To this day still the best Midi keyboard with the semi weighted keys and pad feel/sensitivity. Worth every penny!
You can actually adjust the pad sensitivity, check the manual. Page 33\page 5 pad sensitivity
I use mine for all my live sets, The faders and pads save owning multiple controllers. 🤩
Yes it’s epic for live setups!
the quality of this vid are top notch...looking forward to your channel growth!!
Thank you!
Agree
I have an Akai MPK225, Akai MPD232 and an Arturia Keylab MK2. The knobs/encoders on the Akai are the best I ever used on a controller. I wish the Arturia had these encoders too.
100% agree, akai’s knobs are really good
Great Controller I have the MPK261 and No Issues!
Awesome! It's a really solid controller!
Thank you for this. I bought a used MKP249 Pro in good shape recently because I like the features compared to others and the price was great.
No worries! Great pick!
How much did you pay?
Thanks for the review and wishing you continued success.
Thank you! You too!
To me this is the best controller in the world!!! I wish the mpc key 61 had the sliders and knobs like this
It's a great controller!
_Excellent demo/review! I’m considering buying this or the Arturia Keylab MKII. 💥 I think I’ll go with this one possibly._
Thanks for the review! Will go for it!
No worries! Glad it helped you!
Good vid, good review. I noticed when it comes to this midi controller no one uses it with the mpc software. Another thing I noticed is that this controller works pretty good with other software but is buggy as hell with mpc software and good luck contacting akai. They don't respond to questions apparently. I'm thinking they must have an updated version in the works.
Thanks! I agree, I don’t think the mpc software is good enough for most professionals. It’s better to stick to a normal daw
I contacted Akai some weeks ago after buying a used mpk249. I picked the chat function on their website and I got a guy to answer three or four different questions adequately and all within five minutes. I may have had beginner's luck but you could give it a try if you haven't already (I was logged in to my account BTW, not sure if that's relevant...)
Nice introduction and editing
Thanks mate!
Nice reviews
Thanks!
I don’t see any affiliate link in the description, it would be easier for me to find a deal and profitable for you as well. Thanks for good content.
Thank you for that! Unfortunately I’m in a country where they don’t offer Amazon affiliate services, but hopefully I will get it sorted one day!
Great Video, very informative. Any advice on getting this keyboard to work properly with MPC2 DAW? I am having a hard time with this. I may return this midi controller if I cannot get it to work in MPC2.
Lots of coloured lights. I must admit when I buy a piece of MIDI gear those 'pretty lights' definitely mean something :D
I get my 249 today but I have the mpk mini mk3. I like that the pads are a bit stiff because you have the "full level" button anyways. So with stiffer pads its easier to adjust your pressure when playing without full level on. Btw, with full level on they are very sensitive.... so much that I have to be careful not to double or triple tap by accident.
Nice! Yeah I forgot to mention the full level ability, I use it a lot and it is very sensitive but it’s great for getting stuff down without worrying about pounding it!
Is the mpk3 better than the mpk249??
@@gregphillips3806 No! But I returned my mpk249 and bought Arturia keylab 61 instead. Which is better quality.
@@fixxfixx What about it is better quality?
@@LEYGSL Everything. Frame in aluminum and wood. Just a high quality throughout. Keys are better too. Have a very nice feel.
Great video, but why would you not use this as an opportunity to show interaction with the latest MPC software (i.e. VST Control, spicing, transport, Q-Links)?
i was told the novation launchkey has cheaper keys than the novation 49sl..have you tried that one? how does this akai compare for keys?
On a KKMK2 currently, wish there was a modern version of this with 88 keys.
Totally agree! I have the mpk249 to replace my mkp49 because I love the sturdy build. I was hoping they made another 88 key model because I would've gotten that but ended up with a NI Komplete S88. I wonder why they stopped making 88 keys?
@@mrmaison4924 Almost certainly a lack of demand, and most consumers likely don't have the space for it. If they did a short run of them, I'd preorder if the keybed quality was good. MPK3XX range please, Akai.
@@HammyHavoc Makes sense. Many Akai users are into making beats. If you are just into making beats, an 88 may be overkill thus the low demand? Just a thought. Personally I like having a full range option for when I want to make cinematic music, have the lower range for key switches or just have fun.
I have mpk mini mk3, mpk249 and I'm saving up for mpc key61! I use FL studio since 2002 til 2018. I now use MPC BEATS and love it slightly more!
But I have made songs on korg triton, Yamaha Motif 6 and roland fantom back in the day. DAW are hard to beat!
Hey. Can you transfer your recordings to USB? (Last time I bought synth, that wasn't possible smh)
@@AM-dl7ot music notes?
@@brotharobmusic No, what I meant was pushing record button, save recording, then transfering file as mp3 to the USB, so you can listen to it on your pc.
@AM 04:11 yes! You would render it as an mp3 audio file and then you can listen on your phone, car radio and pc. Pretty much all DAW let you do that, I'm pretty sure mpc key61 allows you to as well. Akai interface is the same across the board.
