Back in the 80's and 90's SSOC was very popular in Greece and it was printed in oversized issues and collective volumes. I didnt realise (and there was no way to know before internet) that all these great artists were Filipino. I thought that they were latino americans. They were fantastic inkers, because they were bringing in influences from traditional pen and ink art not just the standardized american comics way of of Marvel-DC.
Alfredo Alcala's ink work on John Buscema's Savage Sword of Conan; when I first saw it, gave me a feeling of amazement. My young mind could not imagine that gift of art for the cost of $1! First of all, the beautiful cover painting by Neal Adams, and then the inner art on "Black Colossus" by John Buscema and Alfredo Alcala! That was Savage Sword of Conan #2. Published in 1974.
It's Amazing that a large portion of his work came through a local flea market ....and sold for a Miniscule amount in comparison to its great historical value🤦......I still have an opportunity to pick up some of it in relation primarily to his personal creation "VOLTAR".
My favourite artist along with John Buscema, his work on Savage Sword of Conan is legendary.
Best comic artist- period!!!
The filipino artists in comics where fantastic, yet underated and payed bad by marvel, I love them and bless them all..

Um dos meus arte finalistas preferidos. Principalmente em Espada Selvagem de Conan.
