I love seeing you in my feed still, haven't gone golfing in about a year, but seeing you push yourself and others is truly a blessing man. Keep it up, I'll be in the course again soon thanks to you.
Great work, Gabe! You swing is indeed looking better now. I can look at a swing from virtually any period in my swing evolution and know what I was working on and when.
charly yoo I agree 100%, its such a pivotal part of the swing and can influence so much! Its like everything might react off what the lower body is doing, in a positive or negative way. Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you like the content!
Gabe, I think this is one of your best videos of all time. When I watch your rotate your body in the frame on the right its really is hogan esque. You must be crushing the ball Rob
Love this video and couldn't agree more that anyone serious about changing their swing needs high speed video. The changes look awesome and I need to work on the hips too. Keep up the great work!
Awesome lesson. Never saw any video prior to yours addressing level hip rotation. Just practiced it and already I can see it helping a lot of issues I face each round, even though I golf in the mid 80's. With this concept, it made me realize how much I was over rotating on the backswing (as the round progressed). Difficult to commit that swing fault with level hips (and now I get a better coil). As you pointed out, the flipping of the club can be eliminated if rotating fully through properly, which level hips facilitate. I, like you, experienced my rotation stopping prematurely early post impact. I also found it difficult to come to a full finish because of it, not understanding why. I encounter a couple of fat shots throughout my round and this will help tremendously because if executed correctly I will have rotated my hips and shoulders much more at impact, putting my hands further towards the target at impact (as you noted). For me, it also means better weight shift. I didn't realize how much I was dipping my left hip on my backswing (which encourages the same fault on the forward swing) and your hip hiking exercise will from now on remind me of what I need to ingrain. I believe this is one of those rare tips that will change my game for the better. I've also realized I even unknowingly dipped my hips on pitch shots (even a little can affect ball striking) so this is not just for full swing application. Level hips means easier to get back to the ball too because dipping the hips introduces more angles, making the game more difficult. Thank you for sharing. Kelvin is a genius. And no, you did not come across as being obnoxious.Great video! Being in Hawaii, I get to practice this several times/week all year round.
This one of the most helpful videos for my swing. I had a bad left hip dip in my back swing. I corrected it with my hands at impact. I was able to get my handicap to 4 but had some random high rounds when my timing was off. My last 5 rounds I've shot par of better, keeping my left hip in mind. I still struggle with my 4 iron however... Long irons kill me.
I actually discovered this myself a few weeks ago. Filmed my swing at 240fps and was horrified to what I saw.actually wanted to cry! I compared my vid to front view Mclroy and noticed his pelvis doing exactly what you are saying here. Videos can never be too long, this shizzle needs to be drummed in for noobs like us. Gotta say your the swing guru at the mo.
jason stanley Thanks Jason, yes you have to have a strong stomach to view your swing in slow mo. I learned about the swing from the best, Kelvin Miyahira. Thanks again!
gabe im happy your figuring out your swing ! ive been wondering if yiu can make a video on how to find the fall line and how read putts using the fall like a base of how to read a putt please i think it would help a lot of people out especially me cause i cant quite grasp this idea quite yet
Starting to dig the idealogy, im around a 2 handicap right now and have began remodeling my swing to Kelvin's philosogy to be more rotational trying to lower the rate of closure and rate of flip, gonna give this drill a shot and see what happens. Keep the vids coming they're pretty solid. Best of luck.
Justin Graham Thanks Justin, Kelvin is the man, if you know some of his stuff then the membership site is a must, its on everything on how to actually apply everything. Its one to know what to do, its another to know how to do it...Thanks for watching!
Nice job. Your impact position was much better than before, obviously. A little silly with the commentary at first but it morphed into a very comprehensive swing analysis. Another great comparison during the downswing was how your right heel was starting to elevate due to better rotation as opposed to your old swing where the right foot was planted into the ground. You will definitely notice more consistent strikes because the bottom of your swing arc will be consistently in front of the ball. Just my humble opinion
This covers SO many good keys, it is almost ridiculous. If ridiculous is perfect! Perhaps the final indicator of success is the absence of "arms cross over through/past impact, ever." ? Thank you so much, from Australia.
Gabe, been following your progress since your visit to Kelvin Miyahira =think he is brilliant but struggles to get the message across to layman or perhaps I just don't understand him well enough. Concerning your swing tip: I suppose your it allows your apex to bottom out later ie. 'pick' the ball better as appose to digging early. Best tip however, was your tip on alignment =hitting draws and fades=as appose to general convention. Still haven't spend time on Trackman but since your tip became much more consistent in hitting the shape I am looking for. Keep it up! Chris from South Africa
Chris Boshoff Hey Chris, Kelvin is a smart man, and you are right he did not have any info available on the web on a simpler more applicable approach to integrate his concepts. Thats where I came in! Everything on my site is how to simply apply the concepts through drills and feels, we also RARELY ever use any anatomical terms. We did our best to make it as simple as possible and out of 300+ members no one has complained its too complicated. Glad the alignment tip helped, keep it up, and thanks for watching. I am making better contact without digging as much, you are right!
Luke Bracke Thanks Luke, contact and accuracy have improved for sure. I feel like i was so messed up to begin with i was a easy fix. Its no where ingrained, especially with the woods and driver but at least i have it started and know it works.
Rory is different from everyone. He does a squat and spring, and spring up with both legs. His hips first turn, then stall, because his rotary is a function of the vertical. Tiger, on the other hand, springs from the lead leg that increases hip turn speed. Gabe instead turns his hips level and his lead leg becomes straight because of the hip turn. Rory has his signature hip stall because of his squat and spring. Kelvin and Gabe just want to turn and have no stall that would lead to a flip.
Thexlongerxgame Thanks, its really about what we call the "RIGHT ELBOW MOVE", the right elbow driving in front of the body ahead of the hands in external rotation, like your right arm is losing in arm wrestling.
Hey Gabe, just joined MTi. Any tips on how to get your body to memorize the lower body turn you did on the right side? Is there a good drill to help ingrain that move?
nice vid homeslice. Isn't another way to fix this found by keeping more weight in the heels? I might be wrong (hips are also something i'm working on) but it feels to me like my hips stay more level (mostly focusing on backswing right now) when i get the weight more in the heel of the right leg on the way back. I feel like that keeps me more level across the board.
TXchadTX I wish, for me i was getting right side loaded towards the feel but moving my hips too much too in flexion. People will find ways to do it all types of way.
Gerard Cusack i was actually getting my weight right towards the heel, theres just different ways to do it. Center of mass, center of pressure, and pelvis can move in its own way as well.
+PureSwingTV You know is it not true but as an instructor that's the typical speech ! How to load and unwrap your body's rubberbands is the secret ; the rest just happens if "passive"
MTI SUBSCRIPTION I ust want to say to everyone that is watching this video im someone that has followed Kelvin Miyahira. I knew what KM was talking about made total since to me but I had a hard time understanding how to apply it to my golf swing. Over the last few months I bought Lucas Walds book, did endless positions in front of mirrors, learn KM terminology, read his articles, watched JS n V. Rod golf swing over n over, and all this did help give me a solid foundation but still something was missing. Finally, a couple days ago I spent the best $150, on golf, I have ever spent on Gabe's MTI website. Getting to here KM talk about the golf swing to me is priceles. GW n KM put it all together so I could actually understand everything as it applies to me n my golf swing I never post but I felt obligated to, I cancelled my FB account so this is the only place I could think of to post. I don't personally know any of these guys in KM circle I'm just a 39 yr old Paramedic that lives in Florida who loves golf. I have tried quite a few different swing theories, models, ideas,( I have range at home), put a lot of work in, but nothing has made more since to me than KM. MTI is well worth it. Sorry for length of post but I felt obligated to KM, Lucas, GB, to do this, AGAIN I DONT KNOW any of them personally but they have all made an unimaginable impact on the game I love, so thank u to all!
Chris Sartin Hey Chris, thanks for the comment. Im in the same boat, i went around to all the different coach and concepts and Kelvins is actually the most simplest and smartest. We only teach what the best do. Glad it makes as much sense to you as it did for me. Thanks for the comment and glad you liked the content!
Chase Reyes Hey Chase, i don't think you can, you have to pay with card. If thats a problem you can always paypal me direct and i can send you login info. Just let me know, thanks!
That would be awesome bc I sold some things on eBay and should have enough in my paypal wallet by next week to join and I am really looking forward to be able to work with you and Kelvin through the site. What is your paypal account info I should send it to?
I love seeing you in my feed still, haven't gone golfing in about a year, but seeing you push yourself and others is truly a blessing man. Keep it up, I'll be in the course again soon thanks to you.
Great work, Gabe! You swing is indeed looking better now. I can look at a swing from virtually any period in my swing evolution and know what I was working on and when.
myswingevolution Thanks Christo, I'm trying;)
This is, in my humble opinion, the all around best golf instructional video on lower body movement. The lower body is key.
charly yoo I agree 100%, its such a pivotal part of the swing and can influence so much! Its like everything might react off what the lower body is doing, in a positive or negative way. Thanks for watching and commenting, glad you like the content!

