I can watch random episode of Smackdown from 1999 (a B Plus wrestling show), and enjoy it way better than any modern day WWE ppv (I refuse to say PLE). Roman Reigns and Brock lesnar noticed this, and once they had enough power to demand a lighter schedule this is exactly what they did. It kept their stock high and their injuries low. The problem is, all 3 of these guys are draws. Cody is not. So it doesn't work when Cody does it.

No point defending the title in a house show when everyone knows the belt will never change hands at one. I know there's been exceptions like Diesel vs Backlund but those are extremely rare scenarios you can count on 1 hand.

The WWE leaked viewership and lost almost it's entire audience under John Cena, but if your point is literally just that Cena had higher viewership, technically that's true, but he is also responsible for the biggest fall in popularity the wrestling industry has ever seen. WWE lost 4 - 5 million weekly viewers over the course of John Cena's main event run. How this generation still considers him a success just because he sold those that ugly ass merch to the same 10 kids is ignoring the fact that money doesn't solely equal success. Sure Cena made them a lot of money, but he also chased off everyone who wasn't a Cena fan (80% of the vieweing audience) and then when he left his fans lost intrest as well. WWE never dipped below 3 mill viewers until like 2012,that was actually a relatively stable era in retrospect. Hogan,Rock and Austin are the only ones more successful than him as WWE champion. that’s it. At least in the last 30 years.

They were worse off from 2002-2005. Especially 2004,the crowds were dead that year and Brock Left and Benoit and Eddie flopped as champions. WM19 in 2003 underperformed despite having Austin and the Rock.
WWE never dipped below 3 mill viewers until like 2012,that was actually a relatively stable era in retrospect.
Hogan,Rock and Austin are the only ones more successful than him as WWE champion. that’s it. At least in the last 30 years.
This is one of the worst decisions in WWE history if our new champion doesn't wrestle every week except if it's the rock or Roman then triple H should be fired
