I made a couple of games with this back in the day (lost unfortunately). GameMaker is a good example of software fulfilling a need. It worked better for games than BASIC extensions by replacing the slow, floating-point based language entirely with something more efficient. And it offered more design tools than just a simple built-in sprite editor. The results moved into the realm of programs written in machine language. One of its strong points was the ability to move several sprites together as you've shown here.
It would have been awesome to have a tutorial for Game Maker back in the day. I guess better late than never. I started making the videos because I had a 14 year old nephew who was interested in the Commodore 64. Turns out he loved the Game Maker. So I kept making more. Turns out other people like these videos, too. Thanks for the comment 👍 now onto my next video 📹
You sir ROCK! Garry Kitchen's GameMaker was the first game maker I remember back when I was around 4 or 5 years old when my brother used it. Thanks for the memories!
Thanks again for watching, I have so many videos on my bucket list, currently working on a raspberry PI video. But if you have a favorite let me know. I also like the comments. Thanks 👍
I was around 12 years old when I bagged my parents to purchase Garry Kitchens Game Maker. I wasn't disappointed. It quickly came to be my favorite software for the commodore 64. And help me understand concepts of programming that helped me later on. Because there wasn't a such thing as the internet back then, I had to learn with the book that came with it and a little trial and error. Later on in life, I decided to make a few tutorials on the game maker as there were none. And maybe, just maybe somebody would think it's useful. Thanks for watching. 😊
Man this would've been cool to have as a kid! It even has a sound FX synth. If it weren't for you making these videos I never would've heard about this crazy program, let alone getting a full walkthrough! Thanks for another quality video! I like how you've got the important parts of movie-making and presentation down so you're free to play around a little bit with it and make it more entertaining.
Garry kitchens was the program that started me into coding. It was much easier than writing a program in Basic at the time. It's hard to make a video on coding without putting someone to sleep. That is of course, unless you're a guy with a mask on.
Believe it or not it only took me a few hours to make this game on, but about a week to make the video. feel free to modify it to make it your own. You should be able to attach this rom to Commodore Vice. Try this link below. It should be able to run independently or through Garry Kitchens Game Maker drive.google.com/file/d/1DUM4CQlf9ySNPFz55U4zxMiE5noiKV2n/view?usp=sharing
Yup! Thanks, I owe it to my wonderful mommy, who taught me to always put the toilet seat down. And to conserve on water by not flushing for days on end. She even taught me how to cook. Maybe not a raspberry pi but a dingle berry pie. Boy, those were the days. Thanks for the comment. You'll have to let me know what your favorite video is. Later Gator 🤪
When I started this series, my wife told me nobody would ever watch it. Well, I showed her. I may be sleeping on the couch from now on, but it was worth it.😂 Thanks for watching.

Holy shit I've never heard of this. Been developing small games for 15 years. I dig it

Can you please upload that game somewhere for the rest of us to play? Maybe include the source code disk and graphics. :)
