Thanks to you I’ve decided to put my eye for the good stuff to good use and start my own resale business. I recently found an Otto Jarl Meissen polar bear worth $1,200 for just $6.50 at a local Goodwill, and I give you all the credit! Thanks for the daily inspiration and sharing your wealth of knowledge!
FYI: if you put a blanket into the bottom of your shopping cart, it will keep your treasures from moving around or sliding around in your cart. Helps prevent chipping or breaking while you shop.
I loved those cat trivets! They were awesome! I have cats in my kitchen! I lost my Poppa 21 years ago and I'd do anything to celebrate another Father's Day with him.
You look good in green! Yes, enjoy your dad while you have him! I lost my dad in 2013, I miss him still, so much! His funny stories about when he was growing up, he had such a great sense of humor! His words of advice ALWAYS came true, and I have stored them in my heart forever..💔
Like others have already pointed out, Gail Pittman is a pottery designer from Mississippi. Many of her pieces like the one you saw were sold through a company called Southern Living At Home. It was a direct sales company (think Longaberger or Princess House) but is now out of business. Her pieces are very collectible even the ones from this company. I know I keep my eye out for a certain cereal bowl that I broke and would like to replace. The piece you picked up had a separate pedestal that you could use as a pillar candle holder or to raise the dish. It was solid green. I have that set and it’s beautiful!
I’m from Mississippi, and I knew exactly what that was when she picked it up!!! I have one but it’s not in as good of condition as that one looked!!! Laurel, Ms
Great haul, Jocelyn! The wedding boxes were called that, because a piece of the wedding cake would be put inside for the bride and groom to take home, store in freezer?/fridge? and 'enjoy it' on your 1st anniversary. I don't think I'd want to eat a piece of cake stored away for a year...so that would put a damper on the celebration. 😂
Maybe the cake was like the UK’s wedding cake, which is a heavy fruit cake (dried fruits like raisins, sultanas etc). There’s also whisky added to help preserve it. The cake can be made months ahead and is regularly “fed” with more whisky to help preserve and mature the flavour. The top layer of the cake was kept (& still fed with whisky…) until the first child was born, and then the cake was eaten. Eating this after just one year wouldn’t be a problem.
I would have picked up the Fenton piece. Repurposing it with a floral arrangement or other items would be pretty! I get it, though. You have a lot of other inventory to choose to sell.
Absolutely! I like to use pieces like that with faux or real votives at the dinner table. Pretty colorful glass always makes a lovely light. It just makes everything seem calmer and more enjoyable - even if you are just eating your regular weekday meals. I also like to pop flowers in them too.
I love GW for the most part, my pet peeve however is when things are donated from yard sales, the prices from sale are left on the the piece, and then you see GW price is typically in Ohio anywhere from 3-5 dollars HIGHER than the marked yardsale price. also notorious for taking dollar tree items and marking them at 2-3 dollars for something that was new from 1,00 1.25,,,,
The What Not Weirdo Sale would be an Excellent idea! This girl figurine is really cool. Love the gentleman plates, Kaleidoscope💜🤗, the pig and the orange and black vintage holder
At the Good Will in my area the yard/garage sale prices are ALWAYS cheaper than the store. I go to yard sales in the summer/fall before I go to Good Will
I have a couple salt lamps & they only take a nightlight bulb, 4 watts, so they don’t even get warm. I’m not sure about them being a fire hazard, but maybe I need to check into it because I never turn them off. They are my ambient lighting source 😊 Great video as always! Thank you so very much!
Thank you for the warning about the salt lamps. I did not know that they are a fire Hazzard. I was going to get myself one, but not anymore. All I ever heard was about a lady put in her dishwasher because it was covered in dust. And you can guess what happened when you mix salt and hot water. The entire salt had melted. 😂
That's probably how lids get broken. Person picking it up doesn't realize that's a lid it's sitting on, and it flies off the table or dresser. I like that wedding box.
The shoes and little purses are a thing. They are called “Just the Right Shoe” collectibles. There are hundreds of designs. Some more valuable than others.

