    It’s so simple. And yet no one knows this. It seems. Not everyone can do it. Irish know this exercise ❤

      Ya the double-down jig strum is great. It's just a case of getting the muscle memory locked in and it's easy sailing from there 👌🎸

    An actually decent dadgad channel! Whats the make/ model of the guitar you're playing in the session tempo bit (the darker one)?

      Hi Bec, glad you like the channel. In that section of the video I'm playing a Martin 000-15S. It's actually my wife's guitar! It plays and sounds great, defo worth checking out 👍

      Hi again Aodan!@@aodancoynemusic
      This is random but I'm stuck. Can you please help answer something for me?
      It's not a guitar question, but I've spent several hours searching for what I thought would be simple info about Irish music in G and you literally are the only person I'm really trusting can give me a straight forward answer.
      My MAIN question is, can Uilleann pipes drone/play melodies in G?
      I have written a fun jig in 6/8 and in my mind I hear uilleann pipes, tin whistle, fiddle and anyone else I can round up that would make sense. I've spent all my time practicing my tune in the same key as your "Out On The Ocean" jig but I fear I may have messed up. I've just now discovered your tune is in the key of G. I was distracted by all the D's in DADGAD and was thinking I've been in D this whole time. I would LOVE to stay in G because of the cool bright sound. I have a humble tin whistle in D (a family member picked it up for me years ago in Ireland) and I've been learning it a little for this tune as well but it's obviously now in the wrong key too. I've learned there are whistles in G but can Uilleann pipes easily play in Gmaj? If not, I guess I can pull off the capo and play in D if I had to but the song sounds much less bright and cheery.
      I'm a full time recording engineer and most likely I'll be hiring a few musicians from a local Irish band to help play this for me so I can record it, but I'm just really worried about what the Uilleann pipes can accommodate. What would you suggest?
      I guess I could call the piper in the group but if you're willing I'd love YOUR thoughts on what the best key would be for a jig that includes at least Uilleann pipes, and tin whistle on melody.
      (ps, I discovered you on a social media short (on Saturday) describing DADGAD chords and strumming. I had never used it and I'm hooked. It's exactly what I've been looking for and didn't realize it was a thing. I've watched a lot more of your content and have actually spent about 6 hours(!) practicing this new tuning and strumming. (down, up, down, down, up 😁) even as I drive around in the car or walk my dog. I'm starting to get it but I'm still SO slow compared to where I need to be. My fingers are killing me. You're a great teacher.
      Thanks!
      Alex Jenkins

    Hi Aodàn, it's not quite the right place to ask here since you're playing in G but do you have an example of a jig or reel played in B minor? In DADGAD, I put the capo on the 9nth fret but I wondered how you would do it. Thx, Dany

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  Рік тому +1

      Hi Dany, I play B minor without the capo usually. I'll have to put a video together to teach how as I haven't get got around to it. But the general gist is to work off of the mid Bm shape - 9X9790 or the low version 9997XX. Then I'd use a moving bass line to suit the tune by working around the chords in the key of Bm (Bm, C#dim, D, Em, F#m, G & A). Sorry I can't point you to an exact video tutorial yet.

    Hi Àodhan great stuff. I've just sent away for a Paige click capo. Have you any experience of them. You have other videos of a closed capo on the neck of your guitar what make was it? Thanks.

    • @aodancoynemusic
      @aodancoynemusic  Рік тому

      Hi Brian, no I haven't tried that Paige capo. It looks solid. Let me know how you get on with it. I wouldn't mind checking it out.
      I use a Quick Draw Capo for tunes and changing keys quickly, and I use a Kyser Capo for songs.
      Here are the three videos I have on capos -
      Kyser capo trick: ua-cam.com/video/MV4FVDx_IoI/v-deo.html
      Kyser cut capo: ua-cam.com/video/jWKCwJ9YPVk/v-deo.html
      Quick draw capo: ua-cam.com/video/YwWePqC4RoY/v-deo.html

    • @brianward3550
      @brianward3550 Рік тому +1

      @@aodancoynemusic Paige is good and guitar is in tune right up the neck. Even pressure all round. I'd say the Quick Draw is quicker for accompanying tunes.
