but what app are you using for the type tester, and does it have a trainer with it? Tks!
I’m using monkeytype :) don’t know if it has a trainer, but it’s really cool!
how can I find kaycaps for this kind of switch
If I a buy a K3 with hot-swappable keycron optical, can I also buy Gateron low profile switches or does that require soldering?
In this short I compare the two:
ua-cam.com/users/shortsc64IKb4nwKw
Is it me or do the reds and browns sound nearly identical in this vid?
most of these switches sound quite similar. It is morea about how the keys bottom out and the force applied by the fingers. Between the linears and tactiles, the feeling is VERY different, but they do sound similar. The clicky ones are the ones that sounds really different.

To add on to this comment;
I think I prefer the keyboard on my 15" MacBook Pro from 2012 rather than the one on my 16" MacBook Pro from 2021.

I'm thinking buying the K1 SE and seems that there is no palm rest for that exact type/measurements.
I'll decide what to do
Thanks again!
Hey would mint switch be ok for gaming? Because i kinda hate linears...
I think so. You might lose some of the instant register, but if you’re not at pro level where nanoseconds matter, you’d be fine :)

Which one is the most like an Apple Magic Keyboard?
Tough choice. I think I would but one of the tactiles in there at least. You will experience more travel and more noise than on a magic keyboard, but the tactility of the bananas and mints I feel slightly mimic the magic keyboard as they have an early bump tactile fee.
Great video, thanks! Im using the reds but dont like them so far, so will try the browns. Your video helped me! 👏
Awesome! Good luck with the browns :)
Much appreciated
@@AAkCN1 thx for stopping by :)
Do you reccomend the keychron vs nuphy air?
I don’t know. Tell Nuphy to send me one for review :)
Hello, thanks for the video.
I live outside the us . I really want banana switches but I can only find mint switches delivered to my country ( or wait 1 month for banana )
Do you think mints would be two heavy ? I’m a computer programmer and teacher ( so I’m usually writing as part of homework review )
I think that I’m the kind of person that types with tons of strength because I type fast and hard and was thinking maybe this will compensate mint heaviness .
Hi Hesus. I would say I’m more of a weak typist that prefer lighter switches in general. So if you normaly type hard anyway, you will probably havw no issues with the mints :)
Martin Aaberge hello . Thank you so much for answering to my question . The video is great . I ordered my mints and I’ll be sure to reply back in the futures .
Thanks . Good luck
Awesome :)