I found a compote without a lid, 3 weeks later I found the lid at the same location. Maybe they were separated in processing and I had already bought the compote when they found the lid. I am just glad they decided to put the lid on the shelf.
I bought 2 beautiful lamps a week apart at a local thrift shop. But I think she put it back because it is not super valuable anyway. She has some really nice things in her inventory ❤❤
Love watching the cool things you find!! You are an amazing person and a great mom!! Your dad is very lucky!! Your parents are awesome!! Love you and your channel!! Much love!! 🥰🥰❤️❤️💖💖😊😊💕💕💜💜🙏🙏🌺🌺💙💙🌹🌹🦋🦋💕💕💕
It's funny that the goodwill is talking about how it's funny the price people will try to charge for things at garage sales when they themselves charge some outlandish prices for used goods they get for free. I more understand people trying to charge whatever they can get for stuff, it's their stuff and they know how much they paid for it and have a connection to it. Not to mention people are going through hard times. Goodwill on the other hand has had record profits.
I've realized that I don't recall ever seeing you check out on one of your videos. I am wondering how they & you box or bag up all that glassware??? Hope they have boxes & bubble wrap or something to protect the pieces for the ride home.
I used to collect those Rayne shoes. I have small feet and some of the designs appealed to me cause I couldn't wear certain designs in real life. My podiatrist had some in a case in her waiting room.
Great finds! You could have so many themed What Not sales with all your goodies from the shop! Birds, owls, animals, glass, MCM, kitchen, lamps, artwork, jewelry (I know you had 1 already), etc. And colors! Anything you do will be awesome!!❤
I have learned so much from you and also a few other just flip it to sell it on eBay with a variety of things. I have now found myself in the last two days because of the location I'm in with flea markets and everything I look at things differently and I am more selective on what I pick up. The prices that I can get in Iowa or just amazing however if I would never try to do it as a business it may be a different situation. However I enjoy watching you and your family thrifting for a bargain!
I am so sad, our goodwill no longer has $1.99 color of the week Monday. I saw and employee pulling different colors off the shelves and I asked why, she said that the shelves were too crowded. If might help if the ever have sales.
Great haul! Love the kaleidoscope! I’d thought of a weirdo sale too lol. Wonder if you did a Bassett rescue sale for Donna with your items, would be very successful donation for them!
That Fenton cranberry "Wavecrest" bowl did come with a top to it, as you suspected Jocelyn. Shame the top wasn't to be found. Wavecrest seems to be "in" right now. I love the handmade kaleidescope you found. I got a brass hand made kaleidescope back in the 1980's that I still have on my coffee table. I think they were popular back then.
I think Jeremy in his latest video found cups similar to those plates. possibly. I would think if there was cups with the lunch/snack plates they may still be in the back and brought out later.
The little green dish towards the end, I picked one up that's very similar but not signed, pics on my IG. Now I have an idea of its resale potential. Cool and thank you.
21:46 I looked up the purpose of vintage glass wedding boxes. They were “intended to store a piece of wedding cake for the bride and groom to share on their 1st anniversary.” Which is a bizarre sounding custom. (Why would anyone want to eat stale wedding cake on their anniversary?)
It wouldn’t be stale if it was a very rich fruit cake maybe laced with some brandy. In Britain the supposed tradition was to keep the top tier of a wedding cake for the christening of the first baby which of course was often only 9 or 10 months after the wedding!
I have been enjoying your videos so much! I LOVE the blue & white type plates ect and u almost always bypass them! I’m yelling at you “ get the plate, get the plate!”lol
Ps...my daughter and I did together...a great Mom & Daughter activity. She was better than I was.... Pss i was hoping that you pick up the mini shoe & purse collection....im a bag maker and the bags are inspiring!
Take all the Father’s Days you can while you can. 💔
My 18th fathers day since my daddy was stolen from earth. Hugs 🫂

My Dad passed in March so it was our first without him 💔
I couldn’t agree more - wish I had even one more with my dad.
My dad died 5 years ago unexpectedly and I miss him so so much! So glad you still have yours! ❤

That’s amazing! Congrats!
Me too! I found a gorgeous teal empoli genie bottle with the matching glass stopper for $3.99 and sold it for more than $100!! Thank you CLL!
Your Dad is certainly to be celebrated more than once. He's a great Dad and Grandad to yiur kiddos. You are very lucky.

Have suggested this also !
Ok guess this video wasn’t part of dad’s lunch date, lol

I love the comment about wanting to hear your mom’s praises in real life. So cute 😊
The beehive mark plate looks like slices of bananas and pitted cherries 😂
I thought they were bananas.
Love kaleidoscopes! Your find looks so cool and signed! I wish I was that talented to create such art!
She just recently sold the kaleidoscope at a “Shop the Shop” sale and it sold for over $90, if I remember correctly. Incredible!! 💰

My Dads been gone for 24 years. Enjoy every second you can with your wonderful Dad!! 💚🌟.
That is a great idea about going on Mondays and Tuesdays after weekend yard sales!

Those snack plates were too cool to put back.

The Figural teapot at 3:42 , might be worth over $100 if it's Paul Cardew. Around $50 if it Portmarian or Royal Albert.
WEIRDO WEDNESDAYS!! That is perfect lol 😂👍🏻

It should be a Weirdo Train Sale!
I had a Fenton similar to that. It was a potpourri bowl. It had a pewter top with cutouts.
Omg obsessed with the kaleidoscope ❤

12:27 Maybe it’s a cheese plate, a coaster for a sweaty iced tea pitcher, or a teapot trivet.
you can use any small cups those plates were unique.

Hi, just visited the antique mall and visited your booth. From Delaware
Cloth basket looks really cute with your favorite hand towels in it. For your kitchen.
I always carefully peel the tape away on glass pieces with lids before I buy them. I want to see if either are chipped or cracked.
Have a great day with your dad and sister!😃
The missing lid conspiracy continues. Always amazed at what you drag out of Lemoyne! Yes your father deserves to be celebrated many times.
At 3:19 you found the handsome owl, and praying hands right next to him! 😂

The Gail Pittman bowl is from a famous Mississippi potter w ho sold the premier dishes on the Southeast in 1980s, 90s and early 2000s. Closed now.
maybe bring a few cloth bags to lay in the bottom of the cart or grab a big shirt to lay in the bottom and a couple small boxes.
The ceramic bonnet girl !! My sister sells those like crazy at our booth downtown, she currently has a planter one in yellow
I am so sad, our goodwill no longer has $1.99 color of the week Monday. I saw and employee pulling different colors off the shelves and I asked why, she said that the shelves were too crowded. If might help if the ever have sales.

Yes!!!
Your long arms strike again😄 Great cat train even with the mishap😺
At 4:09, didn’t the little weirdo statuette have chipping on her cheek? It might be the lighting, but it looks like paint is missing.
Love the color of the tango glass❤

The blue & gold glass was Fred Press ~ highly collectible 😊

The same reason brides save the top layer of their cake.
I have read the same, maybe it was for show at the reception snd they placed in freezer when they brought it home ?