Rob Welsh Thanks Rob, I'm actually not hitting it much farther but def more accurate and better contact. Thanks again for watching!
This is really cutting edge stuff. You guys are on it!
Great progress for you. Enjoy videos of you and your friend in Hawaii with Kelvin.

Beautiful stuff
jesse Lopez Thanks Jesse, I'm happy with the changes!
Great stuff! Wished you had done this change on Trackman.

The more content the better, don't worry about videos being too long.
diamonddiet Thanks, i want to provide more in depth videos with better substance, and those take more time:) Quality or Quantity i say:)
Gabe can you explain the difference between how Rory fires his hips and that squat he does compared to what I'm seeing from you at 8:30 and on...??
***** Rory is pure but only few can pull that off. Will try to discuss in future videos.
fair enough. I was simply curious because the move looked a bit similar.
Rory is different from everyone. He does a squat and spring, and spring up with both legs. His hips first turn, then stall, because his rotary is a function of the vertical. Heh Gabe,
Do you have any drills on getting your downswing plane? It looks very in front of you and also very powerful, I admire it alot.
Thexlongerxgame Thanks, its really about what we call the "RIGHT ELBOW MOVE", the right elbow driving in front of the body ahead of the hands in external rotation, like your right arm is losing in arm wrestling.
lol at the intro
Gabe this is money. I need to visit San DIego and get a lesson someday.
charly yoo thanks, and yes you do:)
Hey Gabe, just joined MTi.
Any tips on how to get your body to memorize the lower body turn you did on the right side? Is there a good drill to help ingrain that move?
jko8888 hip hiking drill, look at some of the fascia videos as well. its all in there, just go watch them all:)
Great video Gabe

Agreed...