@AM 04:11 you would pick your usb memory stick as the save location. If you're on pc, render as an mp3, save to desktop and then drag and drop onto USB memory stick
Hi there. Quick question: Will it integrate with an iPad? Thanks and nice vid. Cheers!
Yep works with iPad!
@@Upwards._ Thanks for the response
i got a mpk249 but im terrible at producing music
All good, keep practicing and you'll get there!
Stick with it man, practice makes perfect. What you might don't like someone else might. 💯🎶💪🏾
Is the mpk249 better than the mpk3
Stick with it and never give up if it’s what you desire to do! Here I am back at it AGAIN after about 12 year’s and after everything is much more complicated 😅
Hows it going now?
Nic evidence thank you! I was looking for a small simple keyboard that I could download samples to for playing small synth parts in a band would this suit?
Which one feels closer to a piano? Akai, Arthuria or Native Instruments?
Would you say it's better to use the MPK 261 with both the USB-cable + a power-adapter?
Which is better please Arturia Essential 49 or M-Audio MKV 49 or Akai MPk 249
guys i need help, akai mpk249 is currently on sale for 222€. Now im comparing it to Nektar panorama t4, and Novation Impulse 49.
Any recommendations, especially regarding the keybed? I mostly use Fl Studio. THANKS
good morning friend, I just got mk2 49, but I don't know how to configure the sustain pedal, it gives the sustain but I have to press the pedal twice to sustain the notes and not just once as is normal, if you can help me I will be grateful
Looks good, I'm a song writer and a R&B RAP artist, and I've never used a beat machine before but I'm a faster learner so do you think i should go small or go big so i won't have to re buy something better down the road because this is my mindset, so what's your opinion on my thinking?
Depends on where you taking it. If you’re using it in the studio, go with the mpk249. If you’re planning on making beats everywhere, go with the mini
@@Upwards._ nope in studio only bro
@@chris2crazzy go with the akai mpk249 bro 👍
@Upwards._ thanks for helping
Is it worth upgrading to the MPK249 from the MPK49?
How does this keybed match-up to the Arthuria Keylab Essential? And I've heard that Akai keybeds have a short lifespan 🤧
Is it easy to learn? Would you recommend to a beginner using a midi just starting music production?
Hey there! having a midi controller does help speed up the process for beginners especialy, however, the akai is quite complicated and may take some time getting used to. Otherwise it's great!
wth, this is huge
Great Video t.h.x Mate 😎 i have the Roland TR-8S...can i use it together with the MPK249/261, connect with each other, possible,or? 😉
Thanks! Hmm I'm not sure, there is a midi port on the back that might work, but I'm not sure, sorry!
How impact having this MIDI controller on your studio workflow compare to using ordinary midi keyboard?
The biggest benefit for me are the pads, I use them all the time. The knobs and sliders I can live without tho
Forget it this gear is totally wack u need weeks to get it running correct
Hey did you have any issues hooking up the MPK249? My computer won’t recognize it at all and I’m using a MacBook Pro
Yeah! Actually did! Akai hasn't updated their products to work with the new M1 MacBooks, I've been using a workaround by using a USB Hub. Connect the MPK to the USB Hub and then connect the USB hub to the MacBook, that's been working really well for me.
@@Upwards._ are you using a MacBook or iMac ? Also can you tell me what usb hub you used? This is my last resort before I return it
@@Thisninjascared I’ve got the M1 Pro MacBook Pro and I’m using a Unitek USB 3.0 hub, but any hub should work, just make sure it’s from a trusted company.
@@Upwards._ ok thanks I really appreciate that bro. This is my last try with this things. If not I’m gonna grab the arturia
@@Thisninjascared No worries, hope it all goes well!
How heavy is the keyboard itself?
Nearly 6kgs
Does The keyboard have any Sounds it self if you want to play without a daw???
No, it does not have any built in speakers
Does it work with Pro Tools?
Will an iPad PRO with USB-c power this?
Yes it will 👍
I was kinda hoping it had motorized sliders haha
Haha that would be sick!
I have one, but it doesn’t connect to MBP M1 Pro.
Yeah it’s a bit of an issue right now unfortunately, however there is a workaround which I am using right now. If you use a dongle or a USB hub it will work. Plug the USB hub/dongle to your MacBook and then plug the akai into the hub/dongle.
Hope this helps!
Hey there, I just made a video on how to connect to the M1 Pro MacBook
@@Upwards._ Hey mate, where can I find that mentioned video?
Is the mpk3 better than the mpk249
The Akai Mini MK3 is basically a small version of the Akai MPK249 if that's what you're asking.
found one on ebay for $30
doja cat used this keyboard
Just Made a video on how to connect the Akai MPK249 to the M1 Pro MacBook Pro here: ua-cam.com/video/A9Jby47a1pE/v-deo.html
I got a m1 and mpk225 and its just plug and play and it was detected in my mac m1 within seconds no driver needed or youtube videos
Boring!
